Been watching the morning sportscenter and they are all over Millers injury and saying how our defense will wreak havoc on their new o line just like we did against bama. Nice to hear some positives thrown our way.

True, it bumps us up a notch, but Barrett took all the reps in spring and leading up to this. They will be ready under Urban.
That being said, I know our DB's will cordially welcome him to the big times with a few completions to the team with maroon helmets!
Don't be so sure about that. We'll probably be wearing our white road helmets.
I'm not so sure about that anOSU's helmets are Grey so a Dark Maroon helmet might happen. I could see something along the lines of this: Maroon Helmet, White with the stripes on shoulder and same white pants from the past few years
Maybe its my work computer restriction, but that image is not helping your argument :P
Edit: you could be right though and with today's uniform trends, who knows what we'll be wearing
It would only code the socks so i just took it out. lol
Oh, I see now. Maroon helmet, white jersey, white pants, orange piping. Don't get the cleats, though.
Its about time that ESPN gets its act together and give credit where credit is due. Hokies defense was good last year and will be faster this year barring any injuries.
I like it when we are an after thought and given no chance. We play better when we have a huge chip and don't have a chance.
maybe you should get to work instead of watching ESPN.....
Why?
just giving him a hard time...he's my brother
The brothers trend continues at Virginia Tech!
Can confirm: my brother and I will be graduating this year :)
Can also confirm: My brother graduated in 95 and I just graduated this past May.
Regardless, sports > work.
Words to truely live by!
Actually it's Hokies>work.
I love sibling rivalries but there's a certain irony to you yelling at him to get to work instead of watching ESPN on a TKP message board when you should probably be working yourself. haha
legs for the both of you because reminds me of my older brother and I.
He He.....but yea...i probably should get back to work...lol
BOO
BS ... wait for it?
ahh, BOOBS. ...took me a minute. ha
YES!! very nice!

Meh
Their blowhards (see: Brett McMurphy) has given us enough bulletin board material to last us til the 2015 game in Lane over the past 2 evenings. Just just don't have one of your paid analysts calling us a soft team for 48 hours like he does in this video: http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=espn:11376427 "The good news for Ohio State is.... is... is that the schedule is soft. They open with Navy, Virginia Tech....".... and then come out the next day and say how we're going to present them with this tough challenge.
Nah, screw em. They've already written us off as a soft team, and for that, when we crack their nuts in the Shoe, they deserve all the crow they'll be fed.
Soft, soft, SOFT!!!!!

I get that you like the idea of us being the underdog without respect, but I'm pretty sure that as a corporation, ESPN hires many different people with many different opinions. Some of them can write us off. Fine, every team has commentators/analysts who disagree. That doesn't mean that when we get mentioned in a good light we should plug our ears going 'NONONONONO THEY SAID BEFORE WE SUCK! NO TAKE BACKSIES!' and resume our self righteous stance.
Would I love to see us dominate OSU so bad ESPN is forced to talk about how great we were and how we could challenge FSU for the ACC? Of course I would, that means we played our nuts off and came together as a team. Let's stop focusing on scraps from Miller's injury/OSU preseason stuff and focus on our end of camp and what they say about us during ACC/VT segments.
All of that said, I would kill to listen in at the staff meeting with Beamer and CO discussing how Miller's loss changes our gameplan cuz you know they're talking about it (without looking ahead past bill and mary of course)
What I'm saying is, we need to instill an "us vs the world" mentality throughout the fanbase and especially on the team. CONVINCE everyone that we're being disrespected by only focusing on the outlandish. If someone is calling us weak, than everything that person is associated with is calling us weak, and anyone in their organization who is saying otherwise is only lying to cover their true thoughts.
This program needs its passion back from the players and fans alike. Yes, we are frustrated with how the team is playing, but when you hear someone calling us weak or soft, it SHOULD piss you off. We're not LOLUVa, we're not some kind of pushover who is going to get mauled anytime we face someone with a pulse. We're not going to turtle ourselves and spend more time on our backs than Donna Shalalalala at a Shapiro party. No, we're better than that. But we need to get the passion back, and if that means focusing on the naysayers while ignoring anyone who is speaking well of us, then so be it.
There's a reason we were so mean and nasty in the 90s, and again the second we joined the ACC. We wanted to prove people wrong. People thought we couldn't compete, that we weren't good enough, that Virginia Tech didn't have the pedigree to go up against good teams and even show them a good game. And we responded by punching people in the neck and running roughshot through the ACC for the first 7 years. 2 of the pinnacle moments in VT history were the 2001 and 2003 Miami games... Games in which the fans came into the game really pissed off about being universally panned, and legitimately made Lane a brutal venue for the visitors. We need to regain that edge.
Again, people at a large corporation like ESPN can have differing views. Shows like PTI, Around the Horn, First Take, etc. are all based around people having different opinions. I don't understand how players, coaches, and fans overreacting to 'blowhards' makes us better overall, it just makes us over emotional high schoolers. 'Us against the world' works for cases like aTm last year with Manziel and teams everyone naturally hates like Bama and ND, trying to turn minor disses into 'us against the world' just seems forced. The OSU 'soft' schedule remark was about the whole season, not just us, we just happened to be the second team they're playing. If we were playing FSU this year and had a legitimately weak schedule the rest of our games, wouldn't ESPN call our schedule soft too?
I'd rather get a fanbase excited over the prospect of upcoming seasons and our players, not a rabble rabble mob over ESPN comments that will be forgotten in a week. I'd rather have our defensive swagger back because they know they can lock down anyone, not because they feel they have to prove they can. I'd rather have a team that wants to be known among the best Tech ever had, not care about what the media is saying. That's how I think we regain our edge.
Insert Bud Foster...
That's what I'm talkin about-
SAY WHEN!
Given our losses on D, I think they have something to prove.
Once again, Zarzour and McElroy from SiriusXM giving serious love this morning to the D. Don't have the quotes though. They specifically mentioned the fact of Bud's D. (yes, I intended to end the sentence there). Also how 1st year quarterback, and early throws, late throws, sacks, premature scrambles, being scared, etc., etc..
I don't know why, but I found this funn.y
They might be breaking in some new guys but so are we, so OSU's offensive line has me concerned, especially since our D line is relatively small. I'd rather be getting no love from ESPN.
Well, OSU's offensive line has OSU concerned as well, so for now we'll just consider that one a wash.
A natural born comedian. Nice one!
Still have to earn it. We haven't played yet. Don't let up now.
I may be in the minority but I am completely not worried about the OSU game and think we will pull out a win, even being in the Horseshoe. I just don't see OSu putting up many points at all and it honestly might only take 14-17 points to win this game. Regardless, September 6th cant get here soon enough!
I like the confidence, but remember that OSU is still a supremely talented team. That game is gonna be a dogfight for sure. Should be a ton of fun to watch.
