Not all that uncommon. There are several principals and teachers here in Loudoun County that meake deals with their students to entice them to read. Hell one principal told his students if they hit a certain reading goal as a school, he would eat stink bugs.

(They were cooked by a formal chef and he used them as a topping on chicken tacos. Surprisingly they tasted like cilantro.)

When I was in third grade, our principal made a deal with the school. I may have forgotten all of the details, but we had a reading goal. Every time a student in the school finished reading a book, we got to put a little paper cutout in the hallway. If they spanned the length of every wall in the school (just a single row along the top of the wall that the teachers put up), the principal would sit on the roof all day and read any book we passed up to him. He was a fisherman, so what he did was lower a bucket with his fishing pole and the kids would come up and deposit books. He would read them (or at least parts of them) and send them back down with notes about what he liked, questions for the students about what they thought, etc. It was such a cool thing to witness as a kid. Fun day. I liked that principal a lot.

By the way you ended that post in assuming you left him up there to die of exposure.

Ha, not quite, but I can see what you mean. For anyone who was concerned, he came down at the end of the day, worked for several more years, and retired happily.

I'm from the Richmond area and anyone from around here knows how awful George Wythe is at football. If you don't believe me, check this out: http://www.timesdispatch.com/sports/george-wythe-snaps--game-losing-streak/article_9967e364-a4ad-5d93-978b-79d6f5dd9278.html

They then went on a 26-game losing streak (dating back to the previous 2011 win), until they finally won a game two weeks ago. Brutal
