ACC Network for October 18: http://www.theacc.com/#!/news-detail/acc-network-affiliates-october-18-v...
Mostly the same channels across Virginia and DC. The only change is that ACC Network is moving back to WDBJ from Fox 21/27 in the New River Valley, since CBS doesn't have a noon game this week.
DC - My20 (WDCA)
Blacksburg - CBS 7 (WDBJ)
Richmond - Fox 35 (WRLH)
Tidewater - CW 27 (WGNT)
Hooville - NBC 29 (WVIR)
Harrisonburg - My4 (they've had all the ACC Network games so far, but I haven't listed them since I figure most people in that area can get the games on more prominent stations from Hooville or DC.)
Go Duke!

Never have I ever:
1) Cheered for Duke football two weeks in a row
I couldn't care less who wins this game. I just want GT to lose another so that the Hokies are in control of their own destiny. If UVA is undefeated in ACC play and then a one loss Hokie team stomps them down...all the sweeter. Same for Duke. I want to crush their dreams also. Revenge is a dish best eaten. Period.
I've never really hated Duke. They've been the poor little brother of the ACC that irritated me when they beat us. If we can't win the division in a given year, I'd rather see Duke take it than just about any other team. (I'll probably regret that statement at some point in the future.)
I hate UVA. I want to see them lose every game. I want to see them lose at life (which they kind of already do anyway.)
If the division aligns to the point where it comes down to VT vs. UVA, winner take all for the Coastal...I'd rather have UVA with a loss. That way, if the unthinkable happens and they return to C-ville with the Cup, at least they're only one game ahead of us, and not two.
Sometimes I think Duke basketball hate spills over, but yeah, it's historically been hard to hate Duke football because they're so bad. Beat us a few more times and I'll find it in me, though.
LOLUVA, however, despite historically being terrible, is easy to hate because of their alumni and students.
Duke\LOL. Whichever team loses we Win.
Pretty much the definition of "Meh".
I've got an awesome Hokie story from Russia. Can't post it without some legs. Help a Hokie brother out?
I swear I have seen this same comment on 3 different threads...
What have you done for me lately? Tell me a Duke or Hoo joke. Talk about our Wang at least.
Give me something, and I'll give you a leg.
Or at least just tell us the Russia hokie story.
Hell, I'd settle for a Romania Hokie story, just so he doesn't waste the Russian one in comments.
Hint: It doesn't even have to be true.
This is starting t look like a ploy for legs. How many does he need to do a thread? I think he is already there, right? If not, my bad. If so, tell the story or were wise to your ploy...
You need 100 to start a thread. If it's a good story, just tell it in one of the OT threads that are already out there. We're bored, it's a bye week, entertain us.
If UNC beats GT on Saturday, am I correct in thinking we control our own destiny? That is predicated on us winning this Thursday, of course.
Yes
Duke's schedule is quite easy. Teamrankings lists their road trip to Pitt as the most difficult game, but currently giving Duke a 51% chance at victory there. Then 60% home vs. VT, 67% road vs. Syracuse, 73% home vs. uva and 78% home vs. UNC and 94% vs. Wake.
For comparison, VT is expected to lose to Duke (40%) and win against Pitt (51%), Miami (63%), BC (73%), uva (73%) and Wake (85%).
Hating myself a little for saying this, but:
I'd be satisfied with that.
I want it all, but if we only lose one more game this year, I'd call it a success.
Winning season is a success for me.
We aren't UVa, and this isn't baseball. Simply going over 0.500 is not a success for VT football
Remembering Hokies seasons when we couldn't say we had a winning season, I must have lower expectations. It is easy to happy with lower expectations and then winning the coastal, ACC, etc are just really great surprises.
After reading that, I just have to laugh remembering all the staunch defenders of Frank keeping his dusty trophy case up - 'Reserved For The National Championship Trophy' - for so many years while it was obvious we weren't even close.
Now we've got people who are happy with a 7-6 season. And before the inevitable knee jerk - yes, I am old enough to have sat through the VMI game in the freezing cold. Which I did, before going to Mr. Fooz & trying to thaw out.
2-8-1. I remember that year. In comparison, 7-5 is a great season.
Actually, you don't remember it at all. You were in far too big of a hurry to respond to my comment. How do I know that? Because Frank wasn't even the head coach, and the year you're referring to was 1992. We did not play VMI in 1992.
The year we lost to VMI in the freezing cold was 1981, when we finished 7-4 under Bill Dooley. That was followed by three other seasons where we won 7-9 games. So... thanks for rushing to defend the empty trophy case comment and making me laugh more.
And you were very quick to type up a seriously condescending reply. I think HokieAlum was making a more generic point, which you now want to flame. Don't do that, please.
I don't think he was making a generic point at all, especially when it was based on something very specific and very erroneous. Since his comment was so far off factually, I responded as I did. Obviously, you disapprove and the topic still is very sensitive for some. I'll move along.
Read the post below, I was actually right. Not to try to win an argument; I'm trying to point out that yes, you overreacted and disrespected a fellow TKPer by jumping to a conclusion. I'm glad to move along, but I need to point this out to maintain the quality of the community here.
Guitarman had it right, I wasn't referring to that specific game (Aka VMI) I was referring to the 1992 season when I first started at Tech.
If VT wants a chance at sniffing Charlotte, we need Duke to win.
That, and I just hate UVA, and hate the thought of them having a better season than us.
And just when I need it most, LOLUVA comes through for me.
Mike, you are down by 7 at midfield with 8 seconds to play.

