If it was just me, I would be there but, getting the whole family loaded in the car that early isn't good.
I need to feed a whole clan breakfast then lunch by time to pack up.
I can get breakfast within 20 minutes of arriving, it's getting a cooked lunch done and packed by 11 AM that gets hard to do.
Let's not even talk about trying to get a BBQed type lunch in.

I'll need to sit down for 15 minutes or 2, ya know.
Your answer is for me to have breakfast and lunch the entire time.
People are hungry when they arrive and need to eat just before going in because it's dinner when they come out.
That doesn't work. I much prefer breakfast when we arrive and snacks out, so I can sit and have a beer or 2 then cook a late lunch, pack up an go in.
We should be able to realistically expect Saturday kickoff at noon or 4.
So far, in 2 seasons, we've had 2 kickoffs at 3:30-4:00
Statistically, we're on the skinny end of the bell curve here.
Feeding a dozen people with a portable kitchen can be tough. I'm just expressing that I'd like some time to relax before the game.

It's actually not a bad idea. you can stuff burritos with lots of stuff, but it still needs to be cooked.
I do as much as possible ahead of time. People still want something hot.

Just cook everything the day before. I usually cook around 8 at a time, and it takes 20 to 45 minutes (breakfast burritos tend to take a little longer). Put everything in a bowl and heat/roll everything up when ya get there. Bada bing, boda boom.

Possible solution - annoint an assistant chef*. Make breakfast, serve then proceed to supervise your assistant's preparation of lunch from a comfy chair, bourbon in hand.

I'm with you. It's a pain, and it's rushed. That's even with getting creative w/ recipes that are mainly prepped a couple days before & just need to be heated. And I'm just doing brunch. I could only imagine trying to get two meals together & pack up. Only thing I like about the nooners; still get back to the trailer in time to watch other big games & relax. However, I'd much rather have that time before the game. It's more festive.
I'm going to start serving just avacodos at all my tailgates. They are easy to cut & healthy.

When, with the addition of booth replays, will they learn to just give football a 4 hour time slot? I'm so damn sick of recording a game just to catch the first 3 quarters and have to check ESPN.

Did anybody park in the Prices Fork lot for the ECU game? How fast did it fill up? I'm coming down for this game and just trying to figure out what time to get to town.

One of our party parked at Prices Fork. The arrived at 8:00 AM and parking was available easily.
They dropped off most of their crew with us, lot 18, parked at Prices and walked over.

It all depends on what time you start. Show up in Blacksburg Friday night, close down the bars that gets you until 2 am, then head to whatever the diner on main street is called these days for a greasy plate of sobering food, that gets you until 4 am, then head to the stadium for a solid 8 hrs tailgating.

Question: We've got an AppleTV and it's got an ACC app on it... think the game will be streaming on the app? I haven't messed with it at all till now because the games have all been on ESPN.

Not sure how the ACC app works. I know that ACC Network games are put on ESPN3 (and thus accessible through WatchESPN), although subject to blackout if you can get it on TV nearby.

Is that much of a surprise though?
Really?
That is incredibly disappointing.

Why 12:30? What games are we competing with for a later timeslot when it isn't an ESPN game?
It's because of that stupid ACC pregame show. I wish it would go away, sine I've already spent three hours with Gameday.
12:30 is when the Swofford network broadcast games and they picked this one. Simple as that.
Hey, I will take those extra 30 min to crush some bourbon. Looking forward to being back in Bburg.
Yeah but I sure would like to really cook something before I have to let it cool down and pack up to head in to the stadium.
Sounds to me like you need to get out there at 6am :)
To be honest, I feel your pain and normally pick up a bag of biscuits from hardees for noon game tailgates to make it easier on everyone.

The solution is burritos.

My buddy that shares the cooking was not there last time.
He was in Mexico for work so, we couldn't get out on Wednesday and make sausages too.

But, unless you wash them with a little lime or lemon juice, they get brown if you slice them ahead of time.
Still can't win.
My theory is that guacamole was an excuse to be able to add citric acid to avacados.
It's also a millennial fruit. Too many downsides. I got ahead of myself. I take it back.
My wife is from AZ and CA.
Used to pick avocados off the bush type thing at my buddies house.
That stuff is no stranger to me.
#BOURBONSHOTS
Orange Effect as well, so all that bourbon won't stain as much

30 minutes should be more than enough time...
PSA: please don't die at the tailgate.
By the end of the game's first possession:

I'm not sure what's worse, the 12:30 time or the fact that its on ACC Network...
CRAPPY GRAPHICS AND COMMENTATORS FOR ALL HOKIES.
It might be since it's the homecoming game
Homecoming has nothing to do with time or channel. I've seen homecoming games in every major time slot.
12:30? So same as ECU?
Nope, ECU kicked exactly at noon. And then lasted 4 hours.
When, with the addition of booth replays, will they learn to just give football a 4 hour time slot? I'm so damn sick of recording a game just to catch the first 3 quarters and have to check ESPN.
just remember to extend your boner/receiver for another hour and you should be good.
That's what she said?
Pretty sure we showed up at 12:30
Ah, see where you're going now. And I think it was closer to 1.
Damn!!! I was praying for the straight nooner. /sarcastica

It's a shame that I have to travel to Ohio to get a good, full day of tailgating in before a VT game.

Here's the link for affiliates for this week's Maryland/Syracuse ACC Network game (they don't have a link up for 9/27 yet): http://www.theacc.com/#!/news-detail/acc-network-affiliates-maryland-at-...
A lot of the stations are the same week to week.
Is it bad that when I read the title of this thread my gut reaction was, "Really? We have an 11:30 kickoff?"
