Anybody heard anything on how the recruits felt about their visits? Namely one Josh Sweat? The electric environment Friday night had to help our cause..
General consensus seems to be he is playing it quiet. Right now anything is probably guess work. Should announce in a week or two. Just gotta hope he picks the good guys, and if not wish him well.

sometime this week or next. I had heard December 5th tossed around in the recent past, but apparently the exact date/time of his announcement is still TBA.

I heard some scuttlebutt about some da u QB commit who was at the game and is now a VT lean? Heard it from a friend who is an ardent cane homer and he was not happy but I am not sure how substantial it was as I have not heard it anywhere else. Dwayne Lawson is his name.

We visited him in-home this week. He is re-thinking due to Kaaya getting ACC ROY this week, and having to wait probably 2 years before getting a chance to play there.

The up and downvotes on this site used to be referred to as turkey legs. In other words, you currently have 49 next to your username. If I upvote you (I'm gonna), you'll then have 50. It says 50 next to your name now, but in an older format, this site would have said 50 turkey legs.

247 "experts" make Crystal Ball predictions on where they think recruits will go.
They are notable not so much for their accuracy as their ability to change suddenly the day before decision day as word slips out on who the recruit has decided on, thus creating the image that they are at all reliable.

Nathaniel Adibia- good
Jason Worilds-awesome
Jonathan Lewis- very good
Steven Friday- vomit
Chris Ellis-excellent as an upper classman, should have contributed sooner
Corey Marshall- I hear no complaints
Nick Acree- injuries
Zach McCray- I'd love to have a better understanding of what went screwy there.
Nigel Williams- Has a ton of promise
Ricky Walker-Has a ton of promise
Vince Mihota- ?
Did I miss anyone?

Crystal ball.... Yes it is as cheesy as it sounds but us hapless Hokies watch them in eagerness 24/7 in hopes that they bring about good fortunes for our collective future.... In experience they bring about the "apocolypse" of the program.. every commit to some where other than VT

Yeah and that same CB has him 60% leaning so UCF so.....
But on the lighter side I do remember seeing a very tall guy walking campus with lefty who looked A LOT like Lawson

I don't see how a recruit could walk away from that game and not be impressed. The team was 5-6, it was cold, a holiday weekend with many students at home, we hadn't played well at home and we were playing our rival who came in with a world of momentum.
BUT the fans showed up in mass, it was LOUD, the team reached down deep, it was LOUD, nobody on the field ever gave up, Brewer and Coleman just kept going no matter how bad they hurt, the defense was NASTY, it was LOUD. And it was on ESPN, in prime time. That's what you get when you come to Tech. ESPN loves us because we bring the noise even for a down year.
To me this was a pride game. Pride for the Seniors not to EVER lose to uVA. Pride for the offense to have a good game after Wake. Pride for Coleman to come back from the dead. Pride for the fans to brave the cold and the night to show the team that we are still here, that we still believe, and that NO stadium in the country is as LOUD as Lane!
Like I said, I really don't see how a recruit could not be impressed. I especially like that this is Sweat's last visit, that this game will be his final impression before making a decision.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I'm sure that any recruits that were there were impressed. It definitely can't hurt! However, it just depends on what the kids prioritize regarding a decision. Some may put an emphasis on environment, others on early playing time, others on track record putting guys in the NFL, etc.... Trying to figure out what 17-18 year old kids are thinking is an exercise in futility.

Visited Indiana recently. The consensus is that he doesn't have a VT offer yet (he deleted the tweet saying that he had one) but he could be offered eventually.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
And now that your are following it your stuck in it. And the pain some 17-18 yr old kid causes you is ridiculous. Wish I never started. It was nice back in the day when I'd just read about some freshman who is supposed to be good or a rs-freshman who was going to change the program or just see them on the field and say oh he's pretty good I like that. Those were the good old days.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
The thought of him in an offense like Philadelphia, Denver, Green Bay, New England, or New Orleans is just mouth watering. He would be an absolute nightmare to NFL defenses in one of those high paced offenses that emphasize the passing game. Put a guy like Bucky on a team already loaded with weapons and he could be the missing piece that turns a good team into a dynastic one.

I'm not even going to attempt to make an argument here. The Redskins are terrible and will be terrible unless something drastic happens...and this was a clever response. Leg
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I disagree. Yes, he has done a LOT of questionable things with the team..but his heart has always been in the right place. He wants the team to succeed and he's willing to spend every last dollar to make that happen. I think he's finally realized that he needs to stay out of the day to day/personnel stuff and just let the coaches run the team, as seen by the RG3 benching and (God willing) trade.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I'm sure somebody will take a flier on him. It will in no way make up for the kings ransom they gave up for him, but at this point, i'd take what we could get.
Edit: sorry..just saw the below posts. Wasn't talking about the name, but this is OT...much apologies.

I'm a Rams fan....they could use RGIII.
How ironic would it be if the Skins traded him to the Rams.
The Rams got three 1st round picks for him....I say the Rams offer one 3rd rounder for him and call it a day.
It will never happen. Snyder has too much ego to admit defeat and trade him to the Rams.

