ACC Wheel of Destiny: Week 12

It looks like the wheel has stopped spinning. It's probably more accurate to call it a coin flip now.

FSU has clinched the Atlantic. They are 7-0 in conference play, and the next closest team is Clemson at 6-2.

The Coastal is down to two teams: Duke (4-2) will clinch if they win out. If they lose a game, then GT (6-2) will clinch the division. Duke has the head-to-head over GT, and their remaining games are UNC and WF.

So, either GT wins with best record, or Duke ties GT with best record, but has the head-to-head.

Every other team has either 3 or 4 conference losses.

More importantly, no need for the list of ACC tiebreakers, or 17 possible scenarios heading into the final weeks.

Aww, I was hoping for a 4-4 tie for everyone in the Coastal.

I'd love to see GT vs. FSU. Either Johnson would be routed or Jimbo/Jameis would have confused looks on their face the entire game.

Yeah, Duke and GT are similar on D. GT's O might give FSU nightmares on D. Duke's O plays in to FSU's strength on D. GT's got my support to win the division (well, not to mention that one of my sons is a GT grad, so it kind of does by default, unless VT's in the running).

Don't give up on your dreams.

UNLESS: GT somehow gets itself ineligible for the postseason in the next two weeks. Throw in Duke losing to UNC and Wake, UNC beating NCSU, Pitt beating syracuse and Miami and, of course, LOLuva losing out. Everyone except GT and LOLuva would be 4-4 in conference. Mwahahahahaha

Anyone have some money laying around to offer a GT player?

This is going to be great for the ACC.

Georgia Tech is gonna get stomped on by FSU if they have to play them. Teams that score in a hurry are the ones that are a threat to FSU, and needless to say, GT does not score quickly. I actually think Duke could give FSU a run for their money. However, I think it would be kinda interesting to see how FSU plans to disturb GT's running attack. With that being said, I'd be pretty shocked if Duke lose to NC or WF.

Lots of teams have scored a lot quickly on FSU this year. None of those teams have been able to hold on.

On a side note, the SEC wheel of doom is right on track. Auburn has fallen on their face, but are still getting the SEC knob job in the rankings. However if Auburn beats Bama and Ole Miss can beat Miss St, then all the SEC trams would have at least two losses. The icing on the cake would be whoever limps out of the SEC East winning the champ game. Nothing would be sweeter than no SEC in first playoff!

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

Onward and upward

Well, Duke couldn't keep it interesting, so we're back to the Techmo winner taking the Coastal.

FSU vs GT on Dec 6.

First, I'm still pulling for GT to be disqualified for the championship game and the ensuing coastal 4-4 chaos.

Second, does this make anyone else feel just sick to think that GT gets a shoo in because we couldn't take care of business against them? I mean, I guess duke is probably feeling the same way about missing that field goal against us but, man, I just want that GT game back. Actually I want every game we lost by a touchdown or less back...

Yes...even allowing the one bad loss to Miami, we'd be close to clinching the Coastal and still highly ranked right now.

If we had won all of the 1 possession games, 9-1 and controlling the coastal and ranked in top 10. That and a $1.15 will get me a dollar tea at McD's.

Top 10?

No way... if being in the ACC is enough to keep FSU from being a lock to the playoffs, it would be enough to keep us out of the Top 10, especially if we're winning a bunch of close games.

FSU has had to come back from multiple scores in multiple games. Outside of ECU and Miami, all of our close games generally stayed close. FSU is barely winning games with a roster loaded with 5* talent and the reigning Heisman winner, and we would have done it with mostly true freshmen.

All wishful thinking, but I don't think it's the ACC that's a drag on FSU, it's the fact that they should have out-classed just about everyone, but they're barely doing it.

"Exit light..."

Agreed. If Tech had one all of those 1 score games and had the win over OSU (big win now) if not top 10 close. But alas, there is always next season for 9-1, unless the basketball team gets there this season.

Not me. Maybe VT hasn't been restored yet, but at least sanity has. The ACCCG should always feature the winner of VT - GT versus the winner of FSU - Clemson.
