I think Loeffler will try to supplement the running game with the short passing game. Until it was mentioned on the pod, I had not given much thought to Bucky being more of a running threat out of the Wild Turkey. That's intriguing, and it could very well be another way Loeffler boosts the ground attack.

I really hope Caleb is the featured back tomorrow night.

Heard the bit about JC Coleman, I think the pitch could work for JC (Like Duke Game), Off tackle runs like the NC Touchdown. I don't think he's a jet sweep guy. But I think there is something missing here either in design of plays or just having too many guys at the spot. I don;t know but I feel like there is a role for JC coleman.

He took a pitch vs. GT and promptly ran out of bounds with barely a touch. Brutally honest: JC isn't very fast, isn't very quick, isn't very elusive, and isn't hard to bring down....I just don't see any role where he could be effective. I'm not sure he would be playing for any other FBS school

I think in the podcast one of the guys mentioned that JC could carry the ball just like a regular running back and not try special runs with him. I tend to agree, we had small guys like Mike Imoh who succeeded with this type of a gameplan. I'm still not sure how much the running backs in general are impacted by play-calling. Sometimes we might call it a wasted play like the JC run to the outside but perhaps Lefty is trying to throw-of the opponent. I don't know. I'm not sold on the identity of our offense just yet. We were told last season it was a pro-style offense yet there was a lot of zone read. This season we didn't get much of hint in pre-season and then we see a lot of throws, WR Runs with Newsome, a little bucky - I guess right now you could call it a mix. I did like the run game in the last 2 games, still hoping that our O-line can hold up and try to play more hat-on-hat.

I agree with your last sentiment in general terms, but if this week's opponent is strong against the run up the middle and weak on the edges and in the secondary, I would rather see Lefty outrun them than pound them. Especially with our top three TBs in the training room.

"Our job as coaches is to influence young people's lives for the better in terms of fundamental skills, work ethic, and doing the right thing. Every now and again, a player actually has that effect on the coaching staff." Justin Fuente on Sam Rogers

I'm also wondering if Lefty is the only one in charge of play-calling. I know in the O'Cain days at some point he was also calling plays inside the 2 minute drill.

Loeffler's DEFINITELY the sole playcaller now. 100% sure on that.

Dude, you're way too young. You're dating yourself in a bad way.

Not the bagman VT deserves, but the bagman VT needs right now.
