Blue-chip defensive tackle Tim Settle committed to Virginia Tech today. Members of Virginia Tech's 2015 recruiting class, like the rest of Hokie Nation were excited that Settle joined #OneHeartBeat15 and took to Twitter to share in the big news. The Key Play followed up with some of Tech's 2015 verbal commitments as well.
When asked what he thought about Settle joining the Hokies 2015 class, DuWayne "The Rock" Johnson said, "I love it! He will definitely make things easier on my end. I believe he was a big piece that we needed."
"We love it!! Welcome to Hokie nation!," defensive end Houshun Gaines said.
His thoughts on playing next to a big guy that can free him up to rush the passer? " We'll work for each other!!"
Adonis Alexander said, "I'm excited. He looks like he be a great help."
When asked if he was excited to play with a guy that can force a QB into making mistakes and bad throws, Mook Reynolds responded, "I feel our d-line as a unit will do that, and the addition of Tim gives us more power and depth."
"I'm really hype about it," fellow 2015 Tech defensive tackle commit Eric Whitehead Jr said. "There's nothing like getting a big time player committed to the school you're committed to. And me and him playing next to each other will be crazy."
Defensive prospects Adonis Alexander (DB), Trevon Hill (DE) and Mook Reynolds (DB) know Beamer Co.'s recruited a very talented bunch of defenders.

I love the "Thata Boy" look from papa Settle.
If papa Settle had any eligibility left we'd be recruiting him too
Ha, that was my first thought too. His dad is a wise man
This fills such a big need on the depth chart. It sucked seeing Allen, Kirven, and Hand in Bama jerseys and knowing our depth issues.
Has Kirven even had an impact?
No. Last night he wasn't even in pads, just his jersey on the sideline.
So maybe not as big a "miss" as it could have been.
Going off fading memory here but I seem to remember people saying Kirven wasn't a great fit for Saban's D but would be a really good fit for Foster. Things may have been different had he gone to VT. We'll never know.
So I am guessing we don't need a coaching change? Correct? Boys, we're doing something right. We landed one of the best offensive and one the best defensive line recruits in the country in 1 year. Since I've really been paying attention - for about 7 years, s*** like this hasn't happened in Blacksburg. Add one, two, or both Cager and Lawson.....I wouldn't know what to say.
I'm right there with ya buddy this class is looking better and better, If we could have Bucky, Isiah, and Cager all lined up with some sizable tackles and Lawson at the helm I think we'd be a happy bunch of Hokies.
I wouldn't count on seeing Bucky on the field with someone like Lawson. I'm sure that if we do land him, he'll almost certainly redshirt. And at the rate Bucky is progressing, he'll probably be a first or early second round pick after next season. I think we as fans need to accept that, one way or another, this young man is going to disappoint most of us, either by failing to live up to his potential, or by doing so well, that he leaves us behind and declares early for the NFL.
CB's are pointing towards Bama Big time anyways
Cager to Bama is the current CB trend; Lawson is a strong possibility. But the redshirt argument stands. Unlikely that Bucky and Lawson are together on the field.
It seems to me (and I could be making this up) that tight ends tend to stay in school longer than most other skill positions. Bucky could certainly make the exception but if all he can do is catch, we're just producing a WR. I feel like the reason TE's maybe stay in school longer is because they are an extension of the Oline and need that skill going to the next level or they won't be an every down TE.
Case study: Eric Ebron-left early for nfl. That was the player that Bucky was emulating when the move was made...
What people forget here is that Eric had been playing TE since before he got to college. Bucky is still learning routes and how to block.
I dont know that it matters. If he shows even slight improvement I dont see how he isnt rated a first or second round grade from the draft board and declares. Ill be shocked if he is on the 2016 team.
I don't think he goes with 2 years eligibility left. I think he drafts after the 2016 season at the earliest.
Your observation is true, but I don't think it's necessarily relevant. Big, fast, pass catching TE's are all the rage in the NFL right now, and I believe a guy with Bucky's measurables and skill set will find himself in high demand. If he was eligible this year, I'd be shocked to see him get a grade below second round, even with his current level of experience. They can teach him to block (lack of experience could even be a plus in this regard, as he probably doesn't have any deeply ingrained bad habits to unlearn for a pro team using different blocking schemes), but you can't teach size and speed.
I have no idea what your expectations are but they already broke records.
What if 2004 Bryan Randall was throwing to I. Ford and C. Phillips? Do we see the same deep bombs that I seem to remember being the norm?
I don't have much expectation of a TE catching lots of deep bombs so, I really can't be disappointed here.
As for next year?
Who knows who the QB will be so I'll wait until next year to decide if I'll be disappointed by a lack of deep bombs.
Sorry, I missed the point of the conversation (Bucky). I was thinking of wide receivers.
Reggie floyds highlights are nice. He looks promising based on his twitter feed
Hope some other blue chips took note
You and me both buddy. You and me both.
So excited to get this young man. He's disruptive and deceptively fast. Best of all, despite his awesomeness, he never show boats. He just claps his hands and acts like he's been there. A Jerry Rice of the O-line. Welcome to Hokie Nation Mr. Settle, epic times are a coming!
This is the biggest DL get I can remember. Only regret he didn't pull the trigger a month ago, might have swayed a DE.
Anyone know how big this kid actually is? I have seen anywhere from 6' to 6'4" and 290 to 339. Nice pickup regardless it just seems crazy that there are so many different sizes for one manchild.
They are all just estimates.
If you can't stop it, you can' t measure it accurately.
Relativity, it'll get after ya.
Your lovely locks show wisdom
He is 6'3" and 330+ carrying some extra.
Go watch some of his highlights, and think about how quick and powerful he's going to be when that 40lb spare tire gets converted into 20lb of muscle by Coach Gentry & crew. 6'3" 310 and this guy's going to be moving into the Warren Sapp neighborhood.
Warren sapp has a redonculous spare tire but I see your point
He is also young, so I could see him going vertical another inch
Papa Settle fist pump gif... can that be a thing?
This group of recruits seem real close to each other.
Social media, man. It'll get after ya.