Please, everyone, abandon the Redskins name topic. We had a huge, divisive, and ugly thread about it a few months back. No need to go through that again.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Didn't mean to start the controversy here, but I'll take the fall for it for bringing it up in the first place. Was simply trying to bring hope to an otherwise dark situation which just so happens to be my favorite professional football team. And Bucky to the Redskins wouldn't really make much sense anyways, as there are much greater concerns than the TE position on that team. But anyways, Bucky is really good. Bottom line
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I don't know if anyone else caught it or not, but during the broadcast of the Pitt game, one of the commentators was dropping Jimmy Graham comps on Bucky, even going so far as saying he's the first offensive player taken off the board in a few years.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Yea I think we see him as a DE/DT hybrid. Think Corey Marshall ,only taller, that should be called "Defensive Weapon." I think Corey will make a good 4-3 end in the NFL, but in our system he can be used as an inside disruptor. His film combined with his strength and hustle make it so he will get his NFL opporunities. his height may make some shy away but with aggressive D looking for guys that are pass rush specialist coming at a premium, some of our guys are going to be changing the notion that "bud can't get you to the NFL like we can...." Fullwood I can see being an NFL-sized Marshall.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Yeah, I think the entire starting line next year will probably have a cup of coffee in the NFL. Ekanem is probably the best prospect of the bunch and one of the better DL prospects that we've had in a while. Hopefully that will change the perception that VT guys don't make it to the league or at least don't stick.

I sorta don't know how to feel right now seeing as that tweet was from earlier today, its making me feel a lot more nervous about Sweat now like maybe the Hokies are preparing a back-up plan? I sure hope not :(

There is a such thing as stocking up on talent. I know, I know, we're not accustomed to that at all, and we are really only used to addressing immediate needs with the bare minimum, but our coaches are trying a new strategy this year. Nationally, we call it the 300 strategy. Why, do you ask? Well, because its based off this motif:

There was some concern earlier about Mook flipping to Clemson after he got that offer (namely, 2 guys on 247 CB'd him to the Tigers about a week ago). However, 247 reported today that Clemson is "no longer recruiting him" claiming they "don't have a spot since he's and early enrollee" or something to that effect. Right, Clemson. Whatever you say.

For people like me who don't know enough about the kids the staff is recruiting to A) know where the long term needs are B) what kids are actually interested in Tech, I just wait till signing day and hope some of the more informed people can at least say we are doing well or not in the recruiting field.

Yea I mean there's maybe some validity to the things he posts and he does seem to have some actual connections. But to me all he does is catch wind of something, puts it on blast on twitter, then if it's right he says i told you so and if not, then oh well, whatever.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
if he actually tweeted in proper english and didn't come across so arrogant I have a feeling many people would take him more serious. However when he blasted his ex or whatever he did there was just airing dirty laundry out for random people to see.
distasteful and not someone I want associated with VT.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I don't think he's definitively de-committed, but he's definitely looking around and keeping his options open. The 5284 guy also said Mook was gone when there were the Ole Miss rumors and again after he got offered by Clemson. We all know how that turned out, so take what you hear from him with a sizeable grain of salt.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
No offense to cds7c, but I think nothing from that Hokie5284 should be posted on here. He's very unreliable. He's such a bad fan that he's almost a troll. If you're following him on twitter, then you're just feeding his bullshit. Do yourself a favor and unfollow

My apologies. It wasn't to you directly. Dozier may very well decommit, but that guy is so negative that I can't believe anything he says. Also, props to you not having a twitter.

did you see all the injuries we had this year?? That's a bad way to look at things IMO. Look at FSU Nnandi and BAMA Hand both of them are somewhat burried on the depth chart but that didn't stop them from committing. Competition with 2 highly touted players at 1 position will be awesome/great for the Defense and Offense

good correction here totally over looked that, thanks for that, but folks what I was saying wasn't from a VT fan perspective, sure I would absolutely love to have him the more the merrier, see what I did there?? 247 just posted a bolt saying Loeffler will be down in FL next Wed to check out 2015 Donavan Hale .
247 has him listed as a non-ranked WR, but in the bolt they mention him as a QB. Decent offer list. He is also a two sport athlete and looks like he plays AAU bball for Florida Elite.
Great football and basketball player from the state of Florida...........hmm, I feel like I've heard this story before.
Edit: His timeline says he was offered by FSU, but that is a basketball offer.

This is horribly off topic but does anyone have a picture update of the indoor facility?

I can't help it, I work for the company building it and I check the webcam everyday. Also asa Construction nerd, it is really fantastic how it's coming together.

I see the offense pretty much the same way I see the indoor practice facility: Give it a year or so and it's gonna be pretty impressive, but right now it's under construction and doesn't accomplish a whole lot.

I mean, if Loeffler could consistently call instructions to the crane operators, it'd probably be done by now. But Shane is also rotating the operators too frequently. And Frank just keeps telling everyone that they shouldn't be using equipment; the Egyptians built the pyramids using a much simpler technique.

You're kinda SOL on that front. Salem is the closest that I can think of. Thunder valley. Not a real big market for go karts in and around the 'burg. Most of the locals have 4 wheelers and fields...or at least trails..lol.

