Major Props to JCC and Brenden Motley

JCC made the most of his opportunity when Marshawn went down, racking up 95 yards on 20 carries and Motley looked good running the read option, not to mention running over the defender on his first carry.

JCC looked amazing. If he can run like that going forward, we could finish the season halfway strong.

I was astonished Motley got significant reps. Maybe he had threatened to take that job at Macados.

I keed. He deserved it, and it showed. Now if we just have the stones to let him actually toss the rock if we see more of him, we could really keep the D guessing.

That's something I'd love to see from either Motely or the wild turkey. If you don't throw a pass out of it every once in a while, it's just a blatant give-away that you're going to run the ball.

There's always a lighthouse. There's always a man. There's always a city.

No kidding, the more he got in there the more I wanted to see play-action over the top.

JCC owns Duke.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

JC has 936 yards rushing in his career, 306 of them against Duke. Kid just needs to play them every week.

Major props to Motley and JCC, indeed. I was critical of JC for a while, but I always praised his heart and commitment to the team. Today, after waiting his turn and taking a backseat for the good of the program, he took his opportunity and ran with it (pun absolutely intended). Motley, too. Great showing from those guys.

We all needed that win, so BAD. I am very proud of the team and they way they never quit.
Congrags..... So many head scratcher calls the last 5 minutes of the game. I need to just enjoy the win right now and have another bourbon.

SCHokie

Congrags...bourbons all around!

Yep, my wife kept screaming when JCC got the ball........"RUN PIGLET, RUN!!!!!"

Tyrod did it Mikey, Tyrod did it!!

Take my turkey leg and give it to your wife.

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

FOSTERS: Australian for defense

What JCC did really well today was remain patient behind the offensive line that.......wait for it......gave him rushing lanes. Props to the oline on their performance in the run game today.

We did TWO things today that we haven't done well in a while:

1. Provide room to run the ball
2. Play shut down D when it mattered the most.

This is VT football, gents. I think this team is waiting to explode in the coming years. We've made good coaching hires. The recruiting in general has progressed. I am satisfied to wait for this seed to take root. Hopefully the CFP expands to 8 in the next couple years because if it does, we have a shot.

"How you doin', Randy?"

He was also hitting the hole with much more aggression than he normally has in the past. Super happy for the kid.

Yea good win overall. But if Duke made either of those field goals we would not be happy at all.

-Being aggressive, being tough...that's the Virginia Tech way.

......like how they beat us last year?

They were due to lose a close game and we were due to win one.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

Heck yea, a W in the column feels awesome.

One thing I think the team proved today was is that that locker room isn't falling apart and the seniors definitely care about making a bowl. That was a gutsy win, kudos to the players, staff, and fans that made the trip!

Totally agree. I posted this same locker room remark on another thread (the locker room dancing). It's been a rough year with injuries and one score losses, but these kids and coaches still care and looked as if a dump truck had been lifted off of their shoulders. I think the struggles are making this a close-knit team.

Motley looked like an LT clone running out there. Would love to see him drop back and throw. See what he's got. We've all killed JCC last couple of season, and rightfully so, but he ran tough today. Good road win. #Hokies

The defense brought the heat when needed at the very end of the game. They were pretty close to field goal range in the last series before the grounding penalty and sacks.

Honestly this game wasn't very different from many of our wins in the last 5 years. We've had a few stinkers every year, but the major difference is we used to nearly ALWAYS find ways to win the close games. I think it was a mentality and confidence that willed us to win the tight games. In the last 3 years, that mentality has seemingly wavered slightly (with the exception of playing UVA).

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

So is Juice done for the year? We really do need Trey to come back for the last two games now, despite JCC having a great game today.

The guys from Rivals make it sound like he'll be out for the year.

And here's Andy Bitter's mention:

We have to face that neither Shai nor Juice may be full speed next fall.......

Yep, at least we'll have Travon McMillian and DJ Reid coming off redshirts, not to mention Deshawn Mclease coming in. Trey Edmunds should be 100% by then, too, so we're going to have options.

yes, very well done by both motley and jc.

jc looked different today than he ever has. he ran with a lot of confidence and looked ridiculously fast.

motley looked like a monster out there. that guy is big and looks like a load to take down. would have loved to have seen him throw.

i hope marshawn takes the year to get back healthy and return next year ready to bowl over some fools.

Real happy with JC's play and excited for him. He really looked like a different back today. Looked for an opening and hit it like a madman. He was moving at hyperspeed, if he had just broke one more tackle on one of those runs he would have blown past everybody. Very impressive, how sweet would it be for him to keep that up the rest of the year.

And sorry to hear about Marshawn. I havent always thought he was the best man for the job this early in his career. But, I hate to see him get hurt and screw up his development. I hate it for him and Shai both. I think we all hope they can both bounce back.

To anyone who thinks thank Frank Beamer has lost the locker room, a Senior Linebacker that doesn't trust his coach doesn't hear a fake punt call on 4th and 19 and shout the assignments unless he trusts the ever living daylights out of his coach. Further, the whole unit executed the fake to near perfection. No one questioned the coach's call.

The irony is that they should have.

Interesting and good point!
