Last year the University of Virginia had a huge clock counting down the days they finally ended their losing streak against Virginia Tech. This year, the Cavaliers are 2-0 in the ACC and are quietly counting down the days they meet the Hokies again hoping the outcome will be different. With new faces on both sides of the ball and a new QG under center, the Hoos see it as a perfect opportunity to end the 10 years losing streak. Many ESPN analysts agree that this could be the year UVA defeats the Hokies at their own stadium. Like years past, Frank Beamer and his young team will have something to say about that.

NO.
Does this look like the face of a coach that is ready to lose to LOLUVA?
Bud Foster interviewed for the Head Coaching job at UVA as well as Clemson. As with nearly anyone in this business of coaching," BIG MONEY" can change your allegiance in a nano sec. Me personally .....wish they had hired him instead of Al Groh.
Bud ever going to UVA?!

I disagree with you there. Having Bud Foster as LOLUVA coach would've been a disaster because their losing streak woulve been over by now. I'm glad Bud is still leading the Hokies defense. The only program I want to see Bud lead is the Hokies.
I think a Hoo posted that. It'd make sense why he or she would want Bud.
here's the official transcript of the interview:
LOLUVA "So Mr. Foster, there really is no interview, you're our guy.. just name your price"
Bud "I don't want your ****ing job, I came to laugh in your face when you offered it to me.... later losers"
Way too early to even be thinking about this. We don't know what the injury status will be at that point, what each team will be playing for at the end of the year, etc. Let's take up the topic in another 6 weeks or so.
Exactly. This isn't that site that LOLUVa tries to pawn off as a sports board.
Exactly right. We need to focus on Pittsburgh and getting healthy right now.
Intenet glitch; double post.
I think we're really inconsistent this year and if there ever was a chance for them to beat us it's now. As much as I hate UVA denying the fact that they're a good team is being way too biased.
I'm not buying the UVa is a good team thing yet. They're 2-0 at home against mediocre teams in the conference.
They kept the UCLA game close, but UCLA's stock is falling, and that was first game of the year for a West Coast team playing a nooner on the East Coast.
Make no mistake, UVA is a respectable bowl-bound team this year (surprisingly), but they will have 2 more losses before they face us.
On the plus side London will be around for at least another year. LOLUVA has to beat us eventually, but I don't think it will be this year.
Louisville is a good team, not great but good. BYU with Taysom Hill is a good team as well and UVA kept that game close for awhile in Provo. It's easy to come up with excuses for why they're 4-2 and 2-0 in conference, but they're still a good team. I can probably come up with a reason every team in the country is overrated if I really wanted to.
I'm not sure Loserville is a good team. They struggled with Cuse....and that team is terrible.
BYU ended up losing the very next week......of course that was without Taysom Hill.
I know that one day the streak will end.....But I don't think it is this year (of course I never think it will be this year!!)
I'm not buying that, at least not yet. Everyone is saying, yeah I think UVA could make a bowl game this year. No one ever says that about Tech because it's a given. I don't know how anyone could think right now the Hoos are any better than any team in the coastal. If you wanna argue GT, I'll listen. But I'm just 1) tired of hearing this noise every year and 2) think it's too early to say they've still got a really good shot to beat us. Agree with Guitar guy who said let's talk about this in 6 weeks, which is ironic since I am currently going off on a rant :-)
I never said they're better than us or anything better than a 6-6 or 7-5 team, but they're still a good team who has a chance to beat us considering our inconsistency.
I don't buy GT as all that great and fully expect them to drop 2 of their next 4. We handed them that game 7 times and on the last one they finally took advantage.
I've been having terrible thoughts about the game this year. Just gotta have
faith in our team.
We have had a significant QB advantage every year since Schaub left. It is still unclear if we will have that same advantage this year.
I agree with Guitarman that this is way too early.
However, there is a 1000% chance that this will NOT be the year that I break my lifetime streak of pulling for the Hokies and hating on the Hoos.
UPVOTES for all!!!!!!!!!
The streak has become a beast in itself. Would you want to be a member of the football that ended the streak from a Hokie Nation point of view? NO. And that is why the streak will continue.
Would you want to be a member of an OSU team that breaks the streak of home opener wins? Oh wait....
Would you want to be a member of an Alabama team that breaks the win streak over Ole Miss? Oh wait....
Guess this is why they play the games.
I suppose in the same way that the odds seem to favor intelligent life existing somewhere else in the universe, I suppose eventually, some how , some way, UVa will beat VT.
Andrea Adelson, you lost me after your 2nd sentence....
I'm lost after the first sentence. How do I get to the second one?
I can't be hearing this right....
The last time the "media" thought UVA would beat us......38-0 happened !!
I have already
started thinking
about this
A lot of good that countdown clock has done for them.
We don't have a clock. We have a Cup.
- James Gayle, The Great
Besides, VT tends to play uva very well when the Coastal is on the line (2007, 2008, and 2011).
James Gayle quotes never grow old.
Honestly, the way both teams are playing, if we played this week, Virginia would likely beat us. That has everything to do with the inconsistencies in our OL, the injuries, especially at RB, Brewer's tendency to throw the ball to the wrong team, and our abilities to give up big plays on defense. They have a very good DL, and if we don't improve a lot, their defense will eat us alive in the trenches.
The good thing is, the game is over a month and a half away. Plenty of time for us to get playing at a high level, and plenty of time for them to crumble. We have more talent across the board and far more depth than they do, and it should play out as the season progresses. They have a very good starting defense, but behind them they have a bunch of crap. I'm not confident their successes will continue through the ACC schedule.
Agree with all of this, but they would struggle to score against us big time. We'll see in a month and a half and I'm willing to bet both teams will look a lot different.
It's an ESPN article. 'Nuff said.
Using the Wahoo's logic from last year, we're better on 3rd down defense therefore we have the better chance of winning the game
Is'nt it about time for their annual collapse? Might be concerned if anyone but Andrea Adelson said. they might be a great team. She has repeatedly shown she does not know what she is talking about. Andrea, a team with 2 loses already is NOT a great team!
The annual collapse normally starts around Sept 1st. They just delayed it a little this year.
Honestly, as much as we all dislike LOLUVA, wouldn't it be great to battle them for the coastal division at Lane on Black Friday. Heck, I hope they beat GT and help us gain back control of our own destiny. Don't get me wrong, I won't be cheering for them, but should it happen I won't be upset.
Yep, it would be great for this game to mean the division. I look at their team and not see a lot of holes. We know about the defense, its opportunistic and has solid players at every level. The WR corps is deep and talented. Two or three solid RB's (depends on your current thoughts about the great Smoke Mizzell). OL is a question mark and their QB situation is unclear. I would not be surprised to see them go 4-1 leading up to our game. All four of those wins are possibly loses too, but uva looks strong.
I can't...I mean...what?
It's like when I watch "Gone With the Wind" over and over, thinking maybe the South will win this time.
Whoa. "Spoiler Alert" next time please!
Just a small point of clarification. The countdown clock has been a thing since back in the AlGroh era. It's just outside the entrance to their practice locker room, in McCue Hall. It has a countdown to their next game at the top, and a countdown to the Virginia Tech game at the bottom. The last time LOLUVA beat us, the clock didn't exist.
looking at the clock, how many days have the hokies been commonwealth cup champion?
http://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?iso=20041127T1605&p0=881&ms...
bruh, you got flair!
I spent a while trying to find an awesome Office Space GIF as my reply, but all of them seemed to be Jennifer Aniston flipping the bird. As funny as that is, I figured it would be taken the wrong way...
guitarman be like

