Many thanks to Wang for giving up his body for VT for the past SIX years. I definitely appreciate his dedication and effort (and admittedly I had questioned his play at times).
Now that I've stated that, it kinda looks like he's going to yuke in the commonwealth cup. Oddly enough, I imagine that's the same look I had on my face last Saturday. Really happy this team was able to stick together and rally for the win tonight. After all the struggles this season, I can truly say I'll remember this victory as fondly as the victory over OSU.

This season was not what we wanted it to be, but I'd say tonight was. Our defense was stout. Our offense came together when it had to. We beat the Zima drinkers.
Michael Brewer is one tough son of a bitch. "I'll keep getting up if you keep pushing forward." I feel like I need to engrave that on something.
JC Coleman continues to impress with the chance he has been given.
Isaiah Ford set yet another freshman record (receiving yards) and will be a stud.
Bucky Hodges is Bucky Hodges.
Sam Rogers punched some Hoos in the face.
Dadi and Ekannibal are going to haunt Greyson Lambert's nightmares (aside: I do hope he's OK, that last hit was nasty).
Props to Kyshoen Jarrett and Chase Williams, playing at home for the last time and coming up big in spots.
CJ Reavis, welcome to BeamerBall.
I could go on. I love everything, if just for this moment.

Speaking of seniors, how about Bonner? He stepped up making big tackles in the running game. Him chasing down Mizzell was a game saving play. I thought "Smoke" was supposed to be really fast. I didn't know Bonner could jump to plaid.

She is a typical UVA grad. She only cares if they win. When they lose she just shrugs and says "I told you they suck". Oh and this year the win was a bonus cause my father in law was trash talking me the whole time. Double fingers to him...

I'm the sole Hokie, with lots of hoos on both sides of my family. But even more Keydets (but most of them pull for VT now, unless they did grad school at LOLuva). I hear ya.

You could look at it as the opposite....the only place they have to go after 11 years is up......well I guess they could get lower at 15....or 20 years.

Pregnant wife just told me to come to bed...I instead went to the fridge to retrieve a celebratory beer that I drank so fast I need to get another...Fill it up again! Fill it up again! Once it hits your lips, it's so good!

Brewer is the toughest quarterback we've ever had. I'll question the guy's game, but I have so much respect for him. I feel like there had to be some UVA defensive players saying "How the hell is this guy still getting up?!"
A lot of things wrong with this team, but beating UVA hides a lot of problems for at least a week. We can get into what changes need to be made later, just enjoy the win now. I'm halfway around the world at 8 am running around screaming (I think my neighbors hate me).

I mentioned this a while back....Brewer's nickname should be "Timex"...he takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin' ...I think tonight (along with the Ohio State game) cements it!
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
One of the best games Ive watched in a long time...That Ohio State game was a good one too but this was just a ton of fun to watch. I am so proud of how they played. It looked really grim after the Knowles fumble, but they just kept fighting. As frustrating as Brewer has been all season he really is the toughest qb I have ever seen and I respect the hell out of him.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I think a lot of us fans have talked smack about Brewer this year, but I feel after tonight this is how Timecop and LOLUVA will remember him...."I saw you beat that man, like I never saw no man get beat before and the MAN KEPT COMING AFTER YOU!"
The worst part about winning 10 in a row is you have to lose eventually...but not tonight! One more year holding my head high in Charlottesville. Here's to 11

This season had its rough spots and its glory days, but Beamer is right when he said this team deserved this game and upcoming bowl game. I was at the Ohio State game and it was one of the hypest games I've ever attended, but I really forgot how great beating UVa feels. Win or loss, Hokie Nation is there to support the toughest freaking team in the nation. Cowherd was right. Tech might not play pretty and not be the most glamorous team out there, but my gosh those guys in the locker are some tough, real dudes. Love it

Only because I don't know where else to put it. Not sure whether its more embarrassing, or more hilarious with the juxtaposition. I do love the stare of death from the girl, though.

i thought it was pretty funny. if you're a college student anywhere, one of the reasons you wake up every morning is to try and flip double birds on ESPN.

