More 'opportunities' to rub shoulders with those hilljacks is not what I would consider good news.

Not worth the downvote - agree sir and leg.

WVU Mountaineers fans are not the most welcoming in the NCAA. I wouldnt want Tech football team to keep going to Morgantown every other year. As long as the games are in FedEx Field, M&T stadium, or Lane stadium, Im fine with playing against West Virginia.

Allen Ox

I won't be going to Morgantown.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

Nobody from an opposing team with any concern for their own safety would attend a football game in Morgantown. Ever.

I've been numerous times and will continue to go. I have never felt unsafe there... Pissed off, yes, unsafe, no.

Beat WVU

I'll go, idgaf.

Not the bagman VT deserves, but the bagman VT needs right now.

Doesn't WVU typically have a good basketball program? It'd be nice for OOC schedule to have a little punch once Buzz's pups becomes upperclassmen.

Now that we have a capable basketball coach, we can stop trying to form complete marshmallow schedules like we've seen the last couple of years. There are lots of options for quality opponents without rewarding the Neanderthal fan base of WVU. It's a shame that they will be rewarded for NOT changing their behavior from completely unacceptable & inexcusable. That's why I wish we'd never play them in any sport, ever. I understand Whit's reasoning, but I disagree with it, and will not attend any of the away games in that, no matter the location. It's bad enough to have all the cretins make their way down Rt. 460 for games at Lane & Cassell.

Yes, this does not make me happy as a fan.

I think most of you guys are missing a crucial political advantage of doing this with West Virginia. Oliver Luck (AD at WVU) is a member of the college football playoff committee. Developing a strong relationship with Luck may pay dividends in the future if we're in contention for the playoffs in the future.

...but I agree with everyone else, I'm not a fan of this. I'd rather have done something similar in nature with Tennessee instead because SEC and they're academically/geographically closer to VT than WVU.

If we keep finishing 7-5 or 8-4, the playoff selection issue will not be a concern.

We put the K in Kwality

Trying to spin this as Whit currying favor with a member of the football playoff committee is humorous, to say the least. It's got nothing to do with that. Nothing. Also, let's not amuse ourselves too much with playoff talk for a while until we get within sight of it.

Logic would say that Whit has a good relationship with Luck & that he sees little downside in doing such. In general, that is true. The difference in this scenario is that we're talking about WVU here, which changes everything.

why does VT have to play politics to get in the playoffs? that should be based on merit and stats. why in the world is whit Babcock not a member of the playoff committee to begin with?

First answer - we won't, when we earn our way onto that level of respect.

Second answer - because Whit's national reputation isn't as glowing as among internet Hokie fans. That doesn't mean he's not great, but let's get real - he's a young AD in his first year in a Power 5 conference. Realistically, that's what he is, no matter how much we love him. Give him a decade, then you might have reason to ask. Not before then.

This is great news.

Beat WVU

Once a decade at a neutral site is more than enough , in any sport.

I think it's a positive. I despise no other rival like WVU. I want to see them lose at everything, and I would like nothing more than for them to fall at the hands or our Hokies. Now I'm not saying I'm trekking up to Motown for a game or anything, but I think regional, traditional rivalries are important. To me, nobody makes my blood boil like the eers, and nothing was more satisfying than seeing the O&M victorious (2004 anyone?)

Got to look it on the bright side. Our landfills will be less full if we load up a bunch of couches and take 'em with us to Morgantown games.

I still get nervous watching this!
