Miami - GT
Pitt - UVA
Who are y'all cheering for?
I've got Miami for obvious reasons, but Pitt and UVa are 1-0 in conference. Screw the Hoos, but I wouldn't mind Pitt having a conference loss. I'm not looking forward to that one next week.

I agree with you on all counts. Going for Miami, Pitt/UVA is a toss up.
soooo hasnt Miami played every game at night so far? #goacc
Uggggh ~ Miami Uggggh~ Pitt Just can't do for cadavs .
I said Miami before the game but now I've turned the game on and I hate both teams so much
Ugh, what is Miami wearing? Dark green pants, light orange jersey, and a chrome green helmet?
All that helmet is missing is a Foghorn Leghorn!
Their uniforms look like a peewee team these days.
This must be the "I got dressed in the dark" effect game.
Green and orange just don't match. At all
Which is worse: orange and green or orange and purple?
Orange and blue.
True. But that's a given...
Orange and green. Orange and purple is a little too close to saying maroon and orange
It's OK, no one ever sees them. Home games are empty and all the fans at GT are too busy doing their homework in the stands.
*snerk*
Miami, because we need GT to lose in conference for us to do anything.
Pitt, because I don't want them pissed from a loss coming into the game against us. As long as we beat Pitt, then we should stay ahead of them regardless of the rest of their schedule. Plus, you know, UVA sucks.
Okay, just figured out some scenarios, trying to figure out what VT could do if GT ends up at 7-1.
At the moment, the only undefeated in conference teams are GT, Pitt, and UVA. We know for sure by the end of the night, one of those won't be in that group.
So, if VT wins out, they would be 7-1. That would give everyone else in the division one loss. Then, we have these scenarios for a GT loss:
1.) loss comes from the Atlantic.
In this case, GT would have beaten everyone in the division, which would leave VT and GT as the only 1 loss teams. GT would win on head-to-head.
2.) loss comes from the Pitt/UVA winner.
The winner of the Pitt/UVA game is the only other team that can end up with one loss in this hypothetical (which would be from us). But then the three teams would be in a three way tie at 1-1 against each other, and we'd have to go into those complex #goacc tiebreakers.
3.) loss comes from any other Coastal team.
At the moment, Miami, Duke, and the UVA/Pitt loser have one loss. If we win out, all of them will have two losses, cutting them out of the tie. UNC is already at two losses. So that would leave GT and VT as the only 1 loss teams, and GT has the head-to-head.
So, ultimately, it's best for us if GT gets two conference losses while we keep winning. We all will feel better the sooner that happens, so go Miami!
UVA up 24-3 at half? Who do they think they are, us?
Didn't they have a similar score against Duke last year at halftime?
Yeah I think it was like 22-0.
It's the freaking helmets
GT goes up 21-14...sigh.
I hate myself for cheering for Miami. I feel so dirty cheering for them and pitt too but fuck uva
It's not as bad as that time that I was giddy while UVA was beating Miami 48-0 in their last game in their old stadium.
GT-Miami game is really frustrating.
That's any GT game
Yes, but I meant as far as our motives for this game.
yikes that TD could be the game. Miami has to score fast and hope to get the ball back. If miami can't hep us I bet Duke and/or UNC will want to ruin their year.
Let's get healthy and I'm sure GT will trip up like they do every year.
Clemson
Changed due to 3 comments below of clarifying GT needing 2 L's in ACC period.
How crazy would it be if... VT vs Hoos decided the Coastal winner this year.. What a way to cap off 11 great years!!!!!!
I think that was a Clemsoning reference...
I hope soo because we need some help from other Coastal teams..
Everyone said going into this week that Williams was going to be the best QB we face the rest of the regular season. If that's true, gotta feel good going forward. I know Tech recruited that kid hard, but I'd rather have Brewer right now over Williams. Granted Williams played a STELLAR defense, but I really haven't been sold on him at all in any of the times I've watched him play. Doesn't help his confidence that UNC sticks with the two QB system either tho
A win from a Coastal team is better than a Clemson win. We have a chance to get into a 3-way tie, which we can enter the ACCCG by BCS standings. Well, actually I don't know what happens when 3 teams are 7-1 and all tiebreakers are equal. Which rankings they would use? Maybe AP? Did they update this tie-breaker rule?
