Should we be worried?

I'm not looking to get anybody riled up. I've calmed down from yesterdays heartbreaking loss. But should we be worried about some of the decisions made by Brewer yesterday? Those two interceptions were absolutely horrific decisions by Brewer. The score could have been much worse if ECU took advantage of those turnovers. Brewer also got bailed out on throws by Isiah and Bucky.

No. Go watch some of the 3ed down conversions vs OSU. We had one really good week, and one really bad week. We are young. Lots of good film to learn from.

The first int was bad but I don't fault him for the second, it was just a really good play by the DB to go up and get the ball at its apex. Sometimes the defense just makes a good play, and that was one of those times. If it wasn't picked off, it would have been a 20 yard gain to an open receiver.

I'm a little more concerned with the lack of ability to hit a guy on a go route. We had guys open all day and not one pass was within 5 yards.

During the OhState game, Brewer made a play where he scrambled to the right and threw across his body without planting. At the time he made the completion for a 1st down, but Todd Blackledge correctly pointed out that was extremely dangerous. Blackledge even said that Loeffler should scold him for it during film session. Blackledge went on to say that if Brewer continued to do that it would come back to haunt him.

Brewer's 1st interception? Scrambling to his right and threw across his body while on the run. INT.

No....he is the best QB we got and even great QB's make mistakes from time to time. We will be fine, still a long ways to go in this season and he and this whole young team will get better with time.

Damn right we should be worried. If our O-line doesn't get better we will get crushed by Duke and Boston College. We couldn't run the ball or protect the QB for anything. We looked piss poor yesterday minus a few 2nd half pass plays. Honestly this game brought me back to reality that our Offense is weak if you win vs. our O line.

Pour some Beer on it

Honestly this game brought me back to reality that our Offense is weak if you win vs. our O line.

You can say that about any offense.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

Our OL needs a whole lot of work, unfortunately. I won't mention any names, but I saw guys whiff, do the matador, the "lookout" block, and a complete circle chasing a missed defender (which was a first for me). And all of this was in the first quarter. Maybe they got better, but I had to quit watching the replay for a while.
And all of the hits are surely taking a toll on Brewer, which is to be expected. I am now thinking that we will see at least one, and maybe two more QB's before this season is over.

A picture is worth a thousand words. A gif is worth a million.

We should always be worried. 9 of 12 teams on our schedule can beat us. We are very young and thin. Our QB has been in our system for about 45 days.

Did anyone else think Brewer was hurting/stiff/sore after Ohio State?

ESPN showed Michael getting extra padding near his ribs during a timeout--signs that he was not 100% in his core area, which would really limit his throwing ability. I believe this hindered him vs ECU.

Be worried about the weaknesses and inconsistency. Be excited about the potential these guys have.

"Exit light..."

Two things to remember:

1.) We were in a 21 point hole and entering desperation mode.
2.) ECU seemed to get lucky on every possible toss up play. Not a knock on them, or an excuse for us. It was the equivalent of tossing a coin 50 times and getting heads every time.

^^^^^^THIS^^^^^
Especially #1. I'm actually kind of consoled by the fact that our offense had the means to make up a deficit. I haven't seen that in the past couple of seasons, and the defense was keeping us in the game in the 2nd half to allow us to even make it respectable.
I'm not sure "lucky" is how I would phrase it--opportunistic? Taking advantage of our youth? We lost to a good team. The fact that it happened after one of the most incredible weeks in Tech football history makes it sting. There is still so much to play for, and Frank and the guys will have them ready for the ACC battles, which won't be a walk in the park, either.
Worried? Nah. But sometimes it's tough watching the growing pains until greatness develops. This (ECU week) too, shall pass.
GO HOKIES!!

What, Me Worrry?

This is going to be great for the ACC.

He may have been bailed out once or twice, but there were more drops yesterday than any game going back to Bama last year

That being said, being down 21 is the time when you have to take some chances on throws and hope someone will make a play. This was right after managing only 1 first down the entire first quarter, I'm ok with taking some chances down 3 TDs

i'm guessing you're probably gonna get a lot of the same thing on this post... but no. even the pros have games like that every now and then, and the offensive line wasn't doing him any favors. Brewer's legit, no question about it.

not to alarm you but:

A new season...new hope

It's going to be a long year. As much potential this team has they aren't there on the consistency side. That's how we beat OSU and lose to an ECU team (who is going to trash some people this year). We will have games where we put it all together and games where we aren't all there. It's going to make for a long and interesting year but I'll still root just as hard. Yesterday was disappointing but I still think we will still see a much better product on the field compared to last year. Can't wait to enjoy the ride. BTW I fully expect to see us put it all together for a season in the near future...I have always believed in Bud but I am also buying into the new offensive staff. The future is bright hokie fans...the only question is when. I for one can't wait to see it happen

Ahhh
J/k. No it's not time to panic.

True Hokies STICK IT IN!!!

STICK IT IN Army of Virginia Tech

Nope. I don't know why, but it seems like every single major college/NFL QB eventually violates the "never throw late over the middle" rule. Brewer's done it twice - made a great throw for a first once and got burned once. He had one more really bad decision against OSU and other than that, I'd say he's performed very, very well. Three bad decisions in 112 passes isn't bad at all.

Quick! Somebody drive back to Columbus and find the ballsofsteel we left up there!

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.
