Man this is rough. Say what you want about ESPN but Scott was one of the best. I knew he had cancer but didn't realize it had progressed this badly.

Oh man. I had no idea. He was the first sportscaster that became a household name to me back in 4th or 5th grade.

Cool as the other side of the pillow.

RIP.

Let's Go...

I had no idea he was as sick as he was. Breaks my heart

Thank you so much for posting this. Such a sad day and good reminder to LIVE every day. RIP Stuart, your courage, dedication to family, and perseverance are an inspiration.

in Fuller we trust

Stuart Scott lived on my basement television for at least 8 hours every weekend when I was in high school, when I still respected SportsCenter. This stinks.

"How you doin', Randy?"

Heart breaking. One of my favorites at espn (few and far between) his presence will be missed

This is tragic. Stuart was always genuine class. He along with SVP and Chris Fowler were my favorite ESPN personalities. Irreplaceable.

"I liked you guys a lot better when everybody told you you were terrible." -Justin Fuente

I always loved watching Stuart Scott, and he always came across as a genuinely nice guy who you'd like to hang out with. It's nice to hear from his colleagues and friends that this was indeed true.

I knew he was ill for a long time, but this is still a shock. If anyone hasn't already, watch the ESPY speech posted above. I am not ashamed to admit that I shed a few tears for a man that I never met. But if I can tackle any adversity in my life with 10% of the strength and grace that he had through his battle, I would call it a success. What an inspiration.

Rest in peace, Stuart. You definitely won.

"Exit light..."

His voice will live on as the one I think of when I think of SportsCenter. He raised me on summer mornings growing up. BooYah! Stuart, BooYah.

"Yeah, it do." - Mike Vick

All of us have a purpose in our lives, few of us find it because of fear or selfishness. Stuart showed us how to live but even more importantly, he showed us how to face death with dignity. Thanks for a great life lesson, Stuart.

Sad.
I was just talking with my sister over Christmas about him and his illness.
We went to high school together-(he was older, in my sister's class.)
He was always a super guy; well-thought of by his peers in school.
I'm glad that he had success and lived his dream, but hate that he was taken so early.
Prayers for his family.

Wait you went to RJ Reynolds high??

Keep calm, Gobble on

"When you die, that does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and the manner in which you live" - Stuart Scott

Him and Rich Eisen will always be the best tandem anchors on SportsCenter in my mind. Thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Ugh, if you wanna shed some manly tears today, go watch the tribute Rich Eisen did on the NFL Network this morning about ten minutes after he found out. The switch when he catches himself talking about Stu in the present-tense to the past-tense just absolutely killed me.

I has a sad now.

Damn onion cutting ninjas!!!

He was one of the few that were worth a damn at ESPN. One of the best. RIP Stuart Scott.

If you play it, they will win.

I was shocked and saddened to see this. We lost a great one today and by far one of if the best ESPN personalities ever.

$ec$pn just got a whole lot less classy now without him.

He was truly one of the best sports broadcasters of my lifetime. The way he effortlessly incorporated pop-culture references into his sports broadcasts laid the groundwork for a generation of clones and wanna-be's to try to emulate his flair and style. When you hear people on t.v. calling home runs or ally-oop dunks with a punchline or cheesy tagline, they are all doing a poor-man's impression of Scott. When he did it, it was novel and funny because he wasn't trying to be a parody of himself. I appreciated his work as a fan, but admired him in a different light when I saw his speech about overcoming cancer and fighting the good fight. Inspiring stuff. RIP.