I've never been a fan of the way the location for the indoor practice field was selected but it's where it is now for better or worse. at least the company doing the construction work knows their shit.

Being that we are posting oddly off topic comments in this thread already, I thought this would be the perfect place to put this. I ran into Stacy Searles at Five Guys before Thanksgiving break and my friend asked me about his playing days. That is when I found out Searles was an all-american lineman blocking for BO JACKSON.
THE MAN BLOCKED FOR BO JACKSON.
I'll go ahead and reply to my own post because we are all thinking the same thing here:

To be fair, if I had blocked for Bo Jackson, I would have been an All-American too. Or he would have split my spine into a 100 pieces running over me while I ineptly tried to block.

I do have some information on Sweat, despite the other ramblings on this thread lol.
I have a *source* who helps with the recruiting process and I have been asking about Sweat all year. Basically, no one can read him. He doesn't show much emotion and turned down the opportunity to be shown the night/social life of VT. He went to his room instead.
I do know, for a fact, that both times Sweat was scheduled to come here Beamer rolled out the red carpet. They knew all of his favorites (I.e. coke cans with his name on it) and had them waiting for him in his room.
I also know that if he mom makes the decision, it is VT 100%. No doubt that her favorite is VT.

I have another inside scoop from #Sources: We couldn't have gotten those Coke cans without the help of our very own PeteBuddyWilson! He was a lifesaver, dropping a "buy a 12-pack get one half off" coupon on the athletic department.

Quite positive is an accurate way to describe the events of that phone call, which we cannot (or won't, either one) disclose because of the paywall. And we're super awesome/make poor financial decisions.

It's not just likely it's done deal , more than likely not even getting a bowl game. As for O linemen, they have at least 3 maybe 5 2/3 star O linemen, as for how they would fit in the VT system, how good they really are etc that's way above my knowledge. However picking up any of those kids can't hurt when it comes to getting a foot in doors in the Deep South.

Any news regarding Ricky Deberry? I noticed he's obviously not a VT front runner or anything but just wondered if anyone knew the realistic shot of landing him? We could use a big time line backer to help fill out this class
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
He's headed out of state, with about 98% certainty. A guy you should keep in mind though is Victor Alexander. If he was about 3 inches taller, he'd be a 5-star. He's currently committed to UCLA, but the distance (he's from Florida) and his ties to VT (went to the same school as I. Ford) have kept the Hokies in it. He's said that if it isn't UCLA, it's gonna be VT - all depends on how he feels he fits in out in SoCal. As a NorCal native, my feeling is that SoCal is a hellhole and can go die alone, so VT should feel pretty good here. But what do I know?
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Lets go for the trifecta...I Ford already here, V Alexander and Tolliver might flip our way. Add Sweat and Settle and I will be all set for Christmas. Bring it home Beamer Claus.

In a round about way...I left Blacksburg for Jacksonville, then Washington state, then San diego, then Jacksonville again, and then back to San Diego..lol. I was in the Navy. I met my wife here in San Diego and she is still stationed out here. When I got out of the Navy I moved back out here to San Diego. Unfortunately we still have a few more years until retirement so we're stuck out here till then.

I live in San Diego. Hate it. just not my style. although the bass fishing here is World Class... But other than that..you can have it. Too many people for me.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
too many people? wow, that's the first I've ever heard that complaint about San Diego. It's the most uncrowded city I've ever lived in. I'd hate what you would think of LA, SF, or any east coast city.
70-80 degrees year round.
Easy access to 10+ Beaches (not crowded either).
Hiking and natural sight seeing everywhere.
Golf.
Light Traffic (sure rush hour is bad on the 5, but that's it)
Beautiful houses with amazing views everywhere.
Fish Tacos and Mexican Food.
Great Breweries.
Temecula Wine tasting 45 mins away.
Donkey show 25 minutes away.
There are definitely things I dislike about San Diego, but I've grown to appreciate the benefits and the benefits definitely outweigh the losses (no Autumn, no trees, no snow, slow service).

Yea, there is entirely too many people here. I'm from just outside of BBurg...Roanoke has too many people for me...But yea..I avoid LA like the plague..hate it up there
70-80 degrees year round. I'll take snow any day (Hunting)
Easy access to 10+ Beaches (not crowded either). Hate the beach...and yes..WAY too crowded..Claytor Lake please. Hiking and natural sight seeing everywhere. I'll take the Blue Ridge's any day
Golf. I honestly have zero arguments here...the golf is great.
Light Traffic (sure rush hour is bad on the 5, but that's it) um.....what?
Beautiful houses with amazing views everywhere. Cannot disagree here...our view is pretty good (We live in Tierrasanta)...but ENTIRELY too expensive...and too many houses... Fish Tacos and Mexican Food. Negative on the fish tacos but DAMN do I love me a California burrito!!
Great Breweries. Bud light....that is all..lol
Temecula Wine tasting 45 mins away. Not a wine fan, but we do own a house up there (Murrieta)
Donkey show 25 minutes away. I've been to Thailand..so...yea...lol...

