Haven't heard since the basketball season started? Anybody know if there are still plans for Isaiah Ford to join the team? I would assume it is slightly more complicated now that he is a #1 receiver as opposed to a redshirt freshman or player further down the depth chart.
Secondary question which I have always wondered, How do scholarship #s work in a situation like his? Would the basketball team get a free player that wouldn't count against a scholarship since he is on scholarship for football?

Beamer and Buzz have already given the OK for Isaiah to join the basketball team whenever the football season ends.
He is on scholarship for football and is a walk-on for basketball.
He would be considered a walk-on for the basketball team and wouldn't start playing until after football season is over. You might see him play in some of the winter break non-conference games depending on the bowl schedule.
Cool. I was wondering if end of the season would mean end of bowl season or end of regular season. That would make a big difference.
Anybody have any indication whether he is considered a real piece of the team or is it just a courtesy between Buzz & Beamer. I know he was an above average player coming out of high school and we have seen how athletic he is.
Maybe it was just because it was UMES, but it seems like Buzz is all for playing everyone to get them experience and find his best 5 and his first man off the bench, so I don't see why Ford wouldn't get his shot to prove himself.
I would be under the impression that he'd simply be a bench/role player, but the fact that the guy averaged like 30 ppg in high school tells me its not entirely a complimentary thing to Frank. I think because he's coming in after this team has already had an off season and several games under their belt by the time he comes in hurts him for serious playing time.
Awesome pic BWade. Marshawn Predator!
Thanks. I whipped that up the first time I heard someone make the reference. Too perfect
