Morgantown is burning

Not much of a surprise, but the cousins are celebrating their win over Baylor in classic West Virginia fashion.

They won and/or lost a football game. Of course couches are burning.

I wish.

Some enterprising furniture company should run "buy a new couch" promotions after these disasters.

Live for 32. Ut Prosim. Let's Go, Hokies.

Or take it a step further and package the lighter fluid and matchbook with it.

I like it. A full starter kit for fans.

A secondhand couch store. Packaged with lighter fluid, matchbook, and a full compliment to make S'mores.

Classy.

Easily the worst thing to happen in football Saturday. fuckwvu

Somehow, all those clips & pics just have a 'strife in the Middle East' vibe to them. As in - I'm glad I don't live anywhere near there. A heck of a thing to be known for nationally - Such a stunted fan base that burning couches is their claim to fame. The only thing that would make it more embarrassing is if they had Phyllis from Paul Finebaum's show as a fan.

The fight for the Black Diamond Trophy was always a fun HOME game to go to. Never went to Morgantown out of fear that I wouldn't return.

It's going to be awesome to "rekindle" that "flame" after so long. 2017!

I hate that wvu is a part of WV. Really gives us a bad name

West Virginian by birth, Hokie by choice

The fans are what gives the university a bad name, and they come from all across the state. Not slinging arrows on that, but that would be like pretending that Hokie fans only lived in Blacksburg. WVU is the major state program, and it draws the fans from all over the state. It's not just the Morgantown residents that act like idiots. It's the majority of the fan base.

Does couch burning and rioting happen at Marshall?

🦃 🦃 🦃

I guess if WVU played them at their home field and won, it definitely would.

It sounded like you were saying it's a culture of the state WV. But you're saying its just the fans of WVU, not all residents of WV. Is that what you meant?

🦃 🦃 🦃

No. They are very similar to Tech in their football Fandom.

Only 49% of the students at wvu are from WV. Idiots from all over the country come to wvu because its a party school and because the place has a history of shit like this. Plenty of dipshit students are from PA, NJ, NY and lots from VA too.
You don't hear issues like this from Marshall, the only other large WV school

Edit: looked up the % of in state/out of state

West Virginian by birth, Hokie by choice

Tons of dumb nova bros who couldn't get into NVCC go to WVU.

@historyhokie.bsky.social

First of all, as has been pointed out, out of state students and fans make up a large portion of that fan base. Second of all I can tell you it's probably not the "majority" of the fan base that's like that. Just the very obnoxious and idiotic minority.

I mean if it was something in the water as you seem to be suggesting, I'd be down here setting fires to my couch come this Thursday night, since I'm a proud West Virginian.

VT Class of '12 (MSE), MVBone, Go Hokies!

I think it's the state of West Virginia that gives West Virginia University its bad name.

;)

And this is why I was not upset with the events following the Ohio State win lol.