Fair enough. As one that grew up in NoVA, San Diego is like a dream when it comes to population density, traffic, etc. So, I guess it's all perspective. It took me a few years to get over the parts of San Diego I didn't like. Once I got over that, I realized San Diego has way too many perks for me to be disappointed.
Nice to meet someone living in T-town. I actually live just north of you in Rancho Penasquitos. Do you go to Bub's for the VT games? If so, we've probably met.

Yes it is a matter of perspective, and I am usually in the minority with my thinking..
I love Bubs! they have fantastic tater tots! lol. When I first found that place I couldn't believe they had a Hokie bar all the way out here. My wife is on deployment and we have a 15 month old so I didn't get to go to any of the games there this year.

I love the Tots and breakfast at Bub's. I know everyone on the east coast complains of nooners, but having Bub's breakfast scramble and Guinness at 9am on Saturday with VT football on the TV is just divine. Unfortunately, I haven't been to Bub's much this year either (2 games only) as I am in law school at USC. But, I will probably try to make it to Bub's for the bowl game, depends on schedule. If you make it to the bowl game, I'll see you there.

That gives VT six Rivals 4*'s (McClease, Allenye, Clark, Reynolds, Edmunds, and Fullwood). 2014's class had eight, although only seven should count because Holland Fisher should only count in his senior year of HS class (I would include a prep school kid if they didn't commit their senior year, like Josh Nijman, or changed their commitment during their year of prep).
So we are in range of our best top end class ever.

Wow it seems like only a couple of months ago he was favoring VT, Clemson, Penn St., and Tennessee. It's good to see that VT is the only one that remained in his top 4.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
No. We are basically down to Sweat and Settle as highly ranked and still on the board. Nijman is a 4* on 247, but recently said he's cooled on us because we want him as an OL. DeBerry looks to be going out of state. Bryce Love and Lawrence Cager are well regarded but we are in longshot position.
Gaines and Williamson are probably our best bets and they are are 3* kids.
Maybe we can flip Tolliver and/or Alexander, but a.) I wouldn't hold your breath, and b.) only Tolliver is highly ranked.
I expect we will add one or two or three lower ranked WR or OL commits that we haven't even heard of yet. In particular, we need a big bodied WR and it's worth taking a risk on one.

I'm okay with two or three lower ranked guys we haven't heard of coming into the picture late, if only because of the pre-signing day Luther Maddy (2*)/Dadi Nicolas (3*) combo.

Last I read, he was missing some practice time with an injury, then returned but only to limited practice in a blue jersey. Best case scenario is that he got a lot of mental reps this year and will be able to step in and fill the safety spot next year.