This was great team win. D made plays when they had to, O made plays when they had to. Brewer and Coleman especially showed a ton of heart tonight by continuing to get up and make plays after seemingly coming up hobbled just about every time they took hits, which was frequently.
Also, it was really classy on Dadi's part to help Lambert up and pat him on the back after blasting him. Hokies Respect y'all.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
You have to know better than to smack/swing at an opposing player's head like that. Yeah, it was bush league by the UVA player, but the ref is going to see that motion and throw the flag every single time.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I've hated on this staff and some players time and time again but damn. Those guys played their hearts out. Brewer looked decent at best, but his grit and determination is what separates good from great (or bad from okay). We saw a hungry defense tonight that managed to pull together at just the right time. Some guys had their best games of the season, like Detrick Bonner coming in off the bench to break up a fight. No but seriously...
JC Coleman looks substantially better than he did in Week 1 this season, or any week before the injuries at tailback. If he gets a bit better with his balance he can be a solid option in the ground game. We have some serious play makers at wide receiver. Ford, Philips, and Hodges are the real deal. If we can get some protection upfront that would maybe possibly perhaps hopefully lead to some decent QB play... ooo.
With that being said, I still don't believe we have the right staff (and I mean from Head Coach down - even whoever is in charge of keeping players healthy... Gentry?) for the future. I might be wrong. I kinda hope I'm wrong. Who knows. I don't give a shit tonight, or tomorrow night. I prolly won't till we fart on ourselves in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Go Hokies.

Like you said, just enjoy the win. We can talk about changes after the bowl game. That was classic Hokie football and something to be proud of. This feels like the end of an inspiring movie more than reality.

Wish I coulda been in Lane / Blacksburg for this one...what a game! Loved watching our D tonight. And Brewer and the O made plays when it mattered. Honestly this game coulda gone either way...I'm glad our Hokies came out on top. A lot to address before next season...but for now...we should enjoy this one. GO HOKIES...11 straight!

I got so drunk I was almost arrested thrice then I jeopardized my marriage and my best friendship with various acts of assininity (yeah I said it). I apparently entered the stadium but don't remember leaving the tailgate.
But it's okay...we beat UVA.

Even when our team is terrible we still beat the Hoos! Loved the effort out of JCC and toughness by Brewer. The ejection of Newsome was horrible, but it didn't end up hurting us.

I was at the game and it was probably the most fun Tech game I've ever been too (and I was at the Nebraska game in '09.) When they played Enter Sandman before the final play every Hokie in the stadium started jumping, young and old. During the last drive, Willie Byrn never stopped trying to pump up the fans on the west side. And just one last thing, I could the see the players clearly from where I was sitting and I literally thought Sam Rogers was going to turn into the Hulk on the sideline. You can tell that, even though he grew up a UVA fan, he is 110% Hokie now and doesn't like UVA one bit.
Games like these are why I am Hokie. Never a dull moment screaming my butt off with roughly 66,000 of my best friends.

I recall Rogers being part of those scuffles, so definitely no doubt there. Still love his reason for choosing VT over UVA, "I want to win championships"

433 yards of offense and I don't think they ran a single bubble screen (if they did, they ran one early in the game). Maybe Loeffler is capable of learning after all.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I remember 2 in a row, to Bucky on 3rd and short where he had to fight to get the first and then to the opposite side on the next play that earned us a 2nd and 10 or 11. I think A) Brewer just doesn't get the ball out fast enough on screens, B) the receiver should be moving towards Brewer instead of away, and C) WE SHOULD NEVER RUN THEM ON SUCCESSIVE PLAYS!

That Baby Wang looks beat.
That baby Wang got dirty in the LOLUVA trenches tonight. Definitely shows.
Many thanks to Wang for giving up his body for VT for the past SIX years. I definitely appreciate his dedication and effort (and admittedly I had questioned his play at times).

^This.
My Precious
BEST SEASON EVER!!!! Im so happy right now and proud of those guys...Michael Brewer is the toughest son of a b**** alive.
FTFY
Worst 3 seasons in recent memory?
Still beat uva each year
LOLUVA
Go Hokies
Bittersweet victory, but I'll take it. The bowl streak continues.
This season was not what we wanted it to be, but I'd say tonight was. Our defense was stout. Our offense came together when it had to. We beat the Zima drinkers.

