Haven't quite come up with a plan on how I will update this in the years to come. Regardless, this will get your mind right for the game tomorrow. Muck Fiami!!!

Always get pumped up for this game, but its kind of interesting to look back and realize that it has been 9 years since this game has really meant anything nationally, when Miami came into Lane in a battle of 2 Top 5 teams. This has mainly been because the Canes absolutely fell apart pretty much right after that game and just haven't been the same since, but man... I miss the days of the high intensity electric atmosphere when a highly ranked Miami team comes in playing a VT squad with a chip on their shoulder.
Am I mistaken in thinking this is the first night game between the two teams since that 2005 matchup?
If you mean "in Blacksburg," that's correct. Most of the games in Miami since then have been night games, though.
Have they?
I seem to remember most being afternoon kickoffs that finished under the lights... Maybe I was just too drunk watching them.
Probably you were, but I don't blame you. Miami is always a high-stress week for me that typically involves lots of drinking. All of the games in Blacksburg have been 3:30, only one in Miami has started that early (2010).
2006 - 8:00 (Miami)
2007 - 3:30 (Burg)
2008 - 7:30 (Miami)
2009 - 3:30 (Burg)
2010 - 3:30 (Miami)
2011 - 3:30 (Burg)
2012 - 7:30 (Miami)
2013 - 7:00 (Miami)
LOL damn, even both of the last 2 years were at 7+....
All around fail on my end
Just say you meant to say "in Blacksburg" all along and you're good to go. Revisionist history.
That 2005 game was my first night game at Lane. I was a freshman and didn't win the lottery, so I paid $100 for a ticket. I was so pumped for that game! I painted a very detailed Jimmy Williams jersey on my roommate. We got separated in Lane trying to sit together. Hands down the most crowded I have ever seen that stadium. I was in East, and people were shoulder to shoulder even along the stairs.
Unfortunately, not the best result.
I was a sophomore. Also didn't win the lottery and had to shell out $100 dollars. I remember riding a friends bike through campus to get to the ATM at the Library.
I agree, never seen the place so packed. Everything leading up to the game was a complete blast!
The atmosphere that day was unreal, an aura unlike any other game. Lane was packed 30 min prior to kickoff and it was magical. And then the game started :(
I'd say in 2009 (i think) it had national implications. They were ranked #9 and we were #11. Still half a decade ago though
We better be in #ALLMAROONEVERYTHING tomorrow night
This is another one I'd love to see a #DecadeofDominance shirt for...tomorrow night and 8 more...what do you say?
The Rivalry is much better when Miami is actually a contender.
Maybe better put - the rivalry is better when the two teams are performing on the same level.
So, right now?
Oh, it's definitely good now. If we're on our way to an 11-2 season & they're headed to 5-7, it doesn't mean much. Vice versa, of course the upset factor is good, but when we're roughly matched, it is better than those two alternatives.
Had a dream last night that ended with Stanford catching the game winning touchdown. GO HOKIES.
