Josh Sweat hasn't tweeted anything yet, but have to believe the way we won made an impression.

He doesn't have a twitter. All the ones created for him are fake.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

good to know, thanks.

Tim should join his buddy Greg stroman and Settle in Blacksburg.

Settle and Sweat would really make this recruiting class. We'll need to fill some holes at DT and DE after this year.

No sir, I do not mind at all the use of 'we' in those Settle quotes.

This is not the Tim Settle you are looking for.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

Yes, it is

Sweat is the one with the fake twitter accounts. This one is legit

I've seen opinions and comments that the outcome of a game doesn't weight too heavily on the decision of a recruit. I think that may be more of an individual feel for each player. I remember the last few years when we lost some games at home with big recruits in town, I was worried about losing them, but I've seen comments that it's the whole weekend that has to be considered.
That being said, it's hard for me to believe that Josh Sweat didn't take notice of the outstanding game that our defensive line had and not think, at least a little bit, that he wanted to be a part of it.

Do you want to be on the team that just sacked the QB 7 times; six of which were in the 4th quarter of a tight game, playing under a DC that is going to turn you loose?

That makes me want to run through a brick wall!

Stick it in! Stick it in!

Or how about how quiet the 100,000+ fans at the Horshoe got, while the "Lets Go! Hokies!" cheers rang out.

It was a catch

I think in general yes you have to consider the whole weekend, and to that point, OSU losing the game I don't think lowers his interest level in them any. However to the big time recruits who want to play for national program this could be an eye opener to the potential they have here.

So no this didn't hurt OSU's visit but this win helps us a lot, whether they were there or not. Although I have to think seeing all the hokies left in Ohio stadium after the final whistle resonated with them a little.

I don't think it necessarily lowers Ohio State's odds of getting anyone. I mean, I don't think anyone is coming away from that game going "oh damn, I can't play THERE". From what I understand the place was rocking before the game, and Ohio State has facilities to absolutely wow.

But I do have to wonder if trying to bring Sweat in for the Virginia Tech game, with us supposedly being the team to beat in this recruiting process in what I'm guessing was intended to be a 'this is what we just did to your #1 team' move is going to absolutely backfire in the end. Yes, Sweat got to visit Ohio State, and got to rub shoulders with LeBron, but he also got to see that our fans travel very well, that we can be jacked up on the road in hostile environments, and he got to see firsthand just how much Bud Foster releases the hounds in big games, and he got to see us celebrating on their field at the end of the game. If you were a recruit at that game who was even considering VT, I HAVE to believe our stock went way up in their eyes, even when they were on Ohio State official visits.

We are working our way back in it with Settle.

How come? Don't follow recruiting minutiae, did something happen between us and him?

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

He didn't seem to think we were big time enough early on. We were basically out if it by April. Back in it now.

I think a few of the higher profile teams have cooled on him a little. He apparently has issues in the academics dept he is trying to fix. Some have questioned if he has the right personality to fit at VT.

My understanding is that OSU quit trying to recruit Settle for some reason. He may have a little bitterness toward them and that may have been the reason for the tweets. Of course he may change his mind and be more receptive toward us.

It's great that the Hokies may have made an impression on the handful of recruits that were in Columbus for the game, but I'm more excited about the impression made on the bigger bunch of sophomores, juniors and seniors in HS that were watching this game from their hometowns.

If the Hokies can build on this win with a special season, the flood gates may open.

Leonard. Duh.

We are in his top 5!!!!

Sauce?

Personally, I prefer a hearty, tomato based BBQ sauce to the vinegar and mustard varieties.

Awesome to see Settle coming around. We were not high on his list this time last year...

And this weekend was huge for Sweat. I've read that he wasn't even excited about visiting Ohio State so I can only imagine that he was secretly celebrating when we pulled that one out. I might have to eat my words if he commits here, but man I would GLADLY do that.

We are also #sacku. Tied for lead in sacks with 11. That can't hurt while recruiting Dlinemen.

Stick it in! Stick it in!

Our sacks have come from all over the defense from every position just about. That has to help with recruiting all parts!

If we are able to land him, I hope he will be genuinely committed to this team and this program. Something just makes me nervous about a high-profile recruit that doesn't have interest in a program until they win a big game. Seems like it's more and more common these days for big name recruits to get a sense of entitlement and act like they're doing that school a favor on their way to the NFL.

He came to the William & Mary game.

act like they're doing that school a favor on their way to the NFL

To be fair, a lot of the time they are. A player of Settle's caliber is worth a lot of money to a football program, but the player can get basically the same value out of most of his school choices. The player is going to get an education and free room/board wherever he chooses, the real winner is the program.

This is true. And I'm not trying to say anything negative about Settle by any means. I sincerely hope he decides to play for the Hokies. It's hard for me to explain, but I I guess in the perfect world that exists in my mind, I want all of our players to be the bleeding maroon and orange, die-hard Hokie types. Regardless, at least now I can die happy knowing I got quoted by Mason haha. I'll go have another beer now.

He is good buds with Stroman, and was showing him a lot of love during the OSU game. Having his boy play as a freshman definitely has to provide influence.

Still lots of time till february when the recruiticorns can start signing, simmer down meow...

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

I think that excitement is necessary speaking to the fact that like two weeks ago we had little to no chance and now we are in his top 5. He decides in December so there is still a ton of work to do but we will almost definitely be in it until the end.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

Can someone link the top 5? I haven't seen it anywhere and I'd just like some verification

#38-0

Not Josh Sweat, TIM Settle. what's his top 5?

Pour some Beer on it

Sorry- my bad. Rivals says he named the top five, but has not updated his list. You need to subscribe to get the list. Sent email to friend with an account asking him to send the list.

Sometimes we live no particular way but our own

It's according to Hokie Haven. I'm not a subscriber so I don't know the other teams.
