Fuller was a no-brainer, because, Fuller

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
β€œI served in the United States Navy"

Bucky would have moved to the top in my mind, but I haven't watched much ACC play outside of Tech games. I just know he's a beast when the ball is in his hands and if it's thrown anywhere near him, he'll make sure it's in his hands... Something about that number 7 in a VT jersey, makes magic happen.

Like how Marcus Davis pulled a disappearing act any time he was asked to block?

Davis probably loved it when we wore the camo uniforms. He could just stand still and not have to block, and nobody would notice.

Haha, man my memory is shot, I've killed too many brain cells in the past few seasons...

And in a feat unexplainable by modern science, Sean Glennon managed to make his first throw of two consecutive seasons a completion to an ECU player

For the most part, I think Andy hits the nail on the head. Here are the changes I would make:

1) Justin Thomas would be my number 2 quarterback behind Winston.

2) I would flip Scott and Smelter at WR

3) Wyatt Teller would be my number 3 guard, and if you asked ACC opponents, he may be hire than Mason or Tomlinson on the "who do you not want to play against" list.

4) Goldman is good, but Marshall made the most impact plays of any defensive tackle on that list. To me, he is first team.

5) Kevin Johnson would be ahead of Kendall Fuller, who really struggled during the meat of the ACC schedule. Down the stretch, I would even argue that Chuck Clark was better in coverage than Fuller, although Fuller usually got the toughest assignments. Corner across the ACC isn't a great position.

6) Safety- I am shocked that Ray Vinopal from Pitt isn't on the list. I watched him against ACC opposition against VT, UVA, and Duke and he was outstanding in every game. But there were many more great safeties than corners in the ACC this year (Jarrett, Clark if you call him a safety, and the leading tackler from Wake would all get a look from me.)

I also felt that we heard a shockingly small amount about Fuller as the season wore on, but I figured it was because the opposing team just didn't throw to him anymore. Do you think that had something to do with it? Because I don't really recall him getting burned too many times throughout the year.

He gotten beaten on inside leverage routes several times against UVA, Wake, and Duke. He was beaten cleanly on a slant by a BC Hback that he had in man coverage for a touchdown. And, he was beaten cleanly for a big gain against GT that kicked off their game tying drive. That doesn't even take into consideration the big touchdown by Tyler Boyd, because I think Jarrett was supposed to have inside leverage and he was late getting there.

Again, I am not killing Fuller here. I just didn't think he was the best corner I saw after the UNC game. He was still very good, but teams, starting with UNC, went after him a bunch.

I think Fuller experienced what a lot of former Hokie DBs experienced. He had a breakout year his first season as a starter and then followed it up with a poor season. It's happened to a lot of our guys, and they inevitably return to form in their third season starting. I imagine things will click for Fuller next season. And we might see Clarke struggle, following the formula. It doesn't have to make sense, but it seems to be a recurring theme. Perhaps being the focus of attention from opposing OC's is the reason, who knows...

It almost always coincides with being moved to the boundary (I hope this is the correct term) side. Kyle Fuller played it last year when Kendall had great numbers, Kendall moves over and Clark seems to have a good year. The boundary has to cover the top WR and play much more conservative man coverage and cannot make plays on the ball. Everyone on the opposite corner seems to have better stats because one guy is taking away so much field in the boundary role.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

Agree completely on #2. GT was picked to be 4th or 5th. Thomas has had that O working better than anyone GT QB since Nesbitt.

Don't give up on your dreams.

No Kysheon Jarrett or AJ Hughes?

Frankly, I thought Hughes was wildly inconsistent and I felt he had a disappointing season.

I agree...there were far too many bad punts.

Unfortunately, no way Bucky ends up 2nd team over O'Leary. He's Jack Nicklaus' grandson! He will likely be first team over Walford just on name recognition. He's a good player too.

Overall, it was a great season for Bucky but he was also pretty inconsistent. A lot of great plays but he has a lot of improving to do in route running and consistency. Just think of how much better he can become.

Corey Marshall has been underrated all year. He single handedly shut down UVA's rushing attack, which played to our strength. He blew up more double teams than most 300 lb DT's. Nobody will recognize that, he may not even get 2nd team, but he was our best defender in 2014.

A guy who didn't get any love from anybody was Deon Clarke. I thought as a whole, he was probably our second-best defensive player this year behind Dadi. Are the LBs in the ACC just really good or am I just wrong on this one?
