Bud Foster

What are the chances Bud Foster becomes Head Coach whenever Beamer decides to retire? I've always wanted Bud Foster to become the head coach of the Hokies. Do you see this happening or do you think Whit decides to go a different direction? And if Whit goes a different direction does Bud leave?

We were chatting about this on twitter Thursday. I always heard that under Jimothy Weaver that there would be no chance Bud would be head coach. Now? I'm not sure. I'm not close enough to the program to hear much. If there was one assistant coach that I wouldn't want to inherit the job it would be our running backs coach.

I have no idea why my username is VT_Warthog.

Arkansas blew a 24-0 lead in the Belk Bowl.

Please see one of the other dozen or so posts on this topic.

Since none of this matters before January 2017 at the earliest, I don't see much point in generating yet another discussion on it. Frank just signed an extension through the 2019 season, so we might be six years removed from even discussing it. Three years ago, I saw lots of message board posts that supported Stinespring as the head coach. If that doesn't tell you how things change, and how pointless this entire thread is, i don't know what would.

Please think of a more pertinent topic to generate discussion. This one is as worthless as the ridiculous one that accused Pitt of cheating us out of a win with a faulty play clock.

Not entirely,

If conference championships are the measuring stick of success it may be time to actually start thinking about it. Since the start of the Bowl Era at VT (1992) Vt has only gone more than 3 years without a conference championship twice. The first time was 1999-2004. Plenty of valid reasons then.

And Now. 2010 - today. And now with Duke's win today it's settlling into Coastal leader.

So that's why

Why all the "topic police" comments of lately. I mean geesh....this is a free website, free country, free speech, so let the man write what ever the heck he wants to write. Its your opinion that it is worthless and if that's your opinion then don't read it!

I wouldn't say worthless. Here me out. Blacksburg for the most part, has been untouched the CFB's coaching carousel. The most silmilar situation is Lloyd Carr. Won the NC, great coach, but eventually lost his team, and was out. No one is saying Coach Beamer will suffer the same fate but *if the trend of losing continues, that extension won't matter.* Babock is a respectable AD but he's a business man. You never know what he might try to do. I'm sure he won't go the route of suggesting Coach Beamer retire, or at least I hope not.

So what would that contract extension be worth if the team isn't winning? I mean we should be winning when the time comes, all that "young" talent should be showing out. What happens if it doesn't? It'll just be a shame. Now, look at Bud Foster on the sidelines. He's intense, he's interacting with his players, and his coaches know whats up. No one questions his position coaches. Why would they not give the team to him? Oh sure everyone says he might not have what it takes to be a HC. On the other hand, all these years under Coach Beamer, and he hasn't learned anything? I think he'll be fine.

But the question must be: What is good for the program? Bud Foster, the man who's defense has given us more chances to win games than anyone can count, or a new face (maybe the hottest coach in CFB at the time)? Maybe secretly, there's already been an unoffical deal made that Coach Foster will take over.