They are notable not so much for their accuracy as their ability to change suddenly the day before decision day as word slips out on who the recruit has decided on, thus creating the image that they are at all reliable.
Geez, no wonder I never followed recruiting back in the day.
See any Tech D-Line target with more than 4-stars in the last 10 years., et al.
Nathaniel Adibia- good
Jason Worilds-awesome
Jonathan Lewis- very good
Steven Friday- vomit
Chris Ellis-excellent as an upper classman, should have contributed sooner
Corey Marshall- I hear no complaints
Nick Acree- injuries
Zach McCray- I'd love to have a better understanding of what went screwy there.
Nigel Williams- Has a ton of promise
Ricky Walker-Has a ton of promise
Vince Mihota- ?
Did I miss anyone?
Wyatt Teller?
(duck..,.....)
He said MORE THAN 4 stars...
FWIW, you missed Ken Ekanem.
Tru-dat. I'm still butthurt about dalton, nnadi, hand to mention a few. Dang recency bias.
The way true freshman Kaaya looks, I would be looking around, too.
NCAA gives me easy to read reasons, wish real life worked that way. Recruiting is just too many ups and downs
Or "how well they pay em'"
Any update on Swag Kelly?
4FSS
Visited Indiana recently. The consensus is that he doesn't have a VT offer yet (he deleted the tweet saying that he had one) but he could be offered eventually.
Josh Sweat twitter looks like a damn UGA advertisement.... Frickin Leg-Humpers, big ups to the Yellow Jackets!
that's a fake twitter account. sweat doesn't have one.
1 is clearly fake (J_Smoothsweat), the other is too? (joshsweat9)
Yep. Disgusting isn't it?
What a joke. Following recruiting is painful.
Those were the good old days.
yea, both fake. good to know
All of them are fake. He isn't on Twitter at all.
Is it sad that a recruits lack of twitter makes me like him even more?
No!!!!!!!
Took today off from work, got to watch VT game again on Comcast sports. I know I'm biased but Bucky Hodges looks like a future NFL TE.
No doubt, great hands, and a great ability to make a defender miss.
And he's only been a TE since February... Imagine next year.
Bucky definetely has NFL talent. He's got the size and speed execs are looking for as that position evolves in the pro game.
If he continues to develop I think the sky is the limit for him. He has only been a TE for less than a year?
The thought of him in an offense like Philadelphia, Denver, Green Bay, New England, or New Orleans is just mouth watering. He would be an absolute nightmare to NFL defenses in one of those high paced offenses that emphasize the passing game. Put a guy like Bucky on a team already loaded with weapons and he could be the missing piece that turns a good team into a dynastic one.
Or the home team Redskins! Seriously, when is Jordan Reed NOT hurt?
He could probably play some QB there too, now that I mention it. It's been a rough year
I want him succeed in the NFL....
I see what you did there
I'm not even going to attempt to make an argument here. The Redskins are terrible and will be terrible unless something drastic happens...and this was a clever response. Leg
The only thing that will stop the Redskins from being terrible is if Dan Snyder leaves. Only good he is doing is refusing to change the name.
The same could be said of Ted Turner, pre-1990. The Braves didn't have success until Ted was told to keep his ass out of baseball operations, by MLB.
You think somebody will actually want him now?
I'm sure somebody will take a flier on him. It will in no way make up for the kings ransom they gave up for him, but at this point, i'd take what we could get.
Edit: sorry..just saw the below posts. Wasn't talking about the name, but this is OT...much apologies.
I mean, the Rams DO need a quarterback...
Oh how ironic would that be...lol
I'm a Rams fan....they could use RGIII.
How ironic would it be if the Skins traded him to the Rams.
The Rams got three 1st round picks for him....I say the Rams offer one 3rd rounder for him and call it a day.
It will never happen. Snyder has too much ego to admit defeat and trade him to the Rams.
Edit: Been a Redskins fan my whole life, but Snyder makes it so hard to stay one.
edit
Please, everyone, abandon the Redskins name topic. We had a huge, divisive, and ugly thread about it a few months back. No need to go through that again.
Let's not open that can of worms here. That's a subject for another board.
Bottom line
You're right on all accounts, but I don't think you started anything. That was on another commenter and then me for responding.
I just hope the Redskins get watchable again.
I don't know if anyone else caught it or not, but during the broadcast of the Pitt game, one of the commentators was dropping Jimmy Graham comps on Bucky, even going so far as saying he's the first offensive player taken off the board in a few years.
probably the best point pretty boy palmer made all year.
Here's a picture with my Marine friend, Patrick Price. The recruits all had a blast at the game and the atmosphere definitely helped
Here is a leg for you, welcome to TKP!
Looks Sweaty.
Cripes! Even his dreads look strong! Are those real? Made of rope?
Okay I may be biased but is ridiculous that Rivals dropped Sweat from 5th to 31st nationally.
This must mean he's going to commit to us.
On a serious note, it's not all that surprising since he didn't finish playing his senior year due to a knee injury.
Yeah, in fairness to Rivals they did say that if he were healthy and played all year he would still be top 5.
Hill, Gaines, Sweat and Dozier would be a pretty good DE haul to restock the cupboard. Maybe we turn Taylor from Tennessee as well?
Don't forget Fullwood is a commit
Yeah, I think the entire starting line next year will probably have a cup of coffee in the NFL. Ekanem is probably the best prospect of the bunch and one of the better DL prospects that we've had in a while. Hopefully that will change the perception that VT guys don't make it to the league or at least don't stick.
Jason Worilds
Yeah, Worilds was the last one. I think Ekanem will be as good of a prospect as he was.
True dat
gotta love that name. looking forward to him dropping the load on LOLUVA's next qb.
Haha, that chicken instead of a turkey.
Can we PLEASE petition twitter for a turkey icon??

Feedback seemed to have been very positive.
On a side note, I think practically the entire Gilman High School (Baltimore, Keihn's HS) was there, or at least that's what it seems like.
I sorta don't know how to feel right now seeing as that tweet was from earlier today, its making me feel a lot more nervous about Sweat now like maybe the Hokies are preparing a back-up plan? I sure hope not :(
The one about Gaines? We've been recruiting him for a long time; that's nothing new.
DE is a major position of need. We're paper-thin there this year. One injury there would have put us in serious trouble.
Hey, look, something that didn't go wrong this season!
although dadi takes his grand ol' time getting up from nearly every tackle he makes. haha
Playing with a broken finger with do that to you.
Somehow is missed that. That will slow you down
There is a such thing as stocking up on talent.
As I have said before...people that think Mook isn't solid are not reading TKP
#TEAMMOOK
Mook "El Gato" Reynolds
"Oh wait, you don't want to come here?!?! Then we're pulling your offer!!! Take that!!!"
So that's where kennyhokie went...
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fired??....I'm not fired!!....I quit!
I'm sorry. I had to.