Tiebreakers: http://www.theacc.com/#!/page/ACC-Football-Championship-Tiebreakers
As I mentioned elsewhere, there is only one situation where we can force a three way tie, and that is if UVA beats GT, and we beat UVA.
Going through the tiebreakers:
1. Combined head-to-head winning percentage among the tied teams.
Everyone would be 1-1, so we keep going.
2. Winning percentage of the tied teams within the division.
Everyone would be 5-1 against the division, so we keep going.
3.Head-to-head competition versus the team within the division with the best overall (divisional and non-divisional) Conference winning percentage, and proceeding through the division. Multiple ties within the division will be broken first to last, using the leagues tie-breaking procedures.
It's way too early to figure this one out.
Poll rankings are the 7th tiebreaker.
If GT ends at 7-1, and that one loss is from the Atlantic, we're screwed. That would mean that every other Coastal team has at least two losses (one from each Tech), and then GT would get us on head-to-head.
A GT loss to Clemson helps us. It's overall conference record first, then the first tiebreaker is intra-division. So if GT loses to Clemson, they only need one more loss if we were to win out.
correct. We need two ACC teams to beat GT. Doesn't have to be Coastal.
really that is crazyyy.. But Great Success for us!!!!!!!
Still holds true.
agreed. sadly Miami's D is lets say slow and has no big players other than the LB to create a turnover/big play
I really, really hope that GT loss doesn't come back to haunt the Hokies.
GAAMEEE OVERRRR ... Miami fumbles and GT will surely see the rest of the game out.
EDIT his knee was down.. lucky lucky..
Deleted.
you going up for the miami game???
It was either GT or Miami and I went to GT (unfortunately). I don't think I can make it to another game. The trip up from Orlando set me back quite a bit.
ahh gotcha.. I picked the U game this year.. absolutely wanted to go for a Thursday Night game at Lane.. did you drive??
I really wanted to go to the Thursday night game too, but my girlfriend had work and I wasn't driving up alone. Yeah, we drove. Plane tickets are ridiculously expensive for anyone, much less two college students.
for sure.. We're driving up, taking the whole day Wednesday. Also sneaking in a weekend stop in NC for the gfs family and of course some brewery tours on saturday and sunday!
10 hours will be fun lol.. I've driven to Ohio so I should be fine but its still going to be a long one
Yeah, if she wasn't scheduled to work that whole weekend Thursday to Sunday, I would've gone to that game. The last Thursday night game I was at (October 25, 2007) left a bad taste. I had never driven that distance before but it was fun. We stopped in Savannah for an hour, and a really good barbeque place in NC called Parker's. Then we stayed at my mom's in Richmond VA for two nights thurs and Fri and left to drive all the way back after the game Saturday. Talk about a long drive. Especially after that loss.
ohh yeah that sounds like a great trip up until the long drive home.. First Thursday night game for myself and snagged some sick seats a while ago! If GT wins the Coastal I will be so disgusted..
They have an interesting matchup with UNC next week. I really hope they don't win it either. Especially since we threw away the game against them.
Can Pitt complete the comeback?
Nope.
yeah UVA seemed to stall in the 2nd half a lot of punts for sure Pitt couldn't capitalize
Nope.
I'm now annoyed at every Coastal team except us.
UNC -- broke our running backs.
Miami -- couldn't beat GT.
Duke -- couldn't beat Miami last week to give me hope that you can beat GT next week.
GT -- they exist.
Pitt -- couldn't beat UVA.
UVA -- they didn't lose.
You just put into words what I never could
Are you ever not annoyed with UVA?
Not an ACC game but did anyone see the last play of the ASU-USC game?!?!
Yep. I think I've only seen one other Hail Mary pass work, ever (Michigan State a couple years back). Well, live, since I've seen a couple on replays, but still pretty rare.
I dont think I've ever seen one live. On top of that I have a cousin who graduated from ASU and cant stand USC. I was jumping around like the hokies had just beat OSU
This about sums it up:
That is just glorious
Unreal!
Arizona St. and Arizona have now won pac 12 games this year on similar hail marys. Here's the Arizona one that not many saw because the game was so late...
