That score seems really low. I would guess the over/under to be in the low to mid 40s. Very early season game and there are going to be turnovers. Could easily see 2-3 non-offensive touchdowns in this game.

With the youth that both teams have on offense? I doubt either of us have a firm enough grip or a thick enough pillow to smother the other in their sleep come Saturday night. I'm expecting a close game assuming their quarterback doesn't run all over us. I see shades of UCLA from last season and am quickly deciding that this is not my favorite Sunglass Hut.

I too see this being a close game. I just hope our young team doesn't get "rattled" by playing in the Shoe. That place will be rocking. Im sure the Buckeyes are gonna bring their A game also. I'm not sure we have a true picture of what they will try to do offensively either. While I don't think the Navy D is anywhere as strong as ours, I hope our D plays lights out and flusters their new quarterback. I think if we are fortunate enough to get some shots on him like we did the W&M qb, that could be enough to be a difference maker.

Besides, there is room enough for both of us. If TKP just had one sunflower in its garden it wouldn't be able to produce a enough seeds for the whole site to swallow this season. It's all about teamwork.

I have never understood how people, supposedly intelligent and educated, can choose to ignore that a win by one point is as good as one by two, three, four....which means I don't give a .... how much we beat Ohio State by as long as we beat them. To them the best we offer is an easy opportunity to snare three five star recruits who will be at the game. Here's hoping our boys and coaches feed off the noise, in and outside the stadium, and sock it to 'em. Our team has nothing to lose regardless of what some Vegas bookie suckers folks in on.

When we win, it will be because they did not have Braxton Miller. And I hope that keeps a big chip on our shoulder. We always play better when we are disrespected.

I really wanted to put money down on us when I was in Vegas earlier this summer and, well, Vegas happened so I didn't do it. But I'm kicking myself about it now.

One of the announcers at the W&M game said (when they showed our schedule) something to the effect of "I can see them going 11-1 or 10-1." Automatically assuming we lose to OSU. We may but that's why we play the game. I was kind of annoyed by that though. Need to clean up some mistakes on offense (penalties) and I think Marshawn needs to hit the hole a tad faster. He seemed a little hesistant at times to me.....mainly near the goalline. But as he stated in another article he stated that it was moving a bit fast at first but he'll get better. Glad to see he recognized it and knows what to do to fix it. Looking forward to next week and the year.

I was pissed at that comment from the announcer as well. Also, he had the most annoying voice of any announcer I've ever heard. Very monotone/nasal with a bad Wisconsin accent. But yeah, when everyone automatically assumes we will lose, that's when we do best.

Why are you so pissed about that comment? Practically everyone on this site had us not going undefeated in that guess our record thread a while ago....

I go into every game expecting a win from our team. It rubs me the wrong way when the pundits just assume that we'll lose to OSU because anything can happen on any given Saturday. That's why you play the damn game. That's why I was a little ticked. Anyway. I'm looking forward to Saturday.

In an honest, non-homer opinion, I would be surprised if the margin is smaller than 21 points. VT is not that good of a team, they are overrated and quite possibly the 3rd best team in the state. They pull in a number of top receuits every year, but they haven't been good since they lost Tyrod Taylor several years ago. I'm thinking 45-17
haha quite possibly the 3rd best team in the state. what is he drinking good lord OSU fans are hilarious. We're getting 0 respect and a lot of people think navy will be a better team than us at the end of the year.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
To be fair we were pretty bad for 2 out of the 3 years without Tyrod, but that's big talk from an offense that looked like garbage against the 103rd ranked defense in defensive efficiency last year. Put up 34 against #103? Definitely scoring 45 against #4 because logic.

There is no way this Buckeye even knows about ODU, let alone what league they play in... Perhaps this geographic genius thinks "West Virginia" is in our state?? Either way, what a ridiculous comment.

Vegas is about to see a lot of money come in on the Hokies right around Friday. That line will probably creep up to 12.5 or 13 because most people didn't watch our game on Saturday, they'll just look at the score and say that we didn't blow out W&M. But the good gamblers will wait for that extra point and then just pour it in on VT.

Goddamn, I'm tempted to reopen my bodog account (are they still around?) to drop $50 each on this and the money line. Don't lose anything when we cover, make BANK when we win.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Bodog was renamed to Bovada. Basically same site, different name. Bovada is the website that ESPN sometimes refers to (other than straight up Vegas) when they pull spreads on SportsCenter/College Gameday.
It's my personal rule to never bet on our Hokies. There can/will be exceptions, but for this game, all I want to see is the Hokies' score to be greater than the buckeyes' score when 00:00 hits in the 4th.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Me and my friends have a qualm with this cheer. Why would you want a team that you can beat to be "over-rated"? Wouldn't you want them to be rated exactly right so that when you beat them, you show you're the better team? Saying they're over-rated automatically lessens the strength of the victory.

My overly specific and maybe a little optimistic prediction for Saturday night:
OSU jumps out to an early 14-3 lead due to the crowd and an early turnover. Tech's defense settles in during the second quarter and takes a 20-20 tie to the fourth quarter. State scores the go ahead touchdown with 6 minutes left. A last-minute effort by the Hokies stalls on the OSU 35 yard line. Tech loses 27-20. Fuller/Facyson: 2 picks.
Defense will show that when they're at their best, they're formidable. The young running backs struggle to get going, but show promise for the rest of the season. The game will set the foundation and confidence for the road through Charlotte and show that they CAN hang around with the top-ranked teams.

I saw the title of this thread and thought "We're only 12 point Underdogs?!". I thought it would be somewhere in the 20's even without Braxton Miller. The days of Logan "Giraffe" Thomas have left me truly jaded.

