Sounds like TheFifthFuller was asking the questions...

-What we do is, if we need that extra push, you know what we do? -Put it up to fully dipped? -Fully dipped. Exactly. It's dork magic.

But now you're talking about an Ohio State offense that has to replace four offensive line starters from last year and running back Carlos Hyde and a potential Heisman Trophy caliber quarterback. That's a lot of refashioning on the fly for a team that has to face a Bud Foster defense in Week 2 that can make inexperienced offenses look bad.

I'm not sure that's really a compliment. Maybe if he had said "a Bud Foster defense...that can make EXPERIENCED offenses look bad."

Yes, and no. Inexperienced offenses often make themselves look bad (cip see Hokies v Bama) without having to worry about the defense doing it.

Making an experienced offense look bad is all about the defense kicking ass.

I mean Bud's defense is going to make them look bad either way; but you are correct.

That's the base of a Bloody Mary, right?

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

You're right. My wording didn't back up what I was trying to say there.

Like you mentioned, what I was trying to say was a defense that "can make even experienced offenses look bad."

Andy, perhaps a little research into how first year starting QB's fare against Bud & the Boys is in order.....especially first year QB's that have never seen our D before.

Not well...

According to TSL, the last 2 freshmen QBs to beat a Bud Foster defense were Robert Marve for Miami in 2008 and Matt Stafford for UGa in the 2006 CFA Bowl. With that said, you'd be very hard-pressed to blame the defense for either of those losses. The Bowl was a VT offensive meltdown of biblical proportions, and our defense held Marve to 7 of 16 for 121 yds and 0 TDs in the Miami game while our offense was... hideously bad.

And the same here. This kid will only have to do enough to outscore a Scot Loeffler led offense.

Speaking of Miami, didn't Robert Marve come into the game against us as a freshman after the starter (Wright, maybe?) went down with an injury? I seem to recall that we destroyed whomever that was.

Moorehead makes a good point:

Q: So Brewer will be the quarterback all year?

A: Hold on. You're getting ahead of yourself. If he's named the starter, we'll see how he holds up. Remember, he had a pretty significant back injury last summer, a stress fracture of a vertebrae. And although he said he feels fine physically, he has been wearing a knee brace at practice. At 6 feet, 200 pounds, he's not a huge guy, so you wonder how he'll hold up physically.

he will be just fine. he is not going to be in the same offense LT3 was in, it will be a different style for sure.
