Still having RZ issues it looks like.

On the plus side, we were able to convert third downs much better than the scrimmage stats would have predicted.

Not the bagman VT deserves, but the bagman VT needs right now.

That's true. I did notice that. Made me feel a little bit better. Now my brain is on what weaknesses Meyer has and what Foster and staff can do to exploit them.

Hey now, how about we see how Loeffler can exploit some weaknesses.

Yeah I meant the entire coaching staff.

On the plus-plus side, field goals were converted, and without having to test his range.

That was a positive, because they will surely be tested next weekend.

This has absolutely nothing to do with any former QBs, so please don't go there. When Brewer pitched that one out to the left and didn't try to press, I hoped so much his football mentality matched his performance, which rang true with this single quote after the game. "Theres no excuse, really, to make poor decisions with the football. I like to think that whenever an opportunity comes to make a play that were going to make it, and if not, were going to try to pick up the first down or whatever we can with my legs. And if not, well shelf it and play the next play." Thanks Bitter and McFarling for passing this along.

Regardless of the opponent, I think he showed poise and confidence, and I am proud of how the entire team played tonight. Go hokies!

@hokie_rd

Was I the only Hokie with a little panic in their hearts when Brewer had three balls tipped in the first quarter?

Nah, the first quarter of the first game is too early to panic anyways, and stuff like a ball tipped at the line is generally not something the QB can avoid too easily. A good DL can stick his hand in a passing lane just at the wrong time and make a good pass look like a bad one. Happens to every QB on every level.

I think the concern here is that our QB is only 5'10". Yeah, tipped balls happen, but when you see them happen at that rate, it's easy to wonder if height is an issue. Not saying it is, but I can definitely see where the OP is coming from

Not the bagman VT deserves, but the bagman VT needs right now.

Not to be blown out of proportion, but I think it is a bit of an issue. Not a huge issue, but he needs to be aware of it. Other than that, I think he played very well.

Bob: What would ya say ya do here?

Brad: I already told you! I iron out the minutiae so Justin doesn't have to. I have people skills dammit! What the hell is wrong with you people?

Haha agreed. Almost choked on my wild turkey. We all know he is not the tallest. Let's hope his smarts make up for His size.

@hokie_rd

I was very glad we didn't have any more tips the rest of the game.

My comment to MrsEMC when he walked out for the first series "He's so tiny! (compared to LT)"

My fried who was watching the game with me said the exact same thing. My response, "So is everyone."

Bucky Hodges would like a word with you

And yet Logan still outweighs bucky by 24 pounds. Logan is just plain and simple a big ass dude.

I wonder if Gregg Williams watched the game? His son played one hell of a game, hope he keeps it up.

VT is running a hurry up offense.....Big trouble

I don't know why we haven't done it more in the past; I have great success in creating Heisman-winning QBs with it in NCAA!

I would imagine stinespring wasn't innovative enough to do it with Marcus, glennon, and Tyrod. And Leoffler didn't think Logan could handle it.

Am I the only one who didn't notice that Stanford was out the whole time? I hope he is okay for next week, but that's a true testament to the talent of the other offensive playmakers that losing him wasn't devastating. Honest to God, I didn't notice he had gone out of the game until reading this article. That's not an indictment on him, I love Stanford. I got to see his big TD against the Canes in person. But damn, the other guys stepped up to fill his shoes.

Yes, he's my favorite, but it's really good to see this offense start to find its rhythm. Man, imagine when it starts to hum!!
By the way, you might think about changing your sig.

Thanks, I haven't even noticed I still had that. I guess there's a lot I'm not picking up on today.

I know I didn't realize it until on the way home when they were talking about it on the radio. I thought Ford, Phillips and Byrn did a pretty good job. Even Knowles had a good catch, but it didn't seem like he was out there much either besides that one catch.

Brewer is supposedly 6ft tall, also Stanford has some hamstring issues.

Favorite extra points: 5-for-5 redzone; no sacks on Brewer; 1-for-12 3rd downs for W&M.
