Listening to 910am's "Tech Talk Tuesday," Sean Glennon was a guest and mentioned this website and podcast. Former VT QBs Sean Glennon and Cory Holt Host a Weekly Podcast on Huddle Pass, which is exclusively comprised of former players as the hosts. On TTT, Glennon lamented the lack of leadership on the current roster. Justin Harper will be an upcoming guest on a future podcast, and Cody Grimm has participated too.
Glennon says he still has faith in Loeffler (even wishes he had him as his OC at VT, based on chats with Logan Thomas), in fact his younger brother was hoping to play for him at Michigan early in the recruitment process. He still believes Brewer is the answer.

Interesting, I'll listen later but before that, I hope that the loonies who used to harass him even after he graduated from VT have moved on from that immaturity. Glennon wasn't great in Frank's offensive system, but he wasn't as bad as many blamed him for being.
He just chatted with the hosts for a few minutes, so there were no attacks on him.
I always admired his toughness. He wasn't the most mobile of QBs, and we all know the OLines haven't been much help the past decade.
I know that a few years ago, maybe five years ago - he was interviewed for one of those 'Where are they now' pieces by some newspaper. He was working up in NoVa somewhere as a financial analyst or something like that. It made some of the message boards, and several trolls got his work phone number and began calling and harassing him at work. They also began just scorching him once again on the internet. I just thought that was so awful and unfair. That was what I referenced above. It was not the finest hour for a portion of our fan base. Folks just take stuff too far sometimes.
That's horrible. Those people need to be busier. Thanks for getting in the open what few want to see or believe exists. This helps balance us all.

Teddy Roosevelt was a true badass.
Watched parts of the documentary of the Roosevelts by Ken Burns and the segment on Teddy Roosevelt just made my mouth drop. I had no idea he had actually moved to North Dakota to chase his dream of becoming a real cowboy and he did it. Went from upper NY Society to working cowboy on a ranch with cow dung et al. Didn't want to be treated any different than any of the other cowboys and pulled his weight on the ranch work. Damn fine man. Damn fine president.
TR was definitely larger than life, and defied stereotypes throughout his life. He began life as a frail child of wealth & privilege who became known for being as rugged and masculine as any man could be. He became a GOP politician who was famous for fighting big corporations & promoting environmentalism. He was about as unique as it gets. Truly one of the great icons of American history. Peeling away his many layers reveals an amazing man. If you want to gain even more knowledge about him, I'd suggest reading the trilogy of books on him by Edmund Morris. He does a great job of explaining Theodore Roosevelt.
Dude started the National Park system. That is huge. Imagine if that had not been created. I'd put that up there with starting the highway system...
After reading through these last couple posts, I got sad when I scrolled down and there were no more facts/stories about how Teddy was a badass man. Guess I'll be picking up a book on Teddy tonight.

So true. Glennon needed a competent O-line that could protect for more than 3 seconds against a 4-man front, and receivers that could run good routes. He wasn't the sand-lot specialist O'Cainspring and Newsome required.
I often thought he should have transferred and tried to find success elsewhere, for his own good.
Agree with everything except for the "receives that could run good routes"...he had Eddie Royal, David Clowney, Josh Morgan and Justin Harper to throw to
THIS, all of the WRs he had went on to play in the pros. Royal and Morgan had quite a bit of success early on in their pro careers.
Royal is still having success. I believe Josh Morgan is having a decent year as well.
Those guys have both been in the NFL for...7 years now? Playing 7 years (and counting) in the NFL is a really productive football career.
I think the average max career in the NFL is 6 years. Still playing past that is noteworthy.

According to the NFL Players Association the average career length is about 3.3 years. The NFL claims that the average career is about 6 years (for players who make a club's opening day roster in their rookie season).

