Even if Marshall does play, I expected Nigel Williams to get most of the reps and will step up to the plate and do well. I recall seeing him in on several plays vs OSU and he seemed to do just fine.

Woody Baron plays behind Marshall, I think. Williams would go in for Maddy?

Leonard. Duh.

50/50 on Marshall has my stomach in knots.

when I saw that I got worried. I hope we can get the same pressure on the qb with him out

tyrod did it mikey! tyrod did it!

Lets hope Corey Marshal will be ready. Hes been one of Vt's most improved players.

I'd rather have Marshall near 100% for the GagTech game.

Me too. Put the next guy up, tell him you have faith in him, and let him get in there and let it rip while Marshall gets well.
We got a pick 6 last game with that philosophy.

A picture is worth a thousand words. A gif is worth a million.

Who is the next guy behind Marshall btw?

Either Nigel Williams or Woody Baron, I forget.

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

Woody Baron

Tyrod did it Mikey, Tyrod did it!!

I think both will get equal PT tomorrow.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

I guess I'm ok with that. Just want Marshall 100% when PJ and the you-can-do-that dive tacklers arrive.

Starting to wonder if Cline will sit out for the year or not.

I just sit on my couch and b*tch. - HokieChemE2016

There isn't really much of an incentive for him to take a year off. He's said before that he's on the four-year military track, so he wouldn't be taking a redshirt year. And I also read today that he expects to be back no later than the WMU game, so he will be able to play for about half of the season. If he can contribute at all and if he isn't taking a redshirt year, why not play him? Even if he is mainly used as a decoy.

A free year of grad school isn't anything to scoff at. However if he's enlisting in 2017 that's a different story.

Wiley, Brown, Russell, Drakeford, Gray, Banks, Prioleau, Charleton, Midget, Bird, McCadam, Pile, Hall, Green, Fuller, Williams, Hamilton, Rouse, Flowers, Harris, Chancellor, Carmichael, Hosley, Fuller, Exum, Jarrett

Pretty sure he won't be enlisting. He'd be commissioned as an officer. Don't mean to knit pick but just a bugaboo of mine...improper military stuff.

I can see him taking a fifth year if needed. Since ROTC and Corp requires classes a lot of those students need a 5th year to graduate. Add football into the equation and I can hardly see how he could balance all of that in 4 years.

summer school....plus ROTC isn't that demanding. The corp only requires one class but if you have other classes that can't be fit around it you can miss it and take the other classes.

LDAC would take up one summer, unless he got 1st/2nd reg and got back in time for summer two. Not to mention, if he is serious about the Army, he'd probably want to go to any other summer training (Airborne, Air Assault, CTLT, etc) which cut into your summer. Not saying he couldn't do everything in 4, but it's a lot smarter to do it in 5.

all the cadets I know treat their army/navy/corps lab class as an excuse to claim full time status but only take 9 real credits of classes. They could easily take 15 credits including those classes and it would feel only slightly worse than every else's 12. I will say that anyone in leadership in their junior or senior years does have to put a lot more time towards their duties in the corps and it often costs them an extra semester or year.

There's plenty of incentive for him to take a redshirt year, especially this year as a freshman in the Corps. There are plenty of folks I know that either had more demanding majors (engineering, architecture) or switched major late in college, and had to take a fifth year (most of them didn't spend that fifth year in the Corps). The ROTCs are pretty flexible on that. And since Mr. Cline is on a football scholarship instead of ROTC, he's got a little wiggle room in that regard.

Agreed, I'd love to see him take that route.

Of course, if we got to the ACCCG/playoffs and he were 100% healthy, I'd like to see him on the field so he can contribute

It's more likely than not that one of other guys gets dinged up at some point during the season. A lot of Loeffler's offense is based on having at least 2 diverse weapons available at the TE position. Even if Malleck and/or Hodges gets through the season unscathed (which is more likely if Klein is in the mix as well), having 3 such players is a luxury that few teams have, but those that do can use it to great advantage (see Stanford 2010).

I hope that they play it smart with Marshall. I don't want him to go in if he's not 100%. I think we'll be able to handle ECU fine with Woody out there...as long as the coaches believe Baron can do the job. As hokieknight mentioned I'd rather have him 100% for GT than reaggrivate anything in this game.