I've spent an embarrassing amount of time looking back up at my post and back down to this one, and for the life of me, I can't figure out what I'm missing. Besides the joke.
Don't feel bad, I'm lost too.
what you are watching above is the infamous BOBBBYYY SCCHHMURDAA SHMONEY movement.. and anytime someone says "About a week ago" everyone has to hit the limp body shake..
EDIT: Bucky hit the dance after his TD vs OSU
OOOOOOOHHHHHHH.... I get it now!
.... About a week ago.
Guess I'm to old. Or just out of touch with the youngsters.
That's a dance?
Edit: Bucky did it better
I don't know. I thought they danced like me, a white guy.
FWIW I a.) didn't know what it was at the time Bucky did it & b.) still wouldn't know if I didn't teach and coach high schoolers.
Lyrics are NSFW
Just in case anyone wanted the link to the song. Song been on youtube about 4 months, over 40 million views.
No Bobby Shmurda probably doesn't have the lyrical depth to be around for very long, but this was easily the hottest song of the summer (if not the year).
For people like me who don't know enough about the kids the staff is recruiting to A) know where the long term needs are B) what kids are actually interested in Tech, I just wait till signing day and hope some of the more informed people can at least say we are doing well or not in the recruiting field.
I saw on twitter that Bud and Torrian had an in-home visit with Tim Settle.
In a way, recruiting-wise, not going to the ACC title game this year could up being a bit of a blessing in disguise
Unless a coach happens to be sitting in a kids living room while the game's on... That could be awkward..
well guys, i think we've found the reason why mike london is able to lure in 5 star recruits.
Groh tried to spin missing a bowl into a positive thing one year. That guy is missed.
Did they photoshop a 15 year old's face on a 27 year old's body?
This hasn't happened yet? Bud somehow traveled to the future? Is there anything the man can't do?
But according to Twitter hacks, Bud doesn't recruit anybody...
I believe Settle is supposed to make his decision in next couple of weeks. Tim, come on down!
Sounds like Dozier decommitted. He visited Marshall last weekend.
Where are you seeing that?
It's from Hokie5284, so I will believe it when I see it confirmed by a more reliable source.
that dude is just a bunch of face palms..
Yea I mean there's maybe some validity to the things he posts and he does seem to have some actual connections. But to me all he does is catch wind of something, puts it on blast on twitter, then if it's right he says i told you so and if not, then oh well, whatever.
if he actually tweeted in proper english and didn't come across so arrogant I have a feeling many people would take him more serious. However when he blasted his ex or whatever he did there was just airing dirty laundry out for random people to see.
distasteful and not someone I want associated with VT.
Very true. He's just childish and cynical.
Yeah, seems like whenever a recruit is looking around 5284 assumes he is definitely gone.
No offense to cds7c, but I think nothing from that Hokie5284 should be posted on here. He's very unreliable. He's such a bad fan that he's almost a troll. If you're following him on twitter, then you're just feeding his bullshit. Do yourself a favor and unfollow
Thank you for saying exactly what I was about to post. Can we PLEASE stop posting whatever verbal diarrhea that donk spews on Twitter?
I had no idea this came from that guy. But other boards are discussing it and dozier was at Marshall this weekend. Seemed like a valid enough topic.
Like josh Sweat, I'm not on twitter.
My apologies. It wasn't to you directly. Dozier may very well decommit, but that guy is so negative that I can't believe anything he says. Also, props to you not having a twitter.
Yeah, that guys is a Richard. But that doesn't mean he is void of info.
that's because Dozier knows once Sweat signs and Ekenam being a sophomore next year that he wont see the field until he's a senior
did you see all the injuries we had this year?? That's a bad way to look at things IMO. Look at FSU Nnandi and BAMA Hand both of them are somewhat burried on the depth chart but that didn't stop them from committing. Competition with 2 highly touted players at 1 position will be awesome/great for the Defense and Offense
Hand plays for Alabama.
i knew that just forgot to put that in.. lol
Leg up for your legs....uh,...er...I mean your pic.
It's probably academics if it is Marshall.
Its also probably a bullshit rumor, considering its only being said by Hokie5284
Dozier visiting Marshall last week isn't a rumor.
You can visit schools without decommitting
I believe it may have something to do with that kind of like minor last year.
Actually, Ekanem will be a RS Junior next year.
good correction here totally over looked that, thanks for that, but folks what I was saying wasn't from a VT fan perspective, sure I would absolutely love to have him the more the merrier, see what I did there?? LOL :) But just looking from a players perspective, he knows he could get playing time sooner if he goes somewhere else.
I have spent this entire year thinking Ekanem was a r-Sr. I have just now realized that he's still a sophomore.
This was my reaction.
And he will only become more of a beast DE the next 2 years.
Edit: His timeline says he was offered by FSU, but that is a basketball offer.
after watching only the first half of the Nebraska v Florida State game I feel as though I could get a scholarship to Florida State to play basketball and I'm only 6 ft.
So....does this mean Loeffler is decommiting??
This is horribly off topic but does anyone have a picture update of the indoor facility? I would love to see the progress
Wow, you really weren't kidding.
lol the randomness of this made me laugh and I have no valid reason for it. I just picture somebody ready to blow a head gasket at their screen when ever something goes slightly off-topic:
Also you can check out the webcam.
http://www.hokiesports.com/webcam/
I can't help it, I work for the company building it and I check the webcam everyday. Also asa Construction nerd, it is really fantastic how it's coming together.
Leg for being a VT Construction nerd.
Getting hammered since 1947!
Sure...here is the current pic. Bear in mind, its under construction. It will look alot better when its finished.
Edit: Sorry. Meant to reply, but here you go!
Many, many legs. I needed that laugh.
Be careful...those construction workers will get after ya...
wow so cool thanks!
Here is a photo I took Friday night from the stadium:

