NFL.com college sports writer Bryan Fischer Mentions Pep Hamilton as Potential Beamer Successor

Fischer is a well-respected reporter, but I don't know if this is pure speculation on his part, or a name to watch in the future. Hamilton turned down the opportunity to be Tech's offensive coordinator in 2012. For what it's worth, unless he unexpectedly retires, I believe Frank will be back next season.

That is strange speculation...My heart wants to see Bud take over eventually

Nice name to pull out of your rear.

Pep Hamilton would be awesome created an excellent offensive line and running game for Andrew Luck while at Stanford

And is doing great things with Luck in Indiana.

"I thought the kid right there you're talking to right there played his nuts off."

Unless Pep's career goals are to be Andrew Luck's coach for life, I see him heading out of Indianapolis in the within the next season or two for greener pastures.

We have some damn beautiful green pastures in southwest Virginia, unfortunately I think he is lined up for an NFL head gig, even without previous HC experience.

Pep would be a home run hire, but Bud deserves a shot. And my heart.

Has anyone thought of Bruce Arians?

I don't see the HC of NFL AZ coming down to NCAA.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

Yep, especially with the success Arians is having in Arizona. Even Alabama had to pick Saban up from the yard sale of failed NFL coaches.

Personally, I think it's great for VT to have an NFL HC to claim as its own. Arians staying in the Pros is good for VT Football.

I get the thought of him being a hokie also, but there honestly is no way he would step down from one of the more successful teams HC job in the NFL to come to a 6-6 VT team right now and get paid less money to do it.. I'm as big a VT fan as anyone but that just doesn't seem very possible to me

Just imagine having Bruce Arians as your HC (with that offensive expertise) and Bud Foster still at DC. We would probably be as good or better than Alabama. Sounds hyperbolic, but I love what Arians does on offense.

I am the heartbeat of Blacksburg. A fortress built out of stone but made with champions.

I like Pep Hamilton and his work with Stanford and the Colts (as a Colts fan, I'd really hate to see him leave Indy), but I don't think he would do a tremendous job here. He requires a really strong QB for his offense to work. Also his schemes at Indianapolis have been pretty inconsistent even though he has had to change things because of injuries and the lack of production from Trent Richardson.

I like the thought of Pep, but I don't want Bud to get pissed and leave if he's not the new HC (I know, broken record...)
