Virginia Tech athletic director Whit Babcock said he's "confident" defensive coordinator Bud Foster will be with the Hokies next season and indicated the school could have an announcement on that topic in the coming days.
"I feel good about Bud being a part of our program," Babcock said during a phone interview Monday morning. "He's incredibly valuable. I fully realize how important he is to our success. And I feel like we'll be in a position in the coming days to talk more on that. He's a big part of it. I feel good about it and confident that he'll be a part of it moving forward."

Whit:rumors::Bud:incomplete passes
YEAH BUT HAS WHIT BEEN TRACKING THE PLANES IN AND OUT OF ROANOKE????!?!?1!?@!?
/sarc
So if the AD is "confident". And Foster is "Nope, not right now" looking at other schools what's the hold up.
Seriously.
If Foster wants to be at Tech and Babcock knows how much he's worth whats the wait for. Its not time to the bowl. there are plenty of other coaches signing extensions, like
less than a year ago (1/3/2014 before the NC game)
Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher has officially signed a new five-year deal with the Seminoles through the 2018 season, the school announced Tuesday.

On the heels of one of the most successful seasons in school history, University of Memphis officials announced Thursday they have reached an agreement on a contract extension with Head Football Coach Justin Fuente. The Tigers are currently preparing to compete in their first bowl game since 2008. Memphis will face the BYU in the Miami Beach Bowl on Monday, Dec. 22nd
Or just come out and make a statement as clear as day
Jim Mora: UCLA is my home and where I want to stay. UCLA plays on Jan 2 vs K-State
What Whit is saying. "We reached a deal that makes everyone happy, it is going through the legal crap and he will be signing it. I can't say he has been extended yet, because he hasn't signed the papers yet, but he will.
Bud was out recruiting and if Bud is comfortable here, he is in no rush to push paperwork through since he has more important things like getting recruits. Bud is a guy that puts his priorities first and I doubt to him, signing the extension if he knows he is going to stay is high on his list.
Whit, this Bud's for you. Sign him up.
Also, from the Twitters:
Translation: uva football has a snowball's chance in hell of beating us anytime soon.
In before the conspiracy theorists invade trying to nitpick on why its not being announced right now if everyone is supposedly in such agreement.
you missed it by about 18 minutes
Damn... I skipped over that comment after the first line because I saw how silly it was... Oh well
So can we begin speculation that this is actually a Beamer retirement/Foster promoted to HC announcement, just to give us something to obsessively nitpick over?
Need to pay the man what he is worth. Treat him right,Whit.
If they printed that much money it would trigger hyperinflation in the US economy.
I feel good about Bud being a part of our program too, Whit.
Translation: Boosters open your checkbooks, this one is going to hurt...
Or maybe that we're starting to spend like a school our size and with our pedigree in football should be spending.
We're no longer the po-dunk small time cheap spending school many of us love to believe we still are.
The "Weaver Effect." Act like you're small time, you become small time.
Thank God we now have an aggressive AD who views expenditures as investments, and rightfully so. Spend money to make money. Act like a big boy to become one.
HCIW rumors, engage.
Money, Cash, Ho......
kies!
That is both the most disturbing and awesome thing I have seen on the interweb today
I wonder if that is just base or with all the bennies?
The details should be public before the bowl game. Maybe today, tomorrow, but give it until the bowl game because of the travel, etc. The team is leaving for the bowl tomorrow, so it will happen this week some time.
but for how long?
5 years
Bargain of a lifetime, but it really does mean Bud loves VT and works well with Frank
Bargain for sure.
He should definitely be in top 3 of highest Coordinator pay...
It'll be over $1 mil. The 750k is what he makes now.
Well that settles it, he's definitely going to be the [coaching position] at [university]. It was bound to happen sooner or later.
Horse is [adverb] right.
Would not shock me if its a raise of $756k to get him upwards of $1.25M per year, to put his payscale equal to that of his peers at the top of the coordinating ranks in college football.