CJ Reavis, welcome to BeamerBall.
I could go on. I love everything, if just for this moment.
Ditto all the above, except you forgot CJ's right hook along with welcoming him to BeamerBall.
correction, it was Reavis who punched a Hoo in the face...
I think he was just showing the Hoo how he blocked that punt
Speaking of seniors, how about Bonner? He stepped up making big tackles in the running game. Him chasing down Mizzell was a game saving play. I thought "Smoke" was supposed to be really fast. I didn't know Bonner could jump to plaid.
I'm married to a wahoo so this is the one must win per year! Thank you Hokies for delivering!
So is tonight good for you, bad for you, or both?
He may not get victory whoopie, but he doesn't have to GIVE victory whoopie, either.

She is a typical UVA grad. She only cares if they win. When they lose she just shrugs and says "I told you they suck". Oh and this year the win was a bonus cause my father in law was trash talking me the whole time. Double fingers to him...
I'll get banned for this one, but go in there and bang her brains out. Leave the gun in the closet - for this year anyway.
Pound her like we pounded their QBs tonight.
I think that depends on whether or not he is denied pussy touchdowns!
You must be a physics major, one who knows how to make difficult concepts easy to understand for the rest of us. Keep up your fine work.
No I'm in marketing, so he's really got to know how to sell it!
I went the route of making her feel the dissapointment her team felt. Double victory for me!
The best option by far.
So you got her worked up and ready to go, and then promptly went to bed?
Well played
Then Mike London called timeout
I don't want to sign in with facebook to creat this, but a Mike London Timeout needs to be added to the urban dictionary.
Mike London Timeout, (n), An inappropriate pause performed at an inopportune moment during any sequence of events. Ex: "things were getting hot and heavy when she pulled a Mike London Timeout and got up to check her phone."

oh just f*** her
I'm the sole Hokie, with lots of hoos on both sides of my family. But even more Keydets (but most of them pull for VT now, unless they did grad school at LOLuva). I hear ya.
God I'm so excited for GIFTORY
This team could have given up on the season after the Miami game, but we never did. When the going gets tough, the tough get going.
#BALLSOFSTEEL
I'M INTO BEATING UVA, I AIN'T INTO MAKING LOVE
I am glad to see the positives on here.
I glanced at thesabre, just to keep tabs.
Implosion over there boys, women and children are running. Sheep are hiding...
Oh snap, I almost forgot about that place.
Time for me to make some popcorn and head on over. Just lurkin...
We disagree on many things, but in this I will join you.
Cheers.
Shouldn't they be used to this feeling by now? After 11 years how much more can there be to melt down about?
You could look at it as the opposite....the only place they have to go after 11 years is up......well I guess they could get lower at 15....or 20 years.
Generation of Dominance
I think theyhad shot this year. I'm sure many of us thought so too.
Denied!
Pregnant wife just told me to come to bed...I instead went to the fridge to retrieve a celebratory beer that I drank so fast I need to get another...Fill it up again! Fill it up again! Once it hits your lips, it's so good!
How old is she in this gif? I'm not sure if I'm ok with my initial reaction #imcreepy
If Sam Rogers and Emma Watson have a child

BLAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH11111

THAT WA THE GREATEST VICTORY EVAR
omg please post more

Should be called "G-Shock" then. Built tough.
I think his nickname should be Rocky. He reminded me exactly of this clip.
I prefer this rocky scene
That was probably my 2nd favorite Rocky. Anything about beating the Commies is great
Reposting from last season's bowl entry but seems applicable

That was a great game, especially because we won.
More like an ugly movie with a good ending.
The extra practice time we'll get will be valuable.
The lack of extra time they'll get should mean we should be able to pull back ahead in the rivalry.
Come on, Northrup Grumman Military Bowl! I might actually go to it if it is in the DC area
I wonder if Josh Sweat had a good time tonight.
Holy crap, I forgot he was even there!!! Yeahhhhh, I gotta think he enjoyed himself
The whole recruit section was jumping with the rest of Lane in the fourth quarter
I think a lot of us fans have talked smack about Brewer this year, but I feel after tonight this is how Timecop and LOLUVA will remember him...."I saw you beat that man, like I never saw no man get beat before and the MAN KEPT COMING AFTER YOU!"
Rocky
We. Kept. The. God. Damn. Cup.
It is my birthday, literally.
Happy Gobblin' Birthday!

