Dammit
right there with ya.

Sigh
I blame Duke. If not for last year this game could still be sold as "The game usually decides the Coastal winner".
It can still be called "the game that usually decides the Coastal winner", just not "the game that has always decided the Coastal winner"
I was going to go with that, but was there not a year where GT beat us and didn't win the Coastal. That is the reason I held off the 'always'
In 2012, we beat GT on Labor Day, but they went to the ACCCG after beating us because UNC and Miami were both banned from the postseason. That was the first time the GT-VT winner missed the ACCCG, but the loser made it that year instead. And last year, neither of us made it (obviously).
I'm guessing the time is due to GT not being so great?
Then again, they're not terrible. But with their cupcake schedule leading up to our matchup hurts a bit (Wofford, Tulane, Georgia-Southern.......ACK)
They're not a draw.
Georgia Southern put up 83 points this past weekend. On Savannah State. I'll be at the GT/Southern game this weekend cheering for AMERICA (the eagles). I wish I could be in Blacksburg of course!
I could put up 83 on Savannah State by myself.
I think that has something to due with the other games more than our performance. Idk how BYU vs UVA is 330 but it helps its at BYU so stadium will probably be 75% full. If that games at UVA we have the 3:30 game for sure. Sadly Miami and Nebraska get a 8:00 game and that will be over by halftime for sure
Keep in mind that the BYU vs. UVA game is a 1:30 kickoff mountain time...
Yeah, Miami should be able to cruise through the second half.
What?! Ughhhhhhhh. We're having a breakfast tailgate this weekend and I guess we'll have another on the 19th...
Start tailgating more than 24 hours before the game? I like your style.
My girlfriend and I will be in attendance. Was hoping for a later kick. 3:30 would've been nice.
Welp, Kegs and Eggs!
Good. It's my last game before I leave Germany so it works with me with the time difference. Screw you guys! J/k when we win, who gives a shit what time it's at?
6pm games (local) are easier to watch, I admittedly passed out near halftime of the OSU game.
You better make it up to Blacksburg this Fall while we are stuck overseas.
I love seeing the 12 noon games announced. I know it sucks back in the states but 12 noon is 10pm my time. Any later just sucks.
good for me too. it's midnight for me. 3:30 games are the worst time for me.
Dammit all to hell, my Son's b-day party is 11-1 that day, guess i will be missing the first half...
I will go ahead and give you a recap:
- GT runs the ball
- Kendall Fuller destroys GT
- Michael Brewer throws 8 TD passes to Sam Rogers
- Shai/Juice combine for 8 more TDs
- Bucky grows 4 inches
- Hokies go into half up 112-0.
You're welcome.
You really shouldn't miss half of your son's birthday party.
I sense a VT Football themed party. Move the TV outside as the" entertainment" and BAM!
When my kids were younger and they had birthday parties during football season we'd play games like Musical Chairs, Pin the Tail, and Check the Score for Dad.
You mean 2nd half...of your son's birthday party. Just kidding.
Just saw that someone beat me to it above.
Two Thursday Night Games back to back. Perhaps with us ranked somewhere around the 10 range. That is what I choose to meditate on.
Wouldn't you figure the Western Michigan game would be noon as well? Back-to-back-to-back noon games.
Or they dump it down to ESPN3 and Whit puts it at 330
I would expect that. It really has to be a higher profile game to get it off the noon time frame. We just got lucky, and Whit worked the system for the W&M game. He can't do that all the time.
ESPN will choose to move high-profile games later in the day, and we (read: Whit) can set gametime for any lower-profile game that doesn't get shown on any network, since it doesn't matter what time a streaming-only game is played at. Whit didn't "work the system", it just ended up as an ESPN3 game (which was picked up on ESPNEWS at the last minute), meaning we had the option on gametime.
This, exactly. As long as it's not slated for one of the slots the major networks have for an ACC TV game, we should have flexibility on the kickoff time.
Granted, every game is "broadcast" these days, but you only get restricted in your kickoff times if they're broadcast on a TV network.
