The canes are killing themselves this game. But perhaps it sets up our showdown with UVA next week. IF......we can win that game it will be pretty nice to keep both the bowl streak our streak against UVA going while at the same time ruining their hopes of a bowl game.

Any idea why this game doesn't show up on the ACC scoreboard on ESPN? Also, Miami and UVA schedule pages don't even list a game for today. All of this is as of 10:26 PM.

Yes, that's what's actually true, but as of what ESPN had on their site last night (1) the UVA-Miami game didn't exist and (2) in the rankings, UVA was listed as "x - Virginia," so ESPN was saying they were eliminated. Just a joke about their glitch.

Yeah I have a bad feeling they're going to beat the hell out of us next week. They have 10 years of frustration to take out and we are so utterly terrible I don't think we know how to play with the intensity we'll need to compete. They just beat the hell out of a team that beat the shit out of us...
I'm starting to wonder if losing (potentially big) to a UVa squad at home at night with the Cup and a bowl game on the line for both teams after this kind of year would be the last straw of the Beamer era. I really think the loser next week gets dismissed after the season.

Obviously that was a different team, but Beamer has a special hate for UVA. If the team doesnt show up I think you are correct. As for UVA, I dont think they can London regardless. Theyve improved enough that I think he gets another year.
Personally, I think its time to see what Motley can do. If he stinks then you can always put Brewer back in, but at think point his running threat is greatly needed.

Last time they were playing us for something meaningful we had a QB that ended up in the NFL. If Motley doesn't play the bulk of the game, we get blown out. I have that little faith in what Brewer brings to the table right now. That INT yesterday was completely unforgivable. That was such a careless decision in the first play from scrimmage when we got the ball at midfield it showed he hasn't learned a damn thing this year. If he legitimately is the best option we have on the roster, we are due for some extremely dark years ahead.

Frank is absolutely not gone after this season. Absolutely zero chance of that happening. We could lose 63-0 and Whit would give him a year to correct the problem, but more importantly, retire on a (hopefully) less painful note.
And that is fine. This is where we are, the result of so many people saying for so many years that Frank should be able to coach as long as he wants and no one should ever impact that. That insular mindset that so permeates the program and fan base.
We're at the end of Frank's era. Next year, or the year after, and that will be it. Then the program will move on with a new coach and new direction. Like every other program in the history of college sports. Change occurs, no matter how much some fear it. Sometimes it is painful, often much less painful than the fearful predict.

I think if we get smacked by UVa, its time to rip the bandaid off and start fresh with someone else going forward. There's more damage to be done by going about the 'last tour' kind of event with Beamer next year with all the speculation on who the replacement will be. Even more importantly, recruiting will be near impossible, because you can't ask a clear lame duck staff to legitimately recruit a top class when all the recruits know they will never play for the guys trying to recruit them.
I'd almost say win or lose, we should likely go a new direction this offseason, that's how bad of a loss this Wake game was. If we win, use it as the high note of his retirement. If we lose, use it as the reasoning it was realized he needed to retire for the good of the program.

I didn't say that there would be a public acknowledgement that Frank was doing a retirement tour. I'm saying that when Whit decides it is time for Frank to retire, Whit tells Frank in their meeting that it is time to go, and that he has earned the final season to quietly put a finish on his career. One last preseason, one last opening game, etc. Not publicly, but privately. Either that, or if Frank prefers, just let Frank announce his retirement - 'To spend more time with my family'.
You can be sure that whenever the time comes, Whit will ensure that it is not made public that Frank was forced to leave. The only person that would ever announce that would be Frank if he is bitter about it. Whit is graceful, and respectful. He will do his best to make sure Frank retires as gracefully as possible with what's left of his time. Whenever that time ends.

I'm right there with you...I can't find the score or game, listed anywhere on ESPN! Sheesh...first, ACC commentators, then, listening to our coaches yabble-dabble excuses, and now, ESPN trying to pretend like our conference doesn't exist. I should just go to bed, hit the reset button tomorrow.
