Native American folklore held that the bird was the last to seek shelter before a hurricane, and the first to emerge afterwards. The bird was thus a symbol for danger and optimism.

Where is the Hokie Bird to defend VT's honor? We know he wasn't tired, he didn't have to do any bench presses until the last minute of the 4th quarter *sigh*

WTFork, the Miami Ducks? Gots to get me some of them shoes, man.
Funny...my 4-yr old and I were watching the game. During our entrance, he said "Why is Virginia Tech playing the ducks?"
I'm sorry, but their mascot just looks like an asshole.
I never understood using a duck for the Hurricanes....don't ducks drown in a big storm?
In their defense, it's an ibis, a bird that is the last to take shelter before a hurricane arrives. So it actually makes a lot of sense.
Ibis also reek if you get near them.
The golf course I go to at the beach has them all over their lakes. You can smell them before you see them.
It's an Ibis

The Hokie Bird needs to get back to being a symbol of asskicking and domination...

I saw him trying to do a dance off at some point over near the visitor section.
I was hoping for pass up the bird, since I was sitting right behind the Corps.
I would imagine that as he tried to get through the Miami defense on their sideline he had difficulty.
They put a first down marker in front of him, and he just couldn't get past it.
Just a friendly reminder. This is a real ibis.

I prefer boobies myself
I've seen these in person. :)
I feel like I've motorboated between these before.
I was wondering if the Corp was gonna give Sebastian any Hell. He was gettin' right down there on that end of the field.
