I created this account just to congratulate you guys on a game well played. Sure there were a few mistakes on both sides.. But..
As a Buckeye homer, my first tendency was to lay blame for the loss, on our O-line, and the play calling. But that would be a disservice to Va Tech. Bud Foster showed everyone why he is one of the best Coordinators out there. Your kids played great. And the Va Tech fans that I met last night were a lot of fun to hang out with. Some even tailgated with us for a while.
Although I'm disappointed with the loss.. I still, thoroughly enjoyed the night. Looking forward to the return trip next year so you can repay the favor. Haha.
Good luck with the rest of your season. Hope it ends with a championship. That was a heck of a performance. It has to be quite comforting that they could have played a lot better, yet still beat us by two TDs at home.
Congrats.

Classy post....thanks for the kind words. We look forward to seeing you in Blacksburg next season. Good luck!
How did you get footage of our band's midnight ramp? Lol
Speaking of the band, I was in the stadium Saturday night and couldn't have been more impressed with them. That halftime show was absolutely epic. All-around an excellent experience up in Columbus.
...I can't stop watching this.
The guy can flat out dance...its like driving by a car accident on the interstate....you just can't take your eyes off of it.
The Hokie faithful have been very impressed with OSU fans and we have obvious respect for your team. I'm looking forward to the matchup in our house next year. Good luck to your guys! Much respect and thanks for the kind words.
I was also impressed with their band playing Tech Triumph after the game.
Did the MVs even travel there??
IIRC, Ohio State Band takes up all the time for the halftime show. they don't allow other bands onto the field.
One reason why they play the fight song of the visiting team too.
No.. Our band always allows for the visiting team to play. I believe it is their choice as to rather go first or last. Playing the other team's fight song has always been a sort of tradition, to honor the opponent. Something they will do next year in Blacksburg.. Along with, of course, script 'Ohio'.
I will leave this here for you all to enjoy. TBDBITL's Halftime performance from last night:

Thanks for the clarification.
Awesome half-time.
Talk about some crisp route-running.
I'd be surprised if we gave up enough tickets for OSU to bring their band.
Impressed by the class of some of the OSU fans....here's to you VintonCountyBuck.
Ya'll had better make it interesting next year. I'm starting to like this series already. Big games, good fans. Yeah. I could get used to this.
I think they made it pretty damn interesting this year. let's just hope we get the same result
Yeah.. No shit. I'm tired of playing teams like Indiana, Pur-don't (Blown out by Western Michigan? Seriously). I could get used to a marquee out of conference rivalry every other year. And with the proximity, Va Tech would fit that bill quit nicely.
Unfortunately, after your return visit to us next year, we will begin moving on to other B1G teams. We play Wisconsin & Penn State home/away, Michigan, & Purdue between now & 2023. Add in Notre Dame(quasi-ACC member) & West Virginia three times, & Tennessee, and you've got our Power 5 Conference opponents for the next decade. Maybe we can begin again in 2024. Regardless, hopefully we can reciprocate in the hospitality you showed us when your fan base visits next year, and the Lane Stadium & Virginia Tech campus experience will be a great one for you.
In regards to the Wisconsin game, are we sure that will ever happen?
Who knows, maybe we'll be a conference opponent one day?
You know.. I've thought about that as well. From a football and purely revenue standpoint, I would be all for Virginia Tech joining the conference. But the B1G (14) seems pretty set on its member institutions having AAU status. Personally.. I couldn't give a shit less. Or perhaps, better yet, just leave the B1G altogether. F*uck the B1G, and their shitty conference. Virginia Tech brings much more competitiveness to the playing field and lots of viewers/fans with them. That's where the money is in college athletics. Football is the king right now.
Like Nebraska? - or does being kicked out of of AAU for not having an on campus medical school still count if you have enough good fans. Just saying... Lot like Lville to ACC.
