#Hokies senior left tackle Laurence Gibson (foot sprain) not at today's practice. Seen in walking boot.— Mike Barber (@RTD_MikeBarber) August 18, 2014
It's unknown how serious of an injury this is. With Mark Shuman's career over, losing Gibson would put Tech to the test as far as depth at offensive tackle is concerned.

Injury at one of our key spots would be terrible. Here's hoping not serious.
The optimist in me is really hoping that the coaches are just taking extra precaution after last year's debacle
Any data on this. If this is serious we can kiss this season goodbye.
Upvoted to even out the dv, but,
Only in a Bad Luck world
No reason to hyperventilate just yet. While that would be a crucial loss, it's a long season and the tweet just said - foot sprain.
Let's see where things stand in a few days.
I think its just precaution, remember last week Beamer said whenever they practice inside some people will be held out due to the turf being extremely rough/hard. Yes it doesn't help that LG is in a walking boot but not too concerned he wasn't at practice
This gives me ulcers. First of all, Gibson is pretty doggone good (watch some of his work versus Alabama and you have to be impressed.) Second, with McLaughlin moving over to left tackle, that leaves Parker Osterloh, who couldn't block walk-on defensive ends in the spring game, and Wade Hansen, who has been an offensive lineman for less than a week.
And, Luther Maddy has a sprained MCL. GULP.
Hope it isn't bad. Foot sprains can last for a while if they're bad enough.
