Introducing Hokie Village Fan Festival

Whit strikes again!

Introducing the Hokie Village - a fan festival that will be set up on the turf soccer fields 3.5 hours before kickoff to 45 minutes before kickoff.

Seriously, this would be awesome if you're a young (or young at heart) Hokie fan!

In addition to inflatables, tailgating games, concessions, campus displays and game sponsors on site, Hokie Village will also feature the following next Saturday: The nationally ranked Virginia Tech wrestling team will hold an open sparring session
Skipper, Techs military cannon, will open the festival with a cannon blast
DJ TMMPO will be in the DJ booth
The University Bookstore will be on hand
The Virginia Tech Spirit Squad will sign posters from 12:30-1:30 p.m., and will then mingle with fans in Hokie Village after the team walk at 2 p.m.
The Virginia Tech womens basketball team will sign autographs at 2:15 p.m.

Who cares if we borrow some idea from another school? If it works and helps make for a more enjoyable game day atmosphere then I'm all for it. Plus it sounds good for people bringing kids to the game. Geez. Other people have good ideas too we can't just be like "Nope, another school does this. We don't want to be copycats!"

White said very early on he would be doing things for the fans. I don't remember a season opener being so late, and this now. He's making it the show it should be. I'm taking my ladyfriend to her first game, I'm happy there will be things going on to make it more of the show it should be.
