Unfortunately, we have to wait a few more days to watch the Hokies play.
Good news though, it's still Saturday. This weekend is the midpoint of the season for many teams. There's a solid lineup of games today headlined by No. 2 Auburn at No. 3 Mississippi State, No. 9 TCU at No. 5 Baylor and No. 12 Oregon at No. 18 UCLA. All three of those games kick off at 3:30 PM. The Red River Shootout is on at noon, if you're into that traditional matchup, but the appeal isn't there. The most intriguing thing about Texas is Charlie Strong booting players from his team, and Oklahoma isn't undefeated.
Duke at No. 22 Georgia Tech will get my full attention at noon-thirty. It's no secret that Virginia Tech needs to win its games and get some help. The Blue Devils knocking off the Bees in Atlanta would be the next best thing to watching Virginia Tech play.

I got to watch a spike and a 6 ptr spar in front of me for the better part of the morning. I thought it would do them good to grow a little bit. That capped off with the Blue Devils taking care of business and a few New Belgium Pumkick's and I'd say all in all it was a pretty good day.
Hopefully next Saturday I'll have the satisfaction of a Thursday night victory coursing through my mind as I draw back on a monster. I believe one half of that will be easier to achieve than the other, but go big or go home, right?

Its bow season down here in FL also. I go out with my brother in law sometimes on his air boat to hunting grounds in the swamps. You see some interesting stuff (i.e., large gators!!, water moccasins, pygmy rattlers, coyotes, rosette spoonbills - those are really cool to watch - and oh yes, hogs n deer). I like the hills and mountains better.

Completely OT, but I need to vent. I am trying to buy a car, and the dealer I talked to last night is (allegedly) a ND alum who (allegedly) played football in the 90's. He told me "I don't know how you do things at Vah Tech, but at South Bend we're all about integrity." He then proceeded to tell me that the price he was offering was way below what they payed for it. I asked how much he payed for it, and he pointed to the sticker price. I told him that I had a hard time believing the invoice price was the same as the sticker price and he told me "that's not really the sticker price, I checked, and it was a mistake." So I've been negotiating with this same dealership for 3 days and I don't even know what the sticker price of the car is. I also checked when I got home, and his name wasn't on any ND rosters for the years he claimed to play.
TL:DR: Buying a car is frustrating and ND sucks.
I'm gonna go out on a limb here, but insulting the integrity of your customer's school is probably not what you should lead with, especially when said school runs a pretty darn clean program and yours is currently in the middle of an academic investigation.
I don't think he was insulting the integrity of VT as much as he was trying to flaunt his ND ties. This is the fourth dealer I've talked to, and it seemed like he was trying to relate to me by swapping university experiences and talking football. But they greatly underestimate how little I care if I buy this car or not, and every day I've talked to them, someone new has told me something that isn't true. It's my first car buying experience and I'm just astounded at how stupid these grown ass men think I am.

I suspect his angle was to establish his integrity. He just did it in a really, really dumb way.
Be honest. If he had said:
"Virginia Tech, now that's a program with integrity. I love coach Beamer. I played football in college, and I would be proud to play for a team like that..."
Would you be more or less likely to 1) trust and 2) purchase a fine new automobile from that person? The answer to both questions is probably yes, and it probably occurs at a subconscious level.
This is why I have established a mandatory cooling off period in any negotiation in the hokienomics school of business and economics and negotiations. The ones who seem the nicest are usually the most evil.
The thing is, I had already been lied to so many times, that I was going to be dubious no matter what he said. I've repeatedly told everyone I've talked to my most is important selling point is having time to think about the decision. Then they give me "once in a lifetime offer" that's only good if I sign right now, and I decline because I want time to think about. Then they call me again the next day and we rinse and repeat. It's annoying, but I've also inadvertently negotiated them down about $4000 just by not wanting to commit to anything on the spot.
I'll give you a turkey leg for being smart. You win a negotiation before it happens with research. Then when you're in process, ask a lot of questions. Then when you have to decide, take your time. When someone says you have to commit right now, you know it's a bad offer.
I've heard amazing stories about the lies people tell in negotiations. A guy went to claim a warranty from a car dealer for a lemon he bought, but the dealer told him the warranty was issued by a different company, and that company went out of business. A little research showed the warranty company was a wholly owned subsidiary of the dealer. He got his money back.
All about integrity, huh?

Sorry, but have to downvote this. I don't think spamming every single thread with the same message is an appropriate way to get legs. I think spamming should be added to the no-no list in the community guidelines.
Spamming has always been implicitly against guidelines. It's sort of worked into the first point, though not explicitly.
I tend to agree, though I am not downvoting (that would undo about a month's worth of USAFHokie's legs). Posting "please give me turkey legs so I can [vote, post, increase my rank on the big board, etc]" is sort of the against the point. Posting it multiple times across different threads is spam and it is unnecessary.
Posting new threads helps weed out junk from people who don't know what's going on (which may not be relevant here for someone who's been a member for a few months, but still, that's the policy). At this point, since you can't get legs simply for posting comments (thankfully, otherwise people get rewarded for spamming), that means only people who have demonstrated that they know how to engage in the community constructively can start new threads that are worthwhile. A few weeks back, there were 20 new threads a day, many repetitive and most full of crap that was basically just any thought that popped into someone's head. It buried the real, worthwhile, content on the site.
If the story is great, it will still be great whenever the individual wanting to post it will be able to. If it's epic and urgent, then appeal to Joe for a rule change.
Or post some UVA jokes, those are always good for a quick +20.

That win was almost as satisfying as the Hokies win over OSU earlier this year. Mainly because my wife is a Seahawks fan and I've now got the bragging rights (at least until the playoffs. ..assuming we make it)
