As is tradition, the Virginia Tech seniors and football players took the Commonwealth Cup downtown to celebrate the Hokies' victory over rival Virginia. Michael Shroyer hopped around Main Street and followed the Cup around.
The Commonwealth Cup took a selfie.
It chugged a pitcher of beer.
It didn't care much about PDA.
It raged.
It watched the Iron Bowl.
It had a pretty good evening.

THIS is why the Cup never ends up at LOLUVA. Anyone ever try to find the "downtown" in Charlottesville? Or a bar scene? Much like their architecture program, I've heard their students talk about having one, but it's actually an art degree. Wait...
To be fair the Corner is a nice bar scene, but I'm glad it stays passed around in Blacksburg bars.
The Commonwealth Cup once and for all disproves Hokiesports.com's assertion that David Wang is 6'2! It's powers have no equal.
Gosh I'm gonna miss David Wang. Next year will be our first Wang-less roster since 2006?

I have a theory that Weaver did away with the "Stick it in" dance because someone came up with a version for when Wang was out.

I was at Hokie House Friday afternoon, first time I've been there in close to 20 years. Big Al's, too.

It was AWESOME, as a recent Alum I came back for the game and I walked out of the hokie house bathroom and it was right there, someone passed it to me and it was the best chug of my life

One of the best memories I have at Tech was my senior year, we all went downtown after the UVa game. One of the very, very few times I ended up at Big Al's during my time as a student, and wouldn't ya know it, that ended up being the main hangout for the football seniors, Cup in tow. Drinkin out of the Cup was pretty awesome. Oh, did I mention that at one point we turned around and there was Bruce Smith just randomly hanging out with our group like it was no big thing?
Yeah, pretty awesome night.
Just seeing that picture of those seven guys celebrating represents what it means to keep the Cup in Blacksburg! Such a look of joy on those young men's faces. I hope future recruits see this and really see the comradrie and what means to be a Hokie.
Again, man I really wish I could drink beer outta that thing.

That may very possibly be my hand pouring that pitcher into the cup. I bought an entire pitcher of PBR at The Rivermill just so I could take a sip out of the Commonwealth Cup.
I try not to over use this one, but I can't think of a better time for my favorite celebration gif!