I'll bet that's the mean average -- which is skewed considerably by the few players on each team with 10 or more years. I'll bet if you look at rosters, there are a lot more guys with less than 6 years experience than more than 6 yrs experience.
So while the average career is 6 years, the career of the average player is probably more like 3 or 4 years.
EDIT: I just looked at the Raiders roster (the "oldest" team in the NFL). 38 of the 53 players on the current roster have 5 years or less NFL experience...while 7 have more than 10 yrs that skew the avg numbers (including Janikowski at 15 yrs and Charles Woodson at 17 yrs).
The Huddle Pass is fantastic, I subscribed last week and highly recommend it. I think that Sean could have a serious future in broadcasting.

I watched Glennon on TV as sport commentator. He seemed to have found his true calling. Hes a descent commentator .Hopefully he moves on to better network in his career.
Well if there's someone that knows about sticking with a struggling QB in an offense that clearly doesn't work....

Re: the Glennon bashing. I know it was a frustrating time, but I would MUCH rather be in 2006 right now and winning 10 games with Glennon at the helm than our current record of 4-4.
To be fair, that was a complete team. Put Glennon on this team and I bet we're in the same spot (maybe worse with the oline we have now). Those late 2000's teams had national title aspirations, this team has bowl game aspirations.
I think the difference between 2006 and 2014 is much more than the QB.
That 2006 defense alone, made a huge difference. But VT was still playing full-speed Beamerball back then, too.
Crazy that we had one 2 game losing streak in Glennon's 5 years... We've had 6(?) since the start of 2010.
Despite all of the negative feelings toward Glennon, I still always think of that GT game first.
I can't forget Tyrod being booed off the field at Lane and the crowd cheering for Glennon against Duke in 2008.
That was an all around miserable game, from the play on the field, to the fact that it was around 20 degrees in the stands and windy, to the fact that the student body was AWOL because of Fall Break.... yuck.
Still had fun, though... but man, that was a cooooooooold game.
If it was 2008, it could have likely been that the fans were booing the offensive playcalling that led to Tyrod's benching. I don't remember that game, but I'd lay strong odds on Tyrod not being the target of the boos.
Tyrod was the target, if I remember right he had 2 ints and 2 fumbles in the first quarter. That is why they cheered when Glennon went in.
But it was cold that day. I think it is listed among the top 10 for coldest games in Lane.
I went back & looked at the stats for that & the surrounding games. That was in the time frame of the constant swapping of Glennon & Tyrod. The boos might very well have been for Tyrod. Thankfully, I've blacked out most of the memories from that debacle. That was a ten win season that was pretty painful.
Contrary to popular opinion, Tyrod did not play fantastic every game of his career. That game, Tyrod was 2/5 before being benched after throwing 2 INTs and losing 2 fumbles.
EDIT: Late due to fact checking, but regardless, I'm pretty sure the boo-birds were for Tyrod that game.
Everything was set up horribly for that game, and it played out just as badly. I wasn't there because of a conference in Indianapolis (one of the few games I ever missed), but my wife and my sister were at that game. They told me if I had to miss one game, that was it - the weather was abysmal, the game was scheduled for the first Saturday of Thanksgiving break, and the boos were definitely for Tyrod. I think the general feeling was "we lived through Glennon so we could get to Tyrod, and THIS GUY is supposed to save our program?" Two complete passes and two complete to the wrong team had a lot of people frustrated. Of course, things got markedly better, but still, for that night, he was the target of the unhappy fanbase. Maybe he should give Brewer a call...
Oh I was there freezing my ass off in the MVs. There were piles of snow/ice up against the walls inside Lane. Our first TD wasn't until the last minute of the first half. It was absolutely awful and yes, Tyrod disappointed many. Really, Tyrod wasn't a star until his senior year. A combination of talent around him and growth as a QB and a leader made that happen.
Wasn't that the 5 PM ESPNU game that we only won by virtue of Macho's int?
That was the oddest kickoff time for a game I've seen show up on the schedule, especially for the Saturday before Thanksgiving. If you gotta play a home game, either make it an early game against a lower team, or get a big game at night.
I missed the game because I was in small town, NC for a family reunion, and ESPNU was hardly carried on any cable system. And it was before WatchESPN.
