Braxton Miller to FSU?

Just sitting here watching TCU thrash Ole Miss and the ESPN scroll just said Braxton has expressed interest in transferring to FSU. But also it said Urban Meyer expects him to return to OSU.

This could get interesting.

Don't discourage MCH! The more Braxton threads we have, the more likely he is to transfer here. It's science

Honestly, I don't want him. More than anything we need stability at QB, and whether or not that means we stick with Brewer next year or go with someone who will be starting a multiple year starting campaign, we need things to settle down. We bring in Miller and you're looking at 4 starting QBs in 4 years.

A thousand times this.

If this was just any QB I'd agree but stability goes out the window when you're talking about a QB with way more talent and way more proven production than any of our other options.

Yeah. If we're talking strictly Ford/Motley/Durkin/? vs Miller, I understand. But I would take one year of (healthy) Braxton Miller over one more year of Michael Brewer, everything else being equal.

A healthy Braxton Miller is a whole lotta "everything else being equal"...

I can't understand why - short of absolute and total desperation - any program would take a flyer on Miller to transfer in to play QB. Nor can I understand why he would want to transfer. IMO, he wasn't an NFL QB before the injury; his only chance of making the league at this stage is to give RB a try. And OSU is as good an option as any for that.

He could get a good team over the hump. As someone on TSL pointed out, we would take him for 1 year if he turned out like Wilson did for Wisconsin or Newton did for Auburn.

Correy

Sure...IF he can still play QB. The evidence suggests that is a big IF.

Like I said...total desperation.

Hmmm... Wilson went to the Rose Bowl an lost. Newton went to the Nat'l Champ and won.

If Miller were like Wilson, eh. If Miller were like Newton, then yes, please. Both had great seasons those years though.

I definitely get your point about wanting consistency but Miller isn't just another transfer. If the tyrod you knew and loved played somewhere else and wanted to transfer to vt, would your answer be the same? miller, wilson, tyrod are/were good enough that you always take them. qbs of that caliber can get you a title or at least close.

More than anything, we need better QB play. Which means we need better coaching (doesn't seem likely) or better talent.

Or better OL play, so the qb can get to his 2nd option on at least 95% of passing plays..

Heck.... Make that "get to his 1st option, on 95% of passing plays without getting drilled".

Its funny how coaches look smarter & qb's look better, when the OL is decent.

we need a QB who can actually throw the ball.

For the record: I like Brewer, I think he will start next year, and I think he will continue to improve along with the rest of our offense. I just think Braxton Miller is better as a whole, admittedly knowing nothing about how he would fit in Loeffler's offense. I also know that Miller transferring here is a pipe dream. That said, here are some passing stats (cfbstats.com) without context, and in no real order:

2013 Braxton Miller:

G Att Comp Pct. Yards Yards/Att TD Int Rating Att/G Yards/G
12 255 162 63.5 2094 8.2 24 7 158.08 21.3 174.5

2014 Michael Brewer:

G Att Comp Pct. Yards Yards/Att TD Int Rating Att/G Yards/G
13 441 262 59.4 2692 6.1 18 15 117.35 33.9 207.1

2013 Logan Thomas:

G Att Comp Pct. Yards Yards/Att TD Int Rating Att/G Yards/G
13 403 228 56.6 2909 7.2 16 13 123.86 31.0 223.8

Obviously Miller threw way less in Meyer's run-focused spread than either quarterback in Loeffler's more balanced offense. Also obviously, Ohio State has more talent catching passes. But he did OK throwing the ball, looking at the numbers out of context. Actual reading of defenses and other quarterbacking skills? I'm not qualified to eveluate that, unfortunately

Miller also had Carlos Hyde who was beast! I am not saying don't take him but I don't think he would look as good in this offense outside zone read option type plays. Loefler needs a cerebral qb, one that is smarter than us fans Lol!

Wow, Dec 28? How did I miss this?? Sorry

Braxton may break the "Bud Foster to...X" internet record.

A picture is worth a thousand words. A gif is worth a million.

duke is the one to watch for imo

I can't imagine Miller going from playing in the Shoe to the Track.

Millers having 2nd thoughts on FSU. Playing for Oregon is looking much better.
