Great work by the hokies tonight. I know a couple of smug tOSU fans that I want to remind of the fact that we just broke a whole bunch of streaks at tOSU in front of the largest crowd ever at their school. But I won't.....tonight....because we're not friends on FB....yet.

It is my opinion that teams that get shut out have no right to troll anybody.

Agreed 100 percent. Their fans were great before, during, and after the game. Looking forward to seeing them in Blacksburg.
Second this, third, fourth, and leg. We haven't had a lot of opportunities like this. So that makes this the most important chance we have to act as if we've been here before.
But Kirk Herbstreit deserves ALL THE TROLLING HE RECEIVES. Don't hold back on him.

Herbie, as anOSU alum, is VERY professional. I think we could all suspect that he wanted OSu to win, but he stays above the fray.
However, Robert Smith is a lousy commentator and a total anOSU homer. Troll away.
Also - everyone needs to remember that senile old fool, sputtering Lou Holtz. Just before the game, Mark May predicted the Hokies would win, because of Bud's excellent defense. Sylvester Lou's response? 'EVERYBODY has a defense!', while sitting there with his fecal smile. It would have been nice to cut to him after the final gun, so May could respond in kind - 'But everyone doesn't have a defense like Bud Foster's!...'
A little good-natured trash talk is one thing, but our interactions with the anOSU guys who came over here have all been friendly, so hopefully everyone keeps it that way. Their writers gave our coaches and players a lot of respect in their articles, and this game really was a matchup between two very good teams. Good luck to the Buckeyes for the rest of the season. We'll see you in Lane next year - party will be in our house.

Seriousely, we are better than that. My wife is a Ohio State fan, born and raised, and I spent my entire night internally celebrating, but being respectful. What makes Hokies different, very different, is we are humble through and through. No Hokie, no matter how long you have been a fan or alumni, is allowed to ruin that. If you do, you are undermining what makes us different, and what makes teams want to come visit the Lane.

Let's put this differently. I plan to bring her whole family into Lane next year, and they will all come. I will tell them not only are we a great team, but we have the best fans in the country. If we bump into you in the lot, how should we be prepared to react. That a fellow Hokie will exude confidence in their team, but be respectful of their opponent, or trash talking and judgmental of a team you have nothing against, no ties except a once in a lifetime game. I'll tell you if your family showed up and I walked up, I would pay the utmost respect for their team if it is not the Hokies, and let it be know that I hope we win. Troll your friends all you want, but hubris is not how I think of this institution. Let them underestimate us, we just knocked them out of the college playoff. We also just gave our team a chance, what could be better than that?
I don't troll my friends. In general I'll be respectful and conversational to fans from other teams. I would say a MNC would be better than that. But this definitely will do for the moment.

The last time we "had" to sit with the visitors was Nebraska. All but one sitting near us was classy and gave us our props. The one guy said at one point, "Now, that is what we call Bo Pelini football"....it gave me such pleasure later to turn around and with all due respect say, "Now that is what we call Bud Foster defense"!!!!...That feeling after that game was close to what last night brought......
"Internally celebrating"....you are being oppressed. Break free from your shackles and yell "LET'S GO HOKIES". Enjoy the victory. No one is saying trash talk you wife. I'm sure she understands this is a big win for us.

Got it. To be sure, I guess what I am probably going to do is not trolling. It's just talking s*** to my ohio state (lower case and it stays) friends who believed that VT wasn't on tosu's level.
You won the game. Enjoy the fact that we watched sportcenter last weekend until 4am, to see if they would talk about Tech being dangerous...they didn't. Our boys represented VT and it was beautiful. Feel good, our team did it! Couldn't be more proud...we don't have to prove anything to anyone. Class of the fan base, that's what differentiates a good team.
Does it? There have been plenty of talented teams that win champs where the fans behaved like doucheasses.

These folks I speak of, you do not know them. When I brought up this game they both immediately got s***-eating grins on their faces, like they knew something I didn't. They deserve a little reminder and that's all they'll get.
Your advice isn't bad. But this 'palpable negativity' crap has got to go. Very dramatic phrasing at best. This is a blog about sports. If you can't handle people expressing anything but rainbows and unicorns.....well I don't know WHERE you should go...it's the internet, dude.

It was for that last sentence. In part I agree, but I think there are multiple examples that also somewhat disprove that (wvu is the most glittering).