I think the line is right on. I am a betting man, and am taking VT plus the points. I could see it slip to 9.5, which would start to make me worry a bit if I didn't think that VT wins outright.

Watching "The Experts" and in regards to the game Saturday they only talked about Ohio State and didn't mention Virginia Tech at all except for the whole "Bud Foster will present a challenge but OSU's offense will figure it out" thing. Just keep on doubting us, keep it up ;)

My money is on the Hokies.
That translates to a 21% chance if winning outright.
That seems a little light to me, I thought a 9 or 10 point underdog. But I think the shoe gets 5+ points.
By rule, I never bet against the Hokies, but in all honesty I think this game is closer than 12. Could end up 17-10 and could go either way.
I agree with this, hoping our freshmen are able to fight the nerves.
That score seems really low. I would guess the over/under to be in the low to mid 40s. Very early season game and there are going to be turnovers. Could easily see 2-3 non-offensive touchdowns in this game.
If this is your thoughts, you are not betting against the Hokies. You are rather betting with them and the 12 points.
GO HOKIES, kick osu's a ! Show the world we are not cupcakes on someone's schedule.

I think I may love you nearly as much as I love the horse on a treadmill.
Well ok...
Whoa, there Silver. We can still be friends.
Besides, there is room enough for both of us. If TKP just had one sunflower in its garden it wouldn't be able to produce a enough seeds for the whole site to swallow this season. It's all about teamwork.
yes its back!!!!! terriblemetaphorguy!!!!!!!! You my friend are a certain type of awesome!
leg for the terrible metaphors. You should change your handle to...nice
If I was a bettin' man (which I'm not) I'd definitely pick us to cover

interesting perspective...take the win and it's lingering motivational effects...I like it!
Ehhh....I feel like a chump for not jumping on the +18.
Somebody out there is now betting the middle and loving life.
For all you youngsters, or for those who care to stroll down memory lane...
The most famous "middle" situation in history:

Speaking of Vegas, I'm stationed out here. Any Hokie fans passing through just let me know!
I feel that more people are now betting on the Hokies to win because the line has moved from almost +20 to +12.
Bookmakers have no bias. They just wanna get paid.
That's Millers injury. It was +18 preseason then taken off then reset at 12 this week after seeing OSU play.

I dunno, I feel like there was a sizable faction that sided with TheFifthFuller. I know I did.

Saturday at 11:37 pm, we will be a victorious 12 point overdog.
Here's hoping you are right! My best friend is an OSU graduate, one of us will have bragging rights and I believe it will be me.
I also just found out about a guy at work that is a big OSU fan.
Shame.
He is a real nice guy, and I am going to hate to see him cry.
Try not to snicker!
That line is in free fall right now.
About a week or so ago Ohio State was favored by over twice that.
Vegas knows what's up.
haha quite possibly the 3rd best team in the state. what is he drinking good lord OSU fans are hilarious. We're getting 0 respect and a lot of people think navy will be a better team than us at the end of the year.
Hah! Was this guy living under a rock the year we went to the Sugar Bowl under Logan?

Wow, I didn't realize that Navy's D was that bad. Barrett was also their leading rusher......with only 50 yards. I hope Bud is salivating right now!!!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Virginia has two 1A schools. So according to this, we're worse than a 1AA team that we beat two days ago?
I think you're forgetting about ODU.
I wasn't sure if they were 1A or 1AA. Thanks!
There is no way this Buckeye even knows about ODU, let alone what league they play in... Perhaps this geographic genius thinks "West Virginia" is in our state?? Either way, what a ridiculous comment.
I know I was. Do they really have a football team?

It's already moving to 11, 11.5, saw it at 10.5 on one offshore odds. Maybe it moves back to 12...

Good policy, should never bet on games you have a rooting interest in.
24-21 win for the Hokies!
good, love being the underdog. And from what I saw in the Ohio St game, I am NOT impressed. Here's to making the odd makers eat crow, GO HOKIES!
Fuck it, let's just go win the damn thing.
Off shore odds have a ~+350 payout. Not bad.
I hope the OSU players are overlooking us as much as ESPN is. Just spent 20 mins talking about OSU with no mention of this weekend'a matchup.
Me and my friends have a qualm with this cheer. Why would you want a team that you can beat to be "over-rated"? Wouldn't you want them to be rated exactly right so that when you beat them, you show you're the better team? Saying they're over-rated automatically lessens the strength of the victory.
Agreed, but "You're RATED exactly WHERE you SHOULD be AND we SHOULD be RANKED higher THAN you," just doesn't have the same ring to it.
I just prefer the following....
"Scoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooreboooooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaard"
Yes. I love this one. And "38-0 Bro!"
If we actually win, then "A-C-C"
But when many people are chanting it, it sounds like "S-E-C"
"A-C-Ceeeeeee" *clap* *clap* *clapclapclap* ?
As long as it doesn't sound like "OSU" or "BIGTEN" then it's cool

How many time will Bud scream and Frank make that face? :-)
More times than fans at uva game !
Michael Brewer's Jersey No. 12
Ohio State favored by 12...coincidence I think not!!!
I saw the title of this thread and thought "We're only 12 point Underdogs?!". I thought it would be somewhere in the 20's even without Braxton Miller. The days of Logan "Giraffe" Thomas have left me truly jaded.

Their offense will figure it out? We play Georgia Tech every damn year, and they still can't figure our defense out.
They're giving Ohio State an 80% chance of winning. They're not giving us a bit of credit except saying we might have a few tricks.
