Virginia Tech might have lost 6-30 against Miami on the field, but off it, Hokies did work a couple of Thursdays ago. As a group, we raised $1,190 for the Women's Resource Center of the New River Valley. $870 was in straight cash, $320 came from in-kind donations. That crushed last year's total of $613. Bull & Bones, Sub Station II, The Cellar, PK's Bar & Grill, Star City Family Dentistry and Auburn Hills Golf Club all donated cash or gift cards. (The original plan was to raffle gift cards off, but then we all got caught up eating pork butt and hitting the liquor pinata, so I gave them to the WRC too.) Thank you to all the TKP readers who tailgated, donated and contributed food / drink / dessert! It was awesome meeting you for the first time / seeing you again. A special thanks to slicktrip for holding down the grill again this year.

The TKP Tailgate is 0-2 (Maryland '13, Miami '14). I am setting this in stone now, so plan accordingly, the 2015 TKP Tailgate will be Labor Day weekend when the Hokies host the Buckeyes. Let's hope the tailgate can improve its record to 1-2.

I like lot 18 but then again, I'm there every game.
I like it because it's not all road surface and so easier to stand on for hours.
