Man with all the injuries we have had at tailback this year anyone who can run is welcome so come to Tech is you want to get some early PT. Best of luck wherever you decide to go kid

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

You can never, ever, ever have enough talent at the skill positions on offense

"When I was growing up, Virginia Tech was a school that was kicking ass and taking names, and it's time we get back to that" - James Franklin

Remember that time we had 5 scholarship tailbacks and a walkon and a fullback and used every single one of them during the season cause guys kept getting hurt?

I remember like it was yesterday.... Wait a second...

That being said, with the possibility that we could be missing both Shai and Marshawn next year with redshirts as they recover from their long term injuries, any additional depth we can get at the RB position would be more than welcome, especially with 4* guys. If we can have a 3 or 4 deep at RB with all 4* players, we'll be very good for the future. Hoping we can pull in a couple more high quality WRs as well, and with the talent we're pulling on OL, our offense could start to see some improvement next year. Then again, I said the same about this past year, so... *shrug*

i dont forsee any of our guys jumping to the NFL early that we have right now but how knows but i know this after 3 straight years of guys leaving early and having a backfield full of stars (DE, RMFW,DW) i will take as many good RBs as we can get so we dont end up like we did a couple years back with tony gregory IMO being the best RB we had on the roster at the time and he was on his 3rd ACL.

Making his commitment right after his visit leads me to believe he's going elsewhere, probably NC State.

(Grabbing this from the recruiting thread since there is now a thread dedicated to Hines)

If we're tied with NC State, then probably the difference-maker will be whether or not his sister can run track here, which would point to NC State, unless VT offers her. Just basing this entirely on what is written in this article.

How is our track program vs. NCSU?

The girls team was legit back when I was running but they have been up and down since then. I can tell you one BIG advantage we have is since football is getting their own indoor facility that means that the track team can take over Rector.

We win a lot of conference titles... at their expense

So we have one of the best track programs in the ACC and NCSU is comparable?

From what I can recall, track in the ACC has generally fluctuated between FSU and VT for a while.

I could be dead wrong about that, but its what I remember.

Or he loved his visit to VT and sees no reason to visit elsewhere / delay his decision. I don't know if that's the case, but it works both ways.

i'm not sure that's the case. i haven't followed his recruitment at all but i'm sure his visit to blacksburg wasn't so unimpressive that he would just cancel his visit to dub v and decide to announce early.

Every second counts

Haha I can picture it:

Nyheim: "That trip to Blacksburg wasn't really all that impressive..."
....
Nyheim [later]: "Man, to hell with West Virginia! No visit for them!"

Actually he sounds like my kinda guy.

yeah, even if he doesn't pick us, i like where his head's at!

Every second counts

His tape is ridiculous, would love to land him!!

I think State has shown him how they will use him as an all purpose back like they did with Matt Dayes this year. I'm not sure VT has something they can point to in their offense that fits his skill set as well.

Also, he just had his in home with State last week, which also bodes well for them. I just thinks it's a long shot, and wouldn't get too upset about it if he doesn't commit to Tech

Maybe we just showed him the depth chart with all the names with "IR" next to them. "Hell even if your 5th on the depth chart you're probably going to get a shot"

Can he play DE?

Why do you need Pete? Dig some of those coupons out of your stash.

We need to sell him that whenever we have a high profile freshman running back we are always a force to be reckoned with. I miss the Evans, Williams, Wilson years.

This kid is one you don't turn away with his speed, would love to have him!

Just got a chance to watch his highlights...

Oh. OH!

You bogarted my go-to "want" gif.

Leg because I agree... but I've got my eye on you. ;)

I don't mean this as any way a negative on Hines -- but do they even teach kids how to tackle in North Carolina?

They do, but it's taught at UNC.

Gold. Pure gold.

it's taught at UNC

unfournately that's a graduate level course at chapell hill.

And it's a paper only class, no attendance required.

Edit: WAYY late on the pickup. I should have refreshed my page before thinking I would be the first person to cleverly knock this setup out of the park.

This kid plays with A LOT of intensity. May I also add that his OL and FB block very well too! It's always good to see OL sprinting around looking for someone to block!

I have #sources that say that his sister did in fact receive a track scholarship from VT this weekend.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

You are correct good sir

does anybody know how to pronounce 'nyheim'?

Every second counts

I'm guessing its Ny-heem. I am basing that solely on how this guy pronounced his name.

Shyheim aka The Rugged Child, anybody remember that dude? Fifth Fuller?

That's right. It's a muslim name, meaning "a blessing"

It's been confirmed on other sites

Please come here....we need you @ Tech! Please.

Long live Rasche Hall

I actually for once feel good about this one for some reason. No info other than what I've read here and maybe few other places, but I think we get a surprise. If not, it would sting less if he went to NC State as opposed to some of these other programs we lose players too.