and i'm all

3601 days is a lot of days no matter what clock you use.
I wonder if the clock says, "It's 5:00 somewhere"
We should counter this with a clock that counts up for time of Commonwealth Cup possession.
Not sure it's been pointed out, but even as careless as Brewer has been with the ball at times this year, LOLUVA still has more turnovers than we do... And Bud always has something in store for them anyway
Their douchebaggery cannot be overstated..I hate them and they suk PERIOD
Frickin' LOLUVA...
We aint losing to these softies...
UNC is going to be the ACC champ, so I'm not even sure if it really matters. I already bought t-shirts for the entire team, as well as all the other teams in the ACC.
How are the Coastal rings looking, Coach?
To be honest if the coaches and players are thinking about anything other than Pitt I will be disappointed
Seems unlikely that the players would be thinking about UVA at this point.
Hell, they havn't had to worry about them for a decade. Why start now?
I'm thinking about unicorns and recruiticorns and corn dogs.
Do coaches and players post on TKP?
...maybe
Mike London and the UVA Thoroughbreds better get used to losing. seriously, how many years do they have to get beat before they accept the fact they are an inferior football team ?
Obviously the Hoos are much improved and anyone paying attention should've seen it coming with the recruiting they've been doing. That's the thing though, they've had better teams over the years and those seem to be the years we thump them even harder (07, 11). Their D is for real but the O is well, to be determined.
Look, they're gonna beat us one of these years, and it'll be horrible but I see no reason to be more worried this year than in years past.
Nailed it!
I hope to God they run the table up to Black Friday, so they march into Lane with their heads held high, just in time for us to punch them in the trachea and make them remember who they are.
This is our Commonwealth. Fuck UVA.
EDIT: No, they won't beat us this year.
Preach it!

Cue the Colin Cowherd tirade....
Take that UVA fans. Be quiet until you get one big win in the history of your program. Go Herd!
I'll let Darth answer this!
Let's worry about that when we get to that game. In the meantime...don't make me laugh, please!
