Jahque Alleyne

Per 247 VT has taken the lead for 3* safety Jahque Alleyne from Ocean Lakes.

Here is his 247 profile. He would be a great get for the Hokies and could hopefully establish an Ocean Lakes pipeline. Also I think he wants to play with Sweat and the only school that he could do that at other than VT is Oregon.

I want any player that will help VT land Josh Sweat.
I want all the players from the 757. That area is rich in talented recruits.
Jahque Alleyne fits that mold.

Allen Ox

He is a good player that warrants the scholarship offer regardless of Sweat's status.

Definitely and like Trevon Hill, Alleyne always plays with the "prove it" attitude on the field and isn't going to back down from any challenge. Really underrated player just like Hill.

Got to lock down the 757!

Yep, we need at least two high quality CB's to play behind Kendall and Facyson next year...then take over.

Plus, it means that Mook can be the whip/nickel guy that Foster covets rather than an edge corner...

Funny - yesterday when I saw this topic open up, I thought of this skit when he was like "Jay Quellen, where is Jay Quellen at?"

Well played.

I dunno I think this recruit could overtake Cartoons Plural for a spot on the East.

But you can't forget about Fudge. Every body loves Fudge.

We need a "no mocking recruits names" rule. Not saying recruits are reading or that they care, but the fun that it creates certainly wouldn't be congruent to the damage it might cause someone was offended.

"How you doin', Randy?"

...says bruce smiff

Boom, roasted

Nailed it.

TRUE.....but misses the point. And, do you not agree that making fun of recruits names is probably a bad idea?

"How you doin', Randy?"

But....do we really want a recruit that would be so hurt by the harmless joke above that he wouldn't go to Virginia Tech?

if he's a great football player, I would!

"How you doin', Randy?"

Was Bruce not a great football player and a member of the board at VT now and currently have a son on the team?

The Dude Abides

Really, you should just quit while you're behind, dude.

Leonard. Duh.

Ohherro is not making fun of his name. He is using a pop culture reference because his name merely reminded him of it. A reference that Jahque Alleyne, if have never seen, probably understands and can identify with. I've met Ohherro, he is too cool of a dude to do that.

But seriously... pot meet kettle

Horse did. "Maybe this recruit could take over Cartoons Plural"

"How you doin', Randy?"

To be fair, when Plural used up his eligibility he left a gaping hole in the East defense. I'm sure Horse was hoping Alleyne would be able to be the next great VT player to step up for the East. Don't think it's too offensive.

for me it stemmed all from the pop culture reference. I have a friend named Jamallya Trucker and he himself claims he is a part of Cartoons Plural. Would Jahque feel the same way? I have no way of knowing, but I neither take Ohherro nor Horse's comments in a derogatory manner in that they are deliberately making fun of the name. We could see that differently though.

On the contrary, I think you missed the point by personifying the point you were trying to make.

clayton bigsby

YES! this is probably the best skit of all time

"If you have hate in your heart let it out..."

"Go Hokies!" - Thomas Jefferson
@HaydenDubya

The point I was trying to make is that we want VT to land good recruits so maybe making fun of them on a blog that is is followed by football players currently on the team isn't a good idea.

I don't know how to better explain that.

So, would you be willing to answer the question at hand? Is mocking recruits names a good idea?

Otherwise, please continue the dogpile.

"How you doin', Randy?"

you are correct. no one should make fun of a recruit's name. you are, however, incorrect that Ohherro was making fun of his name.

so now that I answered your question, how about answering ours. Is it really any different making fun of an alumni's name?

(by the way, Joe's been known to let people change their name if they ask, just saying)

I did not reply to herro's post or call him out. I created my own post - you assumed that I was directing the comment at herro. As a matter of fact when i FIRST read his post , I thought he was mocking the recruit, then I read it again. Howver, the thread continued with comments about the guys name, so that's when I made my post.

Yes. it is different. Because Bruce Smith has come and gone and was an all-time VT great. He can't decommit. :)

The burn was good. I deserved it. But this crap about people being offended by my user name is turning into a different argument which tends to happen when people start to lose their footing in discourse.

Please, continue the dogpile.

"How you doin', Randy?"

I see no downvotes as of this post, so this dogpile you speak of is non-existent.

I did assume that you were referring to the entire thread stemming from Ohherro's post, which appears to be correct.

So you value mocking someone only on whether they can still decommit? And you are claiming we, and I, am losing my footing in discourse? dude, please... when you start having a valid point I'll make sure to let you know. The fact is that you are asking a question about something to which you are guilty of doing, which is very definition of a baseless argument. You attempting to hide behind the fact that one is an alumni and therefore open to make fun of is absurd.

if you want to debate this then I am game but you better bring more to it than that.

