Our last game against UNC saw a great joke/bet tweet from twitterer @OldKingMattCole turn into an awesome charity effort for the TKP community. In honor of Michael Brewer's nearly turnover-less day, we raised almost $3000 for the St. Jude Children's Hospital.
I want to keep the spirit of this going all season. Each week we'll come up with some new and semi-relevant challenge to help determine how much we are going to donate that week. I am personally going to keep the dollar amounts relatively low, keeping in mind a tight budget and a long season, but y'all feel free to go crazy if you want.
I am going to donate $3 for every punt on Thursday night or $25, whichever is more. I don't care which teams does it, or if the result of the play is a fake, block, touchback, or touchdown, if there is a punter on the field when the ball is snapped then I am going to give money to kids with cancer.
Joe set up a donation page here so we can keep track of our efforts all season long.
Who's with me?

There was a post on a news story that covered this. Ahh yes it was cleverly disguised with dork magic. For above:

Thanks, I've fixed it.
I'm sticking with the no interceptions deal. Any game Brewer doesn't throw an interception I'll donate $5. If he doesn't go a game without an interception I'll donate $1 for each interception he throws at the end of the season. That's all I can afford on my student non-income.
$20 if the Hokies commit no penalties. Deduct $0.10 for every penalty yard. If, for any (horrible) reason why the donation goes below $0, donate $20 out of pity. But in that case, we might have to donate to the American Heart Association on behalf of whichever coach's unit is responsible for the most penalties.
If it is a player, especially one of Bud's boys, wouldn't that donation to go to the "Death Stare and Ass Chewing Victims Association" ?
More like the "Pulsing Forehead Vein Relief Fund"
I'm planning on donating $5. It's not much, but I have rent to pay. They don't just let you use Heinz Field for free.
I'm not up-voting this. Cheap bastard...
But I'll donate in line with everyone else that is.
Game day bump, let's punt for cancer!
Just donated $20 in honor of my son, a leukemia survivor.
(I cannot say enough good about St. Judes and this campaign!!!)
Agreed - a great cause!
An example of a student run event for pediatric cancer:
Have you heard about Penn State's THON event that they do every year? It's the largest student-run philanthropic event in the world. Last year they raised over $14 to donate to the Four Diamonds Fund, which goes to offset the cost of treatments/expenses associated with pediatric cancer.
Students dance for 46 hours straight in a Dance Marathon. It's simply amazing.
HOAT - I'm sure you know about THON, since you're in State College.
http://thon.org/
THON is awesome, and they raise mad money for a truly deserving cause.
(Know one of the professors that helps with the PGM program. He's threatened to bring a golf tournament to OC, MD for years to raise money for THON. One of his high school teammates on the golf team missed his senior year from leukemia treatments. We put on a big benefit for him shortly before my son was diagnosed. I send money up to PSU for THON thru him frequently.)
Very nice! It is simply amazing what these organizations can do for people.
Yup, THON is a student favorite up here, and deservedly so.
$25 for every Fuller interception and every Dadi sack
If Dadi is as proficient as last year, you might be out about $200.
Ok, here's mine. For every Hokie who scores points tonight -- whether on offense, defense, or special teams -- take his jersey number. Add them all up. That's my pledge. Yes, I'm aware that Joey Slye wears #46. I hope he makes every single attempt. Given his family history, and the fact that this is for St. Jude's, it would be an honor, even if I do have to give up my paid TKP subscription. Oh wait . . .
For those who may have missed the story on the Slye family . . .

After reading this, count me in, again. I'll donate money for every point Slye scores, in honor of his brother. If it's an PAT, $5 and $3 for 3's.
Well, now I'm hoping even harder for a Corey Marshall scoop and score.
AND the long-awaited David Wang TD! Bonus pledge for illegal celebratory punts from the end zone :)
Done! 46, 46, 46, 18, 46 . . . right? Well at least something good came out of this evening.
I'll hit this one as well. That's a good way to pledge.
We passed $3100 tonight.
Wonder if anyone over at St. Jude's is looking at all these odd donation amounts and thinking, "What the heck is a Hokie . . . and what do they have against round numbers?"
I bet they are saying fantastic!
Welp. 14 punts? I hope a lot of kids have cancer, because they are going to be flush with all of my lunch money.
No, wait. . . that came out wrong. I hope there are a lot of hungry kids out there because. . . I'm going to quit while I am behind.