We've seen the final renderings, but until then it kinda' looks like this to me:

I HOPE We have go-karts!
Anybody know the closest Go-Kart track to Blacksburg? Finals are approaching quickly and well..ya know..Go-Karts.
You're kinda SOL on that front. Salem is the closest that I can think of. Thunder valley. Not a real big market for go karts in and around the 'burg. Most of the locals have 4 wheelers and fields...or at least trails..lol.
Also, for everyone out there in / was / is going to be in the MV's -
Not too shabby
I love that the school is building a new practice field for the MV's but damn if it doesn't look like a better setup than what the football players are getting...
I've never been a fan of the way the location for the indoor practice field was selected but it's where it is now for better or worse. at least the company doing the construction work knows their shit.
That should really help the band recruiting. I hear we don't get many of the 5* band kids.
located in the stadium woods
Being that we are posting oddly off topic comments in this thread already, I thought this would be the perfect place to put this. I ran into Stacy Searles at Five Guys before Thanksgiving break and my friend asked me about his playing days. That is when I found out Searles was an all-american lineman blocking for BO JACKSON.
THE MAN BLOCKED FOR BO JACKSON.
I'll go ahead and reply to my own post because we are all thinking the same thing here:

This whole thread is better because of you. You the real MVP
To be fair, if I had blocked for Bo Jackson, I would have been an All-American too. Or he would have split my spine into a 100 pieces running over me while I ineptly tried to block.
So that's where he learned his football. Bo knows football ladies and gentlemen.
But Bo don't know Diddly
Sounds promising. Josh, feed our need! :-)
I have another inside scoop from #Sources: We couldn't have gotten those Coke cans without the help of our very own PeteBuddyWilson! He was a lifesaver, dropping a "buy a 12-pack get one half off" coupon on the athletic department.
Cake or Pie?
Good thing his name is Josh. I'd imagine it'd be difficult with some other names out there:
Or really any of these:
Anyone know what Sweat said in the phone conversation with 247 sports?
Can't really post specifics because it's behind a paywall, but it was quite positive.
Oh, go ahead, Joe's not looking. :-)
VTGuitarMan is always watching and I envision him moderating the boards with a Bud like intensity. Not trying to feel the force of that against me...
Oh don't mind me, act normal...
Quite positive is an accurate way to describe the events of that phone call, which we cannot (or won't, either one) disclose because of the paywall. And we're super awesome/make poor financial decisions.
This made me chuckle and I thought you deserved to know that.
I know, just wanted to hear if sounded good or bad. Thanks guy. GO HOKIES!!!
hahaha lol literally just laughed for a solid minute at the Homer gif, well done sir, well done
With the UAB football program likely getting the axe, are there any guys on the Blazers that the Hokies might get or even want to go after?
It's not just likely it's done deal , more than likely not even getting a bowl game. As for O linemen, they have at least 3 maybe 5 2/3 star O linemen, as for how they would fit in the VT system, how good they really are etc that's way above my knowledge. However picking up any of those kids can't hurt when it comes to getting a foot in doors in the Deep South.
Any news regarding Ricky Deberry? I noticed he's obviously not a VT front runner or anything but just wondered if anyone knew the realistic shot of landing him? We could use a big time line backer to help fill out this class
Lets go for the trifecta...I Ford already here, V Alexander and Tolliver might flip our way. Add Sweat and Settle and I will be all set for Christmas. Bring it home Beamer Claus.
Something I didn't know until yesterday: Tolliver's dad played at LSU.
Ah, I also didn't know that. That would explain why he likes it so much, when most parents would cringe at the thought of their child trying to get a job with an LSU degree.
....and it explains why he committed at age 16 to them.
Hey hey now, my dad was an LSU grad and turned out pretty well for himself...
He does have a pretty sweet van down by the river.
As a Floyd County native living in SoCal...I can attest..it's a dumpster fire....
My Christmas tree came from Floyd county according to the guy from the Ruritan club
I don't doubt it. There are a lot of tree farms out there. I can't wait to get back. Just bought my dad's house and land for when my wife and I retire.
I get mine from Floyd every year. I love Floyd Co! So beautiful and my fav Vineyard is
up there as well. :)
it is beautiful and I cannot WAIT to get back. It's much better than San Diego. First I lived in the burg and went to gilbert linkous elementary, then moved to Floyd until high school, moved to c-burg and graduated from auburn.
I lived down the mtn in Glenvar all my life. Moved up here to the NRV at Claytor Lake
and it was the best thing I've ever done. And Floyd isn't too far away. :) WELCOME
HOME!
So you moved from the Blacksburg area to San Diego? I graduated from San Diego State (after HS at a SD county school) and moved to VT for grad school.
Which vineyard?
Chateau Morrisette (I think you are asking me. I get lost on the replies on here sometimes lol)
Must be living in LA... San Diego is amazing. OC isn't bad. But, yea LA sucks.
I live in San Diego. Hate it. just not my style. although the bass fishing here is World Class... But other than that..you can have it. Too many people for me.
too many people? wow, that's the first I've ever heard that complaint about San Diego.
I lived about 25 minutes from San Diego
You never know what you'll end up getting into out there
Bet there's a story behind that picture!
Yea, there is entirely too many people here. I'm from just outside of BBurg...Roanoke has too many people for me...But yea..I avoid LA like the plague..hate it up there
Joey Phillips approves of this
Now if we could just get Sam to do this. I'm sure his girlfriend might have something to say about it.
If i'm in town I will definitely try to make it. It depends on which bowl we get. I'll be back in the 'Burg for the holidays.
San Diego isn't as great as it used to be (this coming from a SD native).
I lived in Boulder Creek for 6 years (Santa Cruz Mts) while working in Tech start-ups in Silicon Valley back around turn of the century. My son was in medical sales last year (after graduating from UCF) living near Chico (just relocated to Scottsdale, AZ). Where are you from out there?
UAB has a RB. I saw a list today of their players.
I also wonder if Sweat did the same in his other visits?
If so, sounds like he's making decisions based in football alone. That being the case, the show that Ekanem n Nicolas put on couldn't have hurt.
Commence:
I predict there will be a meltdown
If he chooses us, we will meltdown in joy
If he chooses not us, we will burn the whole fucking place to the ground
Edit: Deleted Comment for unintended offenses.
That comment does not belong on this site.
You must be a real fun guy at those bonfires.
Leave the charged stuff off of here. You want to poke fun at college students being idiots up in Morgantown? That's one thing, it's fine. Do not dive into the hot-button stuff. Seriously.
Whoa! Sorry everyone, I meant on offence. With everything going on right now I didn't appreciate the
in the above comment. That is why I wrote what I did. I was not trying to start anything, I was trying to quell it being started. Obviously, I failed and apologize.
If you have read my other comments on this site you'll see that I like to discuss things, but I'm not on here to argue or be negative. I like this site because the general feel is positive for our program, and I like to be optimistic.
You really took that comment far, far too seriously
Sorry man, it just hit me wrong at the time. We good now?
We were never not good.
I had to read this twice. Diagramming that sentence would make my head explode.
Upvote for changing whatever it was to this
Let the countdown begin!!
Jahque Alleyne and Deshawn McClease both got bumped up to 4* by Rivals.
Recgonize.
Wrod.
That's what I get for posting from my phone. :(
Ahhhh crap! When did they decommit? /s
That's good. Absolutely no reason for McClease not to be a 4*.
Either crack the 250?
I could check but...lazy.
One of these things is not like the others...
He already has the right name on his jersey, might as well keep wearing it.
Tim Settle Commits in 14 days.
who
Twitter is blocked at my work so I had to dig for some news on Settle.
Final schools are VT, OK St, USC, Wash St

