The 2015 Semper Fidelis Bowl is set to take place on January 4th. Hopewell, Virginia defensive end Darrell Taylor is among the high school participants who will play in Sunday's All-American game. The four-star prospect and athletic freek provided Rivals an update on his recruitment.
"I'm still 100-percent committed to Tennessee but also looking at Tech. Right now, Tech is trying to show me they have to offer is better than Tennessee. I don't see anything that's better as of yet, but I'm gonna keep looking at them."

Even with every-down defensive ends Trevon Hill and Houshun Gaines committed to Tech for the cycle, the Hokies defensive end depth remains an issue for 2015 and beyond.
Taylor took an official visit to Virginia Tech the weekend of December 12th. Shane Beamer and the Virginia Tech coaching staff has been persistent in their recruitment of Darrell. According to Rivals, Taylor, who committed to Tennessee over Virginia Tech on September 26th, will make a final decision on national signing day.

Does Tennessee have a lunch pail?
... NO?!
Yea didn't think so
Lunch pail is one, I was kinda thinking teeth. But yea, the lunch pail works too...
Per a report from BMW-Baller, who talked to his father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate.
(Just kidding, it's actually his girlfriend's sister's boyfriend's cousin)
"Twice removed" fits in there somewhere.
Hey man!
Respect the #SOURCES.
But after I talked to him I learned the same thing I did as in this article. He is very very high on Tennessee, but it's not over until the fat lady sings.
Couldn't miss a chance to get in a spaceballs reference. appreciate the info though!
Don't worry. It didn't go unappreciated. Leg was given. Hope it was tasty.
I'll just put it this way...
If you're still listening to offers and leaving the door open to change your mind, you're very clearly not 100% committed. You're just waiting for someone to say what you want to hear.
Offer him some Hardees coupons.
I give you a fictitious leg. Hardees should be the kicker.
Does Tennessee play in the Terror Dome? Do they have Bud Foster?
...NO?!
...Then welcome to Hokie Nation.
No 2 especially. Come and play for the best DC in college. What else does he want to see?
We need whatever is in this guy's hand.
"Tech is trying to show me they have to offer is better than Tennessee. I don't see anything that's better as of yet,
but I'm gonna keep looking at them."
Looks like VT's bagman knows what he has to do.
Hardee's coupons?
Looks like I will have to send PeteBuddyWilson my coveted buy one get on free thick burger coupons rather than the lowly $1 off a combo coupon.
If I were a cynical person about college football, I'd say that he's definitely looking for a bagman. Where's petebuddywilson?
Is Tennessee going to be playing in the biggest college football game ever? Oh wait...
Was it over after the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?!?
I actually said that during the awful Miami game this year and people were looking at me like I had a third eye! I yelled, "Animal House" to no avail! They still looked confused!
You need to find smarter people to hang with
Not smarter, just older like me.
Older would work too, but my kids are in their 20's. All 3 would recognize that quote. They would probably add:
Wormer, he's a dead man!
Marmalard, dead!
Niedermeyer dead!
As a gif fan, this gets an upvote if for no other reason than I watched it 20 times and still have no idea what is happening.

So far, though, it's seemingly more like this (ha):
As for Shane and his bulldog recruiting tactics...love it...just love it. The gloves are off, and we've come to play.
Haha I mean, if he still can't see that we offer anything better than Tennessee on Dec 31, then it's over.
In recruiting, committed doesn't mean invested. Or sworn to. Or legally obligated. It just means that an athlete has an informal agreement with a school for an athletic scholarship. Having players "commit" before they actually sign documentation is a win-win, as it lets schools plan out how many more athletes they need to fill out their class and it allows athletes to lock in scholarship offers before someone else takes their spot.
However, it is an informal term. Athletes are able to decommit as they see fit and so are colleges (lets not forget, recently Tech had a "commit" decide to head to a different school after their scholarship offer got changed to a greyshirt). Just like the word "shot" has very different meanings in the context of a party/basketball game/gun range, "commit" has a very specific meaning in the recruiting world.
My newest pet peeve is when student athletes get mocked for "committing" while still looking at other schools.... like the programs they're committed too wouldn't do the same exact thing if, say, Josh Sweat changed his mind and wanted his spot.
Did the vols have 2 DE's in the top 20 in sacks or tfl? So stop the wondering & Flip son don't believe the fools gold they are trying to sell in Knoxville.
Show him the sec record in bowls so far! Bwahaaaaaa! The dye of Mississippi is in disarray. Tennessee will be as well tomorrow.
GO HAWKEYES!!!
It would be awesome if Taylor flips to us...just building a great class. Lets start this party with Settle tomorrow and Cager/Lawson this weekend.
Happy New Year!
Finishing with Settle, Lawson, and Cager would be a grand slam. Flipping Taylor on top of that is the grand slam to win the World Series!
With the rumor being that Miami is about to fire their WR coach, we may actually end up with Cager. We got a CB for him this morning, and I couldn't tell if it was a troll, a wild guess, or someone actually knows something. Who knows?
Don't forget Victor Alexander, and possible Bryce Love.
Love isn't happening. There's a joke in there somewhere about you being sad and lonely, but I don't feel like making it.
I do feel pretty good about Victor Alexander though. That visit in a couple weeks is gonna be huge.
My wife graduated from Va Tech so love already happened and the depth we have at RB I don't want Bryce Love, I'd rather get an unranked O-Linemen to be honest haha
Zing! There ya go. Yeah, I'd much rather go out and get another OL. I think we'll be pretty happy with McClease, McMillian and Reid to go along with our older guys.
VT has also picked up 5 CB's for Settle in last 24 hours. I hope they know something.
The biggest battle over Settle at this point is in the classroom. There's still a chance he makes it next fall, but it'll be by the skin of his teeth.
If he's in then he's in and I'm a happy hokie
Yeah, the elimination of Wazzou gives me some hope on this front.
Since the crystal balls are good for VT that means we believe them, right?
LOLNO
The fact that he's supposedly already made a decision and these CB's are coming the night before his decision give (some) hope.
JC Shurburtt tends to be pretty accurate though.
It gives a lot of hope to see Evan Watkins and JC have their CBs to us the night before and a corresponding article is published by Evan saying Settle has made his decision. I feel really good about this one.
Since the CBs are good for VT and 8 of them came in the day before he decides and Evan Watkins and JC Schurburt CB'd him to Tech we believe them.
Until they switch it 10 min before the announcement and then brag on the accuracy of CB's.