See.. That's the thing. Nebraska actually had AAU status when they joined the conference. And if I remember correctly their main research hospital is in Omaha (lots more people than in Lincoln). It had something to do with the Lincoln Campus not being credited farm/crop research, that the AAU seemed to assure most of the conference presidents that it would not affect their standing.
But, yeah.. I liked the addition Nebraska as a whole. Their fans are pretty great.
Told my friend last night I would totally be down to go to the Shoe to watch a game every other year. Had a blast in Columbus this weekend and wish yall the best moving forward. Sidenote, I hate how the Va. Tech thing has caught on now. Most fans I met in Columbus referred to us as Va. Tech in conversation...damn you ESPN
My apologies for the whole Va Tech/Virginia Tech thing.. I didn't know. I grew up in the hills near the Ohio River, the start of Appalachia, or what I refer to as where Heaven begins. I have family from southern West Virginia (Oak Hill/Princeton area) and with my heavy accent.. It has just always been easier to refer to the school as Va Tech rather than Virginia Tech simply because it sometime sounds like Ginny/Jenny Tech to most of my flatlander friends. Lol
Here's to you, VintonCountyBuck. As a VT alum living/working/grad-degree-ing in State College, PA, I had heard a lot of bad things about your fan base, and posted something to that effect last week.
Everything I heard was wrong. I didn't go to the game, but the appearance of your fans here and all the stories I'm hearing coming out of Columbus from last night makes me think I should have put your fans in the same category as Nebraska fans. Such class, very Buckeye.
I'll start calling y'all OSU now, instead of anOSU. Until next year, where I'll surely do it again. Congrats to your guys on a hard fought game. I thought the new starters on the OL, at QB, and in the secondary were going to be the keys to a victory for us. Your secondary was better than I thought they'd be, but the youth on the o-line was important. Next year, when those guys are a year older and a year wiser, we're going to have a whole lot of trouble against you.
Best of health and luck for the rest of your season, and I'll see y'all in State College on Oct 25.
Ohio State fans are alright with me. Great game, and good luck next year, friend. Hope you guys do well for the rest of the season
I was there as a guest with some Buckeyes. Tailgated with them and then went on to have a great time at the game. I didn't see a single instance of bad sportsmanship (except from a UVA guy - different story for a different thread). Overall I find it a lot harder now to hate on the Buckeyes like I used to. Thanks for being a great host!
I find that a lot with most fan bases I've been encountered. I love to travel to away games just to see the facilities and to interact with the fans. I think it's kinda fun to be the hated visitors at some of those venues. Cannot wait to come to Blacksburg for a Monday night game! I believe it will rival Happy Valley in pure atmosphere. Even though we lost this game..we will still be there in force. You will hear us. We are a proud bunch.
I'd love to hear more about that UVA guy.
All I need to know is "UVA" guy. That explains everything. #LOLUVA... #TeamZima...
Classy post. We appreciate that here since we deal with snooty UVA fans and even worse trashy WVU fans. Best of luck with the rest of your season.
I'm not going to lie, leading up to my trip here I was worried about the reception we would get because I didn't hear a lot of good things about osu fans. I'm pleased to report that my experience defies all the bad things I heard. Every single buckeye I encountered was welcoming and genuinely nice. I think osu has a very classy fan base and I sincerely hope our fans treat you guys respectfully next year. Best of luck to both teams moving forward
I didn't make it to Columbus, but the Buckeye fans I interacted with on the World Wide Web were great, nobody was butt hurt at all, we could make jokes at each other's expense and everyone was good natured. Best fans I interacted with were Nebraska fans when they came to Blacksburg, looking forward to meeting Buckeyes next year.
seriously classy move thanks
Thx VintonCty. This why you and the majority of Buckeye Galaxy are eons classier than "fanbases" like Meeshigun and Neuter Dame. Have a successful season.
Thanks for the kind post but I will honestly say that I do hate being called "Va Tech". Not your fault though, ESPN has made that a relevant name for us by putting that on the screen as opposed to VT.
Probably because VT also short for Vermont.
I did actually get asked by a woman next to us in the stands if I was from Vermont. #truestory