Wow it seems like only a couple of months ago he was favoring VT, Clemson, Penn St., and Tennessee. It's good to see that VT is the only one that remained in his top 4.
Are we considered a long shot? I can't keep it all straight.
No, we are the thick of the battle and possibly even the front runners but with the way his recruitment has gone nobody really knows.
So hypothetically if we finish strong we could flirt with a top ten class assuming no attrition? Fair to say?
Probably not. Top 20 pushing top 15 is possible, but don't see a top 10 coming out of this. Need multiple 5 stars or more high 4 stars.
Thanks. I only dabble in recruiting, and only in the players we land.
To be clear, by flirt with top 10 I meant low teens, so sounds like that might actually be a reachable goal
I feel good about flipping Alexander, not so much Toliver.
Agreed. That may allow Edmunds to slide to TE and Burke to DE.
If rumors of Edmunds growth is to be believed, he's going to be 6'4" 245+.
Still has to catch up to Bucky. I heard the trainers had him at 10' the other day
I realize now I was getting Settle and Tolliver confused. Knew there was one guy who took an official that we were a long shot.
We're not recruiting Nijman as an OL.. keep in mind he made those statements after talking to Miami.
It's basically between us and Miami for him. He's an EE so we'll know his choice within a few weeks.
I'm okay with two or three lower ranked guys we haven't heard of coming into the picture late, if only because of the pre-signing day Luther Maddy (2*)/Dadi Nicolas (3*) combo.
Side note, a friend of mine from Manassas (Stonewall Jackson class of 2000) says that he played football with Tim's dad, who was a couple of years older than him.
I can't vouch for the truthfulness of that statement, but kids are now graduating high school whose parents were in my graduating class.
Congratulations on reaching your prime!
Are there any Michigan recruits that we might encourage to reconsider, given Mr. Hoke's recent exit?
According to 247sports they only have 6 recruits right now. None of their recruits are VT targets that I'm aware of.
Wow, that seems rather low. However, I'm sure the next coach will be able to reel in some talent before signing day to lessen the void.
They've been hemorrhaging recruits for a while now, including VT targets/former target Garrett Taylor and Darren Kirkland.
I know it's a little off topic but does anyone know whats up with Holland Fisher? He was a big time recruit and I haven't heard anything about him at all recently?
He redshirted
Last I read, he was missing some practice time with an injury, then returned but only to limited practice in a blue jersey. Best case scenario is that he got a lot of mental reps this year and will be able to step in and fill the safety spot next year.
