Yeah, don't stare it too long because it will fade away like a mirage, much like his hopes with the Appy State vacancy. As a matter of fact don't be surprised if it is retracted. It is more likely that the retraction emerges than O'Cain "emerging "as a serious candidate at Charleston So. If they want to get proactive about it they could print the retraction first and the insider scoop later so it won't be such a waste of time for us....

He never landed any solid recruits at Tech, though, and if you can't coach a position well that you've coached almost your entire coaching career, being a head coach isn't going to be much better.

I never said he was a good recruiter, I said he has recruiting ties. And coacing Charleston Southern is a big difference than Virginia Tech. This is not uncommon.

Charleston Southern only has 8 wins in the last 3 years at the FCS level...they can't really afford to be picky. And while O'Cain has been a blah coach lately, he was a respectable 41-40 in his 7 years as head coach for NC State. This rumor certainly makes more sense than the App State rumor, at least App State has a good recent history.

he could continue their tradition. Their last coach Jay Mills was there 10 years and had a 48-63 record and nobody even tried to run him out of town. He has the most wins in school history. He has also had the most losses of any HC they have had in football. CSU has played Florida, Florida State, Miami, Kentucky, South Florida, Hawaii, and Illinois among others over the last decade and in their defense that has led to some of those losses. They played these Division I opponents for the added revenue. CSU won its first-ever Big South in 2005 and in 2006, won its first nine games en route to posting the nation's second-longest winning streak at 14 games. The 2006 team was nationally-ranked for the first time in school history, and finished with a school-record nine wins.

....leader in the clubhouse for that Appy State position but their current OC came in with a strong interview and stole the job.
MOC (or, as some boards call him "My Cocaine") is a legit HC candidate at the FCS level. He's not an awful QB coach either, but, as Clemson fans warned us, calling plays and running an offense isn't his strong suit.

Why you gotta go and get my hopes up like that. I may have just climaxed when I saw the title and then was immensely let down when I saw it wasn't for real yet.

Oh and as head coach.
Sucks for them. Hopefully they aren't looking for a high-powered offense.
It said "don't be surprised if he's a CANDIDATE" ... It's by no means official.
Won't believe it until I see a statement from either school...
O'Cain to Charleston So~

Definitely a rumor. No high school, let alone college or university, is this fucking stupid.
Maybe. Some struggling FCS school could think it be worth it. They get a coach who has been at the top level.
For example, nfl coach ends up at FBS school and everyone is excited.
Everyone knows that a failed NFL coach would never make it in the NCAA.
oh...wait.
Recruiting ties are golden, plus a bad position coach doesn't mean bad head coach.

Good for him. Yes, glad to see him leaving VT but it would be good to see him rewarded for his time.
Why you gotta go and do that

This... this is good