So Whit didn't have any control over the GT gametime? Since it's ESPN they pick the time for it and streaming-only games Whit gets to decide, is that right?
Generally, yes. Since ESPN's television network has rights to the game through the deal the ACC signed with ESPN (correct me if I'm wrong, anyone), they pick a time slot for the game. The good news is that this is a national time slot, but it's at 12:00, so it's being seen by more people, as opposed to a regional broadcast, say on ABC, though those games typically kick at 3:30.
Who cares! Post a 64 and get in the clubhouse and let the leaders sweat. And as far as the uniforms go, I don't care if they wear leather helmets as long as they play like they did Saturday. We won the game to get us in the hunt. Now take care of business.
Would certainly think that it's going to be on ESPN over ESPNU though should the Hokies continue to win and both teams enter the conference opener undefeated.
Paul Johnson fired after we layeth the smack'a down..Noon is such a bummer
Not going to happen with his fully guaranteed contract. They are still paying off their roundball coach.
Blargh.
Aren't there lots of 'croots on OV for that game?
/resisting urge to don tinfoil hat
Sweat is taking is official on that day. That said, it's an opportunity - show up loud and proud. Show him and any others there on that day that it doesn't matter if it's primetime or breakfast time, our fans show up ready to rock.
Man if that post is offensive, we sure must have some sensitive folks around here.
...yyeahh, I was thinking the same. I gave ya a TL to offset the boo-hoo.
..also, I've started calling downvotes boo-hoo's. spur of the moment, I suppose.
We found some of the seemingly random downvotes are actually guys scrolling on phones and such. Not even worthy to call attention to it.
I thought we determined they were Urban Meyer.
Yeah, but if you reply about the downvote then everyone who agrees gives an upvote. Then they reply that they agree so they get an upvote.
boo hoos? or waahh hoos??
Isn't that attractive?
This sucks.... That was the game I was planning on going down to and was really hoping it wasnt going to be a nooner.
Hmm, now I'll have to get a hotel room for the night before. Hope I can get one closer than Salem. . .
Just checked out the schedule for that day from ESPN...guess who got the 3:30 slot and the 7:00 slot...
3:30 pm UVA at BYU
7:00 pm is LSU v Mississippi State
I saw on the bottomline yesterday that ECU is going to be on ESPN. Neat.
Not my annual birthday game :(
Looks like we're on ESPN with UVA following. Wouldn't a 4 hour game just be funny?
So are yall just that cocky? Or is some of yall joking? This is always a close game and with much more speed and toughness, and a QB who gives a half a shit, yall may lose. Or do I need to bring up ECU as an example of why to never overlook anyone
Welcome! Turkey legs are on the right, and drinks are on the left.

Dis gon b gud...
If you think that VT is going to overlook GT then you are in for a rude awakening. And VT didn't overlook ECU as much as they outplayed us, they are a darn good team and deserved to win and this year they could probably beat you guys by 2 scores or more (I expect them to handle UNC this weekend as well.) You guys played Wofford and Tulane relatively close and arguably should of lost to Georgia Southern. I think it's fair too think that this GT team has the chance to be the worst in the PJ era. Good luck on Saturday, you will need it.
Could be the best or worst, and i agree with you on the past 3 games. But we always play yall good so. And i wasnt trying to piss you off, just trying to make a point
I think that Saturday's game could be close because as you pointed out GT and VT is normally always a close game and the fact that we are pretty banged up on both sides of the ball worries me as well, hopefully we'll be healthier this week than against ECU but we will see.
Exactly. And best of luck to yall
Yep. Only doing this to see what yall think of the Saturday matchup. Dont wanna start anything, just completely curious of what yall think
I expect a close matchup, as always. The GT defense can't stop anything so far, and our D-line is pretty dinged up at the moment, so who knows what will happen. But anyone thinking we're going to overlook GT is sorely mistaken. We didn't overlook ECU, and we're going to come out firing on all cylinders for conference play.
Bet the over. Our defense is banged up and yours isn't good. We have seen a lot of close games in the teens. I think both teams will be in the thirties.
