Braxton Miller to be the Ohio State QB in 2015

The match-up between the Hokies and the Buckeyes got more interesting when Urban Meyer made clear that Braxton Miller will be his starting QB in 2015 no matter how well J.T Barrett performs. The game will be in Blacksburg and defensive master-mind Bud foster will have an entire off-season to prepare for another prime time match up.

I think it's fair to say that we all expected this. No offense to Barrett at all, but Braxton is the real deal for them.

Honestly, I kind of expected Braxton to heal this year and enter the draft or try and get signed as an undrafted free agent. But, I also kind of expected there to be controversy should this issue come up, not for Urban to outright state that Braxton will be starting. *shrugs*

I think you'd be right if it was any other injury but his shoulder on his throwing arm. He has a lot to prove, otherwise, he would get picked way down in the draft and possibly looked at similar to Denard Robinson as a WR or a RB. Regardless, even on the sidelines, Braxton is a leader of that team.

I think the announcement was a way to entice him to stay for his senior year. I am sure the agents are calling him and telling him to declare.

Why would agents be calling him and telling him to declare? There is no upside for them in his declaring early because he isn't going to get drafted as is.

The only real question here is not whether he was going to return, but whether he would be able to play QB or would he have to have a go at another position, i.e running back?

^^^^This, I'm certain that is Urban's MO in this case. If he stays and can't meet expectations, then he can change his mind.

Glory is Forever, Let's Go Hokies!!

Given Braxton's history of injuries I'd guess teams would be leery of taking him early in the draft and paying that kind of money ; right now he's a 3-4 rounder who would be a steal if he stays heathy. A Heisman contender type year would probably make him a late first rounder so there is a lot of upside for him returning. He no doubt will get an estimation of where he'll go in the draft and use that to make a final decision; as well as see if he is eligible for NCAA insurance if he gets injured again that's career ending.

As for Miller vs. Barret I see it as a Miller vs. Guiton situation. Barret/Guiton are both great quarterbacks that could start for many schools but Miller adds a dimension to the offense they don't. It also give sue the luxury of having a backup who can step in and win games if Miller goes down. The real question for me is how will miller's passing be after a year off? Will he have the arm strength to be amiable passing threat, which opens up the running game, or will he be less than 100%? If it is the latter Barrret could jump him; especially if he finishes strong this year.

Personally, I'm more concerned Bosa will leave a year early.

Go for the money Bosa! Go!

That guy is fun to watch, except against the Hokies.

Aww bless his heart - Urban proposed to Braxton!

Does Braxton Miller say Braxton Miller will be the Ohio State QB in 2015?

Braxton said he plans to graduate in December and return to OSU for graduate school. He must have felt the pain from the beat-down as much as the 107,000 fans at the stadium that night.

Allen Ox

He said that back in August when he got injured. That was his plan all along.

Only 100,000 felt the pain...there were at least 7K Hokies there, probably more.

Good

I want our team to listen all offseason about how the win this year was a fluke and how Ohio St is going to come in and whip us on Labor Day. Give our guys a little extra motivation to beat em again next year.

Hopefully, Braxton will be dripping with Sweat by the end of the game, and will have to Settle for realizing that you can only handle so much Fullwood before you eventually cave to the pressure. And something about Dalton.

but don't worry Dadi will take good care of him.

Well, clearly we know that most of the Ohio St O-Line has Dadi issues we were allowed to take up residence in their backfield. And just when they didn't think they could get any Fuller, we unleashed our secret weapon of a big Bonner, and we had them begging for more. After we were done, they did remark about how they thought they Newsome good Wang, but had never seen anyone Marshall a situation like that. Flattered, we couldn't help but to offer them a drink, seeing as how we are good friends with a Brewer. Our Slye plans worked, because they called us up the next morning, and we have a date again next year.

Ohio State O-line had both Maddy & Dadi issues so they went to Foster care and got danced on by Bucky.

Lets see what the Draft reports are on Braxton before we jump to him being there next year

BRING IT

I compltely forgot about this poster, haha.

thanks! it was ten minutes well spent

This is great, didn't see it before.

Can someone explain this to me?
What is that black blob next to stump?
So, I guess the turkey got away, considering it has footprints leading away from the stump?
Also, why did the illustrator make it look as if the turkey hops like a kangaroo?

I can only conclude, the turkey was the one who used the axe on a big black mushroom, and instead of walking away, it hopped.

🦃 🦃 🦃

The black blob should look like a Buckeye mascot head.