What do you do?
I absolutely believe WE CAN NOT lose another ACC game, much less a division game if we want a shot at returning to Charlotte. That being said, congrats Duke and thank you!
6-2 in the ACC is no guarantee to get to Charlotte. Duke is in the drivers seat now, and has an easier schedule left than we do. 5-3 is probably right out.
6-2 at least gets us close. 6-2 puts us in better shape than Duke. 6-2 means that the only results we need outside of our control are 2 more losses to each GT and Pitt, with a few scenarios where only more 1 loss by one of those teams would get us in via 3-way tie. And you'll have a tough time convincing me that Pitt won't lose at least 2 the rest of the way, and GT has a tough road as well.
We weren't eliminated from ACCCG contention on Thursday. It just made it a lot less out of our control, and quite a bit less likely.
It's kinda sad to continue to see the mild delusion of our fan base at the moment regarding the state of our program.
We are in a division where DUKE is clearly better than us over the last 2 seasons, and we still keep talking about our chances. DUKE!!!
Or talking about "wait till 2016, wait till 2016!!" What will happen then, we will not be all that great just like the last decade?
Look at how many freshman starters we have and then maybe you'll get some idea of why 2016 could conceivably be better than 2014.
I didn't say 2016 won't be better than 2014. At this point accomplishing that really wouldn't be that difficult.
But how much offensive talent have we seen wasted over the years, and what about the current in field results via coaching would lead you to believe that will change?
Yet another thing I see all the time that just doesn't make sense: "we did this thing 10 years ago, so now the current coaching staff is going to do the same thing!" Yeah, not following that.
Sorry, tangent. Back to the question. We saw time and time again last year, and to a certain extent this year, of Lefty making the most out of what he has. We see plays that build off of each other and some semblance of an offensive system (especially when guys are healthy and lined up properly). Personally, I'm excited to see what the offense will look like once he's playing with a full deck. On top of that, just look at the job Moorehead did last year with less-than-dominant receivers. The man knows how to coach and get his players to make plays. Then we get to Searels who is already one of my favorites by the simple fact that he isn't Curt Newsome. He's done well enough at some big-time schools to give us confidence in his coaching ability by his resume alone (and I've gotten the feeling by seeing him work that he wasn't experiencing a Kiffin-esque falling-up phenomenon). There's just more energy around the program and in practice than we've seen before, which is why I don't think the talent coming in will be squandered as it has been in the past.
Because nothing is over until Thanksgiving weekend, that's why.
I don't give up hope on winning the Coastal until someone else clenches it. The 2008 team got there.
That's really just further validating the point I am making.
Virginia Tech is in a mediocre division to say the least, and we arn't even good enough to compete for it last year and seemingly this year.
It is sad to continue to see the mild delusion of our fan base at the moment thinking Duke is still a POS team. They are good. Not great, but most certainly good. Would love to hear your arguments as to why they are not.
I never said Duke had no quality.
But our fan base continues to act like VT is some dominant program that is just in a bad 3 year spell.
Dominant programs don't get outperformed by a program like Duke. Not a slight on Duke at all, more a perspective of our actual program vs. where people feel like we are in the pecking order. We are a mediocre program that is not showing improved results in the only place that matters, the field.
College football is cyclical, that's just how it goes. Even when a good coaching staff is in place, it's cyclical. The run of success we had for 10 years is unheard-of without the resources of the biggest programs. The fact that it took us so long to cycle down is astounding and a credit to Beamer and Foster.
We're down, Duke's going up. At some point, those trajectories intersect.
Seriously, sadly it seems people can't accept that fact. Not just Tech fans, but fans around the country. As long as Cutcliffe as there they will be competitive.
Thank' s Duke ! Needed something to brighten the weekend.
Why are folks freaking out about Duke leading the division? Would you have rather seen the game go the other way, and then UVA be leading?
This was the result we needed, but we still have to win some games or it won't matter
Also, I hope we incorporate the jump-pass into our offense for the right occasion
If we do that with Bucky in the Wild Turkey, he won't even have to jump!
Given Bucky's height, he'll have to duck in order for it to work. Can't have him putting out windows in Slusher Tower.
I have the sneaky suspicion we'll see Bucky execute something similar before the season's over.
Unc just retook the lead with a TD over the chop blockers with 11s remaining!
Our Coastal opponents will all lose more games down the road, so don't give up. What's important is for our Hokies to take care of business.

At first I started laughing gleefully at this. But then I got sad. *sigh* #goacc...
This actually makes my day.
I think we should make humor a new non-revenue sport in the ACC. They're doing so well at it.
Duke lost to miami, miami lost to Louisville, Louisville lost to uva, uva lost to ucla, ucla lost to Utah, utah lost to Washington state, Washington state lost to Rutgers, Rutgers lost to Ohio State.
We beat ohio state.
We're winning the coastal. Do not question me, my logic is flawless.
Thank you my good man.
After writing all this out, I realized I may or may not watch too much college football.
Wait, that's possible?
It's only on from noon to about 2 am....so there's still those morning hours on Saturday (and pregame shows don't really count as "watching football").
So, no, it's not possible.
Actually, there are usually some replays going on in the morning hours before College Gameday starts.
Knowing this division, we'll probably twist that logic back on itself a couple of times.
