OT: If The ACC were the Mighty Ducks

Got into a drunken argument about who in the Mighty Ducks movies most represents the football programs in the ACC. Here's what I had, I'm interested to see what you guys think:

Florida State/Adam Banks: Probably one of the easiest picks, Adam Banks was the best player on the Ducks and FSU just won the NC.

Clemson/Guy Germaine: Clemson has been consistently been the second best program in the ACC for the past few years, Guy Germanine (according to Wikipedia) is considered the second best player on the Ducks' roster.

Miami/Dwayne Robertson: Both entities are extremely talented but have a propensity to showboat, often to the detriment to team success.

Virginia Tech/Fulton Reed: Known primarily for incredible defensive prowess and blue-collar attitude. Reed averages 1 out of 5 shots on target which is similar to Tech's anemic offense for the past few years.

Georgia Tech/Kenny Wu: Another easy pick, Wu's technical skating precision most closely represents GT's triple offense...could see Russ Tyler going for GT as well

Boston College/Dean Portman: Dean was a Bash Brother and significantly bigger than everyone else on the team, just like Boston College's offense last year.

UNC/Luis Mendoza: Larry Fedora's speed-based spread offense is pretty similar to Mendoza's ability to fly on the ice.

UVA/Lester Averman: Another easy pick, Averman is known for being the worst player on the team, lacking any real athletic ability but still talking shit about everyone else.

Wake Forest/Greg Golberg: Both are historically not great entities. Golberg did have one shining moment (scoring the winning goal in D3) just like Wake Forest did (Winning the ACC in 2006).

Duke/Charlie Conway: Charlie isn't considered one the the strongest players on the team but is considered the smartest (as seen by Charlie becoming an assistant coach in D2) which fits well with the ACC's most academically prestigious school. Also, I had to give Charlie to a program that's extremely loyal to the ACC and Duke definitely fits that mold.

Louisville/Julie "The Cat" Gaffney: The best goaltender on the Ducks goes to the team that had the second-best defense in the county last year (in terms of PPG).

From here on out we were having trouble:

Syracuse
Pittsburgh:
NC State:

Russ Tyler, Connie Moreau and Jesse Hall were the ones left over.

Thoughts?

I take serious umbrage with the UVA comparison. Averman was hilarious. And he's wearing a Sharks jersey when he's first introduced, so he gets extra props for that. I think UVA is Mr. Ducksworth--they may have jerseys, but they didn't earn them.

Not the bagman VT deserves, but the bagman VT needs right now.

Pitt is definitely Russ Tyler. You truly never know what you're going to get from them much like Tyler's patented knucklepuck.

If Louisville is Julie the Cat, it only makes sense that Bobby Petrino is back for a second helping.

Syracuse is Tammy Duncan. She's a part of the team because of her prowess in an entirely different sport.

Who are the Bash Brothers?

Live for 32. Ut Prosim. Let's Go, Hokies.

Do you mean literally or figuratively?

Literally, these guys:

Figuratively, these guys:

I always felt that Conway and Banks were pretty much evenly matched.

True Hokies STICK IT IN!!!

STICK IT IN Army of Virginia Tech

I think Pitt is Jesse Hall. Likes to keep a chip on his shoulder and call everyone a cake eater, but shows up and surprises people. I don't really remember Russ or Julie so that makes they a perfect fit for Syracuse and NC State; neither are memorable.

How could forgot about the knuckle puck?

lol

Ah yes; thanks for the reminder. I found him to be really annoying...maybe he's ND...or ECU.

Russ was the guy who taught Jesse the knuckle puck.

russ

Russ HAS to be Clemson. Known for unstoppable offensive attack (knucklepuck) and little to nothing else? Come on, if that's not Clemson, I don't know what Clemson is.

The knucklepuck made me immediately think GT. Quirky, hard to defend well, and somehow it just works.

"Exit light..."

Nah... GT is Luis Mendoza. Straight line speed, has no brakes, which renders his offensive game very, very one-dimensional

Fair argument, but GT doesn't rely on speed. They try to wear down the clock - slowly. They love drives of 9-10 minutes. Instead, pump the brakes and control everything in the weirdest way possible.

"Exit light..."

I think this is accurate. It seems completely made up and shouldn't work but it does.

I don't know what team would be which Mighty Ducks but I want to hang out with you and your friends when you drink

The talent of Trinidad and Tobago, but with the elitist attitude of the Hawks.

Not the bagman VT deserves, but the bagman VT needs right now.

With the trickery of a Icelander in the shootout.

I mean, a triple deke? Seriously? That's basically one of the most basic moves in hockey, its what you do when you skate with the puck. And forgive me if I'm not fooled when he puts on the skids after the third deke and takes the slapshot. (which, if we're playing by international rules, the act of stopping would forfeit the attempt, so in their ultimate brilliance, they managed to violate the only simple basic rule of the shootout)... Oh, and then how LOLUVa of them is it to not even realize Gaffney had the puck until she flipped it out of her glove? I mean, you just took a full power slapshot, if you're still looking for the puck after it reaches the goalie, you're a moron. It either bulged the twine or got stopped, you stupid moron.

Regarding the triple deke, that was also coach Bombay's signature move, and I believe he pressured Charlie into using it in the title shootout in D1.

Regarding Gaffney, it was absolutely criminal that she didn't get more playing time. She was an outstanding goalie and Goldberg was mediocre, at best.

In fact, now that I think about it, coach Bombay might be coach London.

Not the bagman VT deserves, but the bagman VT needs right now.

Way to ruin movie magic. Remind me never to watch a movie with you.

Don't watch any of the Might Ducks again then because if you watch them as an adult you'll realize how absolutely horrible the "hockey" was it in.

I'd go with Maryland as T&T based solely on the uniforms