As for the hopping turkey, I'm stumped

Jumping up and down in victory and/or bouncing to Enter Sandman.

"Exit light..."

It is the Buckeye mascot head Horse. I just tilted it on its side so that it would look as if just cut off. The "nipple" is the hat. I made it all black so that it fit the design style of the original designer. Less is more, silhouette. I decided not to include Brutus' body due to time and because I thought this conveyed the premise. I think most people understood it. The guys at 11 Warriors site seemed to have gotten the point.

Right, I re-read my post and it sounded like, "hmm, I dunno, I thought it should have looked like the buckeye head" whereas it was meant to say "it should look like the buckeye head because it IS the buckeye head"

yep, definitely read it the first way. haha, no worries. It's all in good fun anyway

well, as I said, I spent all of ten minutes on this.

The premise of the original poster being that it was time to cut the head off the turkeys, so I simply reversed the intent. The black blob is indeed just a buckeye head. The hopping kangaroo is a product of google searching Hokie tracks. LINK For some reason they just come that way and I didn't have time to separate them and position them correctly.

So your assumption is partly correct, but it would be the Hokie Bird chopping the head off the Buckeye, a reversal, as I mentioned, of the original designers intent.

I'm somewhat surprised that Braxton is coming back, based on his injury history. I don't know what his draft stock was before getting hurt, but is the risk of a possible recurrence of the injury worth it?

His draft stock wasn't that great to begin with. Given that the shoulder failed the first time he went live, if he went in 2015, it would probably be zero.

This is a dog bites man story, IMO.

Whatever.

Anybody, anywhere, anytime. Thanks, Jim Weaver.

Go Hokies.

Leonard. Duh.

Meyer probably feels guilty that he rushed Braxton back and the kid shredded his shoulder. I really hope he is able to make a full recovery, but a second serious shoulder injury in back to back years is not good. I hope this isn't a Chad Pennington type thing where the guy's never able to fully recover from it and lost out on assured money from the NFL trying to come back too soon from a previous injury.

This is why I wouldn't mind seeing Shai redshirt next season so that he is fully healed and ready to roll for 2016.

It works out better for VT. JT Barrett is developing well for Ohio State and seems to be a better passer than Braxton Miller. Braxton Miller will have a long time without playing in a competitive game before playing in Lane Stadium on Labor Day.

If Meyer would have Miller put into a Percy Harvin type role then he would be an extremely dangerous weapon.

And Michael Brewer has announced that he will still be the Virginia Tech quarterback in 2015.

Good news for VT since Brewer and the offense will be one year older and better.

Allen Ox

there's no guarantee miller will win the starting job. barrett is very talented and is only getting better this year. two significant shoulder injuries could limit miller enough to keep him from starting. we'll see. i'm glad he's in the position to be able to come back. there were rumors floating around about career ending. he's fortunate.

Meyer satated that Miller is QB1 when he returns, regardless of Barrett's performance this season. Unless Miller is still injured, expect him to lead our opponent Labor Day 2015.

Urban Meyer is no stranger to actions that contradict his words. He can state that Miller is the starter on October 2, 2014 all he wants, but I'm positive he'll be starting the QB who gives him the best chance to win come next season. If it's not Miller, he'll find a way to back track and talk his way out of it (likely blaming the injury as lingering and citing what's best for Miller's pro aspirations).

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

Urban Meyer is no stranger to actions that contradict his words

fair point

of course he said that. it's the only thing he could have said that would have kept the wind in barrett and miller's sails. it'll push barrett to be his best. a competition without a competition while miller needs the encouragement and confidence to return.

miller is 5 weeks from having his second shoulder surgery in less than 1 year. despite meyer's statement, no one knows what miller's capabilities will be when (or possibly if) he returns.

If Meyer is still the coach and Miller is fully healthy , expect Miller to start . Bud Foster will be ready for both.

Allen Ox

I'm sure that makes Barrett feel good.

Labor Day Night in Blacksburg. Virginia Tech vs. Ohio State Part 2. The Rematch. Braxton Miller's return in front of a sold out Lane Stadium. Metallica playing Enter Sandman live to kick off a new season. Recruits from all over soaking in an experience like none other. A young team that has eliminated the stupid mistakes and is ready to contend for real. Gameday in the house. And it will all culminate with a huge Hokie victory! Is all this actually going to happen? Probably not, but I can dream.

I like the way you think. that was a beautiful dream.