I questioned whether or not we should mock recruits names....which I am not doing and my username does NOT do. Either way, it's getting a little too serious. I just want to see us win football games.

Cheers.

"How you doin', Randy?"

I'm pretty sure if Alleyne saw what ohherro posted he would think it was funny. I mean, who doesn't like Key and Peele?

In Sam Rogers we trust.

Aren't you the same Bruce Smiff that got banned for repeatedly, aggressively, and extremely distastefully attacking RocketHokie on here? Is that better or worse than (not really) making fun of a recruits name? Did Joe put you on probation and you are now able to post again?

"Nope, launch him into the sun and fart on him on the way up"
-gobble gobble chumps

"11-0, bro"
-Hunter Carpenter (probably)

I didn't ban him. That was someone else. Unless that guy created a second account. Either way, in offseason I am going to code up a -1000 turkey leg downvote button that I can use, because it would have come in handy in this thread.

I knew you had yet another alter ego:

"Exit light..."

Sorry about that, Joe. I should have backed away from the keyboard. I deserved the burn and I got defensive. It just struck me funny when I noticed discussion that could be perceived as an insult to the very recruits that Tech is pursuing. I love what you guys provide and enjoy the community atmosphere. Congrats on your success so far and I see nothing but good things for the future of TKP. Go Hokies.

Cheers.

"How you doin', Randy?"

You're going to create a thermonuclear turkey leg??

This just in: Josh Sweat will not be taking an official to VT because of the terrible puns we've made using his name. Also, it's reported that Andrew and Isaiah Ford will transfer for the same reasons. Guys we gotta Escape from our silly ways and Focus just on football. Who knew we were pushing people to the Edge?

not really

These endless Ford puns are making me want to decommit from TKP.

Let's look at the hopeful good news that he is announcing tomorrow!

In Sam Rogers we trust.

Also it seems as if Trevon Hill has been busy recruiting.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

A positive voice, regardless of age, in the 757 never hurts.

We have McClease from Oscar Smith, Lewis from Phoebus, Hill from Salem, and hopefully Alleyne from Ocean Lakes tomorrow all in the 2015 class. Those are maybe the four biggest football schools in the 757 and having a VT commit at each school recruiting players would be HUGE (especially Oscar Smith and Ocean Lakes.)

In Sam Rogers we trust.

Virginia Beach is most unusual in that it has 11 high schools, and D-1 talent could come from any of them. There is never one that just dominates talent-wise for very long periods of time. I can't imagine that there is a place like that anywhere in the country.

A picture is worth a thousand words. A gif is worth a million.

OLHS has been pretty ridiculously talented for the last 6-7 years, and has produced a pretty big number of MAJOR D1 recruits in that time. It's my alma mater, and I wish we got more players from there =(

Its been Ocean Lakes, Salem, and Bayside for quite a while. Landstown did well when Harvin was there and Green Run seems to occasionally compete even if they are a smaller school. Cox, PA, FC, Tallwood, Kellam, and Kempsville haven't competed for the Beach District title, from my recollection, in a number of years.

In terms of athletic programs across the board the beach district has apparently some of the best competitiveness in the nation amongst its sports programs (basketball, football, track, cross country, volleyball, soccer, field hockey, tennis, golf, gymnastics, baseball, softball, swimming, cheerleading, and wrestling) as well as expanding that to the eastern region in general.

I found this interesting from Max Preps. It is about the schools in Virginia that find themselves highly ranked most often (consistently). Salem is the only one from the Beach District to make the list http://www.maxpreps.com/news/NrXI2a97okayEMsF9urmQA/virginias-top-10-mos... :

Me here: This is mostly a stat about teams, though. My point was that good players can be found at any school in the beach district, so focussing on just one school is not an ideal strategy.

A picture is worth a thousand words. A gif is worth a million.

^Someone definitely ate their Wheaties.

Any idea about # of Division 1 prospects from those schools? I'm sure it's a bunch + 1.

Just went back and watched his Hudl Jr highlights and this kid is a BEAST. I counted at least 10 int's, he is good in run support, can even tote the rock himself, and lights it up on ST's. And did I mention loves to hit? Under rated?

With stars on the Ocean Lake defense last year like Nnadi, Simmons, and Taylor he was somewhat overlooked but I think that he had just as much of an impact as those three. I think he is underrated and will have a monster season this year.

In Sam Rogers we trust.
