ESPN2 has Trinity Christian (Isaiah Ford's school) playing @ Buford, a Ga school. The 5* that Ford is reportedly trying to get to de-commit from LSU for us is playing (K. Tolliver)

Saw on Bleacher Report where Toliver is visiting OSU and VT the same times as Josh Sweat. Hopefully, we can haul them both in. With Toliver, it would be really nice to be on the winning end of a decommitment for once.

TD for McClease! Great when he's got the ball in space, but can follow blockers and make cuts very well. I am VERY excited to see him in Maroon & Orange.

I'm not a huge fan of how the OS coach is using Sweat on offense. BTW runs a hurry-up system, and you can tell Josh is completely gassed. He really needs to be able to take a breather on the sideline, or else he's not going to be very effective for the rest of the game.

Yep, borderline ridiculous. I've seen him lined up as a DE, LB, WR, TE, on PAT defense (nice block), and now he's out there punting. Give the guy a breather. I know he's exceptional, but he's not invincible.

"Everyone knows I primarily played C, WR and RB in high school, sometimes on different downs. What isn't widely known is that VT was recruiting me exclusively for the Punt Unit (snapping, blocking, punting, returning, tackling), what with AJ's time coming up.
"The guys like Reavis & McClease, however, convinced me the Hokies were still a good fit for me.
"But when I got to campus, coach Stinespring was like, 'we need you to play DE, S, DT, FB, RG, and of course LT (Logan Thomas)', which meant I needed to be TE and QB on most downs.
"I told coach I'd do whatever it takes to support the team, and the rest, as they say, is history."

I'm watching the game now off the DVR and Sweat takes a lot of plays off it looks like. It might be because he was playing both ways and was tired but there were a lot of plays in the first quarter that he gave minimal effort on.

I only saw the second half, but I was thinking the same thing. But it seemed very humid and it looked to me like he was gassed from playing almost every play -- and may have been cramping up a little.

He was exhausted. Again, that coach is asking way too much of his star player. I'm all for getting your best guys out on the field, but you could tell Sweat was just not as effective, especially late in the game. He was definitely giving it his all - you could see him tracking down ballcarriers from behind pretty regularly - but his getoff at the snap was shot cause he spent the first five seconds of each play trying to catch his breath. And that, ladies and gents, is why high school teams with talented skill players run the no-huddle.

I'm late to the party, but I finally got around to watching the OS game last night.
Nothing was as I expected.
First, I thought the place would be packed. I know I would have been there if I still lived in VB. I love seeing future NFL talent, live, and for just 7 bucks. What a display of great, and I mean GREAT, high school talent!
Looking at a power like BTW, and knowing they have an equal across town at Miami Central, and St Thomas Equinas just up the road. etc., etc., etc...I still think UM is ALWAYS going to have just incredible potential.
Slick move by Golden hiring the former coach of BTW (aka father of current coach at BTW).
DeShawn McClease...WOW. The man likes to set up his blocks then cut it up with authoriTAY! WAY better than I expected. Reminiscent #22 pics required:
Also, a lot of talk about JS playing all game and being gassed. I've seen a ton of HS games, and this is not unusual. Granted, he had to wrestle with #78 quite a bit, and that takes its toll. But I've seen guys do that before. Take DJ DiNardo, who I probably watched 25 times in HS...the guy played QB, RB, safety, LB, punt returner, and holder. I also think I remember him punting, just not positive about it now. But I do know he never left the game like JS.
Lastly, the #1 guy we all tuned in to watch...was ANYONE expecting that? I know it was only one game, but he just screams of the giant FSU receiver Kelvin Benjamin to me, not so much DE. Same size (maybe bigger), same speed (maybe faster) with insane raw talent. He can get off the line easily, get up for the ball, and naturally catches with his hands extending toward the ball and away from the DB. With that natural speed and size, he could focus on getting faster, not bulking up. Like the announcer was saying, he may be quite capable of playing both sides of the ball in college.

I will definitely be tuning in as I am excited to watch some of these Future VA Tech STARS lay the smack down on a few unfortunate souls!
DVR set.

Isaiah Ford and Durkin last year but I know what you're sayin
You're right. Forgot about them not originally being Hokie commits.
Jonathon McLaughlin and Kyshoen Jarrett were also de-commits. Fortunately VT probably wins as many as it loses.
Nice opening run by McClease. Even nicer that at the top of the broadcast the "Verbal to Virginia Tech" was on screen under his name.
5 carries in... I really like McClease
Yep, he's had nothing but nice runs - 51 yards on 4 carries!
Holly Shit.....McClease is a beast....running all over this team on the first drive! The future of the running back position looks GREAT!
4 rushes-51 yards
McLease looks awesome.
McClease is a beast.
And he can catch...TOUCHDOWN
TD for McClease! Great when he's got the ball in space, but can follow blockers and make cuts very well. I am VERY excited to see him in Maroon & Orange.
TD McClease!!! Been all him so far. Can't wait to see him in Orange and Maroon!!!
He can catch too. Rec.TD. all McClease on the 1st drive.
Not happy that we will see a lot of Walton with his Miami commit.
Deshawn Mcclease is the real deal. Josh Sweat is playing on both sides of the ball. Hes a stud.
Rankings do not mean much, but this kid should be rated higher than a 3* RB.& soon will be.Can't wait to see him in LANE .
don't overlook that McLease is doing this vs. the #1 team from last year, this year's pre-season #11.
Josh Sweat catching some deep balls downfield

Sweat is Oscar Smith's punter. That is awesome.
Frank faints
Actually, I believe it was the football that fainted.
Hah. Not the reaction I would have guessed, but, Way to go PG!
McClease with the rushing TD!
Josh Sweat with a TD now. McClease looks like he could be a good one
I just want to see how awesome Josh Sweat is going to be when he focuses on one position. Damn, I hope it's for VT!!!
Yea after that throw he may be our next quarterback haha. Joking of course
ESPN 30-for-30, the Josh Sweat story:
Did Trevon Hill play? If so, how did he look?
Trevon goes to Salem, not Oscar Smith.
Salem and OS scrimmaged about 2 weeks ago. Hill was a beast and is going to be a really good player for us.
I'm watching the game now off the DVR and Sweat takes a lot of plays off it looks like. It might be because he was playing both ways and was tired but there were a lot of plays in the first quarter that he gave minimal effort on.
He literally was on the field the whole game - even special teams. He had to have been gassed.
