Lots of famous names on the list. Thoughts? Anyone snubbed? Anyone out of order?

I know we're #DBU and everything but I thought Jimmy Williams probably has the biggest argument of making the squad.
Is it telling that Duane Brown isn't on the list? There seems to be a fair amount of recent players over the old guard (which given our success over the past decade and a half isn't surprising), so I'm kind of surprised to see Lenny Smith over Kam. I always liked Kibble as a player but am not shocked he's not there...post-VT reasons and all.
I voted for Kibble. I wanted to see him on there. He was a scrapper.
Only punter I ever heard of to get multiple Personal Foul penalties for Unnecessary Roughness.
Frank used to give him a hard time but in fairness to Kibble, his reputation led opponents to pick at him and start stuff because they knew Jimmy would finish it and ultimately draw a penalty.
Edit: I wish Youtube had a clip of him putting that UVA player through the bench. The only thing I've found is later in the same game where a UVA player starts picking at him, Kibble pushes back, and Frank reams Kibble out for the penalty.
So I guess Kibble was the originator of #PUNTERSWAG.
No Druck?
If there's only room for 2 QBs, it's hard to argue those 2.
Bryan Randall is a pretty close third IMO
I think there there's one poster who's upset that the other Vick didn't make it.
I guess I'd put MV7 and Druck with T-Mobe as a close 3rd.
Think Don Strock should've made the list with MV7. Big fan of the other guys, but Strock still holds the records.
Strock holds some single-season records, but for career stats, TT is better in nearly every category
As stated above, the only one that immediately came to mind was Duane Brown. One could also make the case that Bam Bam Kam deserved some love as well, even though I don't think anyone could predict how much success he's had at the next level.
I love Kam and what he's doing in the pros, but my biggest memory is him getting handled by GT.
Mine is him dominating the Orange Bowl.
Duane Brown would be under TE right?
I keed, I keed. But seriously...
I feel like I would have Wilford over Danny Coale. Also no Vinnie Burns? Snub city.
I thought the same thing, Wilford was snubbed.
I would say Coale made just as many if not more big plays than Wilford. (Catch against Nebraska, several ACC champ TD's, long TD against GT at crucial time) More career yardage as well. Wilford also had some negative plays, like the dropped two pt conversion against Miami. He also had a pass hit him in the chest in our last loss to UVa that was picked off. He was still a good player and our only real receiving threat at that time.
Plus he was the only receiver to be smacked upside the head by Frank.
Jimmy Kibble, Keion Carpenter, Pierson Prioleau, Bryan Still, Vincent Fuller, Jayron Hoseley.
Seriously, AJ Hughes? Was this all write in votes and nobody remembered any other punters? Kid is not even impressive this year let alone All-Lane. Brent Bowden deserves a spot over him.
I thought the same thing, though I didn't even take the time to think of any better punters than him. But yeah, you're right Bowden and his luscious golden locks was a freak
I think Hughes got some extra votes for his fine work at RB and LB.
But someone mentioned Vinnie Burns earlier too. Looking at entire careers, I would take Burns and Bowden over Schmitt and Hughes.
Don't forget his excellent passer rating.
Well, he was arguably the MVP last night.
Frank went mega conservative.
Ah, I don't think so, we know sly is pretty good up to 40 yd.
Beyond that he's got length but really inaccurate.
With the way the defense was playing, it was almost like attacking. Remember I'm a rugby player and so see this differently.
It payed off once when we punted to the 1 and attacked with the defense. We scored a TD on that with 2 special teams plays and a good D.
Frank was trying to attack with special teams and especially punting.
It worked.
I am for Jimmy Kibble all the way over AJ Hughes, and it's not even close. That and Duane Brown were the main omissions that I saw.
Kam got snubbed. Jimmy Williams over Macho. Duane Brown, to me, is the best o-lineman to ever play at Tech. Ernest Wilford and Brian Still were pretty dang good too, could've made the list just as easy as some of the others....
agree jimmy over macho.
I'd agree with that. I know Macho was beloved, but he wasn't even the best corner on the team until Brandon Flowers was drafted. Carpenter is another guy that definitely warrants discussion.
Worilds is probably on that next tier, with N Adibi, Chris Ellis, etc.
Bryan Still should be on that list.
Lots of guys should have gotten some mention on defense. James Anderson was a better whip than Cody Grimm. Jamal Smith and George Del Ricco were outstanding. Those are my three to go with Hall and Adibi. Would like to see a defensive tackle (JC Price, Jonathan Lewis, David Pugh, Derrick Hopkins, and Luther Maddy all in the discussion) to go with the DE's (Bruce is the only DT on the list.)
Vinnie Burns should probably be the punter. Not sure that I buy Montgomery on OL, especially over Brown or Render. The top 4 (Grove, Pyne, Contay, and Chung) are no brainers.
I'd replace David Wilson/Ryan Williams with Dwayne Thomas. Thomas was really good for a long time. Wilson and Williams were better talents, but both only really had one real spectacular year.
Jarrett Ferguson needs the fullback slot.
Sam Rogers needs the fullback slot
Still a little upset Jason Worilds wasn't even in the voting. AJ Hughes also is a little confusing that is until you look at the record book.
How about Chris Kinzer at PK. Dude holds ss record most FG and is fith all time in scoring. And to top it all was the last great toeballer to ever win a bowl game ' 86 Peach Bowl (not to mention some of the finest single digit salute work ever done)
Two words for you....Shane Graham.
This whole list is bullshit. ONLY ONE FULLER?!
Momma Fuller should be on there.
Is this our depth chart against tOSU next season?
I think Ashley Lee should have made the list. He was a tackling machine.
Agree. And we had some great LB's back then. I don't know how Mike Johnson didn't make this list. I think that I would also put Jesse Penn and Vince Daniels in there. This list should have a fullback spot for Tony Paige too.
I don't get it with a lot of the offensive choices because I have been brainwashed around here that three yards and a cloud of dust type players are what rule the Hokie mind. Al Kincaid anyone??? (sarcasm mode off)
We should do our own TKP All-Lane team.. with blackjack and hookers. And Kibble and Druckenmiller.
Five years from now, I guarantee that Isaiah Ford & Bucky Hodges will be on that list. Otherwise I don't see anyone else being a lock to make it from the current team. Maddy & Fuller, maybe, but it's hard to replace the names in front of them.
The RBs were spot on. While we've had good RBs over the years, there is a diffeence in good & great. The four listed were great. Put them in your own particular order, but they were the elite.
Don Strock & Druckenmiller were both great QBs for their times and their offenses. When you look at the bulk of VT's football success, though, you have to admit that we are a running QB program. There is, of course, Michael Vick & then there is everyone else. I think Tyrod is the 2nd best QB based on his career totals, length of impact, & all the other QB factors. I'd put Strock & Druck at distant 3rd/4th in either order. Then you get into some other guys that all had impact, but FAR less than those four above. Randall, Thomas, guys from Beamer's early era, guys from the 60's. None of them are close. That doesn't insult them, it merely acknowledges that Michael is the best we'll ever have on offense (like Bruce Smith on defense) and that Tyrod is clearly the best of the rest.
Holy mother of Fullers.... What a team! I'd take them into battle any day of the week! Whoever we play should just stay in the locker room to avoid massive injuries. Wow.