My birthday was yesterday (Monday) 3 days after another Commonwealth Cup victory. Always the best bday present.

I'm currently scouting Virginia Tech for Tennessee's 2016 opener.
They don't have a prayer.
UT fans are delusional there program hasnt been relevent since the late 90s
...man I wish I could drink some beer out of that cup.
All is forgiven.
do they have a post game presser? If so can I watch it?
Our pressers can be found on Hokiesports.com.
The worst part about winning 10 in a row is you have to lose eventually...but not tonight! One more year holding my head high in Charlottesville. Here's to 11
Hoo says we have to lose? We lost to wake this year and STILL beat UVA. To infinity and beyond!
Here's to the Commonwealth Cup counter reaching 4000 days, this time next year
HOW ABOUT JC BREAKING 100YDS RUSHING AGAINST A GOOD UVA DEFENSE?!

Dude is a monster. If he keeps it up, he'll definitely be in the mix next year. Love how hard he's run since getting his big break.
JC is da man!
Not going to lie, I couldn't stand JC prior to these last few games. But he's stepped up in a big way, maybe he's ready.
Right there with you. Went from a nobody to Commonwealth Cup MVP
0 to 100 real quick
WE DID IT!!! We wonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn! Buy that man Brewer a beer.....he deserves it!
Brewer has his faults, but the man has brass balls
Alec Baldwin would be proud.
On the way to the lockerroom
AMEN!

i thought it was pretty funny. if you're a college student anywhere, one of the reasons you wake up every morning is to try and flip double birds on ESPN.
Wow! That was so much fun! Seriously, what a game to be on national TV for. When they played Sandman at teh 4th down, it was electric in there.
I have a feeling we'll be seeing that Dadi hit a few times in a future Billdozer video
Lambert should go talk to the TE that held onto Dadi's leg. That got him fired up and well Lambert destroyed!
Yeah that was bush league. Guy was trying to blow out his knee. Not sure how/why Dadi received the flag for that one
You have to know better than to smack/swing at an opposing player's head like that. Yeah, it was bush league by the UVA player, but the ref is going to see that motion and throw the flag every single time.
Maybe I remember it differently, but I think he was just tapping on his helmet.
No, it was a definite "Get the F@$% off me" swing. I'm not saying that he was wrong, mind you.
thesabre is in full melt down mode and they are stuck with Timecop for another year!!!
Bless their heart!!! hahahahaahahaha!
I've hated on this staff and some players time and time again but damn. Those guys played their hearts out. It is my 40th birthday today. Brewer, you're one tough dude. Hats off to you.
YOU'RE A MAN!!!

Dumbest movie ever but god damn the happy dance needs to happen right meow
their recruiting classes that have never beaten us on the gridiron are really racking up, too.
I got so drunk I was almost arrested thrice then I jeopardized my marriage and my best friendship with various acts of assininity (yeah I said it). I apparently entered the stadium but don't remember leaving the tailgate.
But it's okay...we beat UVA.
If your marriage almost ends because of the way you tailgate.... you, my friend, clearly know how to party.
Even when our team is terrible we still beat the Hoos! Loved the effort out of JCC and toughness by Brewer. The ejection of Newsome was horrible, but it didn't end up hurting us.
11 straight!
Greyson Lambert stepped off of the bus in Charlottesville this morning at 3:30am and was sacked by Ken Ekenam.
I was at the game and it was probably the most fun Tech game I've ever been too (and I was at the Nebraska game in '09.) Anyone else notice how they tried to get us back for last year's triple-reverse pass with a botched attempt of their own?
Please make this a t-shirt! I will buy 11!

No.
More celebrations in order. Caleb Farris isn't the only one getting married:
Congrats to Kyshoen and his lucky lady.
It was supposed to be last night, but then Caleb proposed to his girlfriend. Instead he set up a table in the middle of the field today with roses and champagne and his whole family was there too.
Smoooooooooth
