Wow. What a terrible decision by that kid...

There's always a lighthouse. There's always a man. There's always a city.

Makes you wonder if it was a recent decision (terrible life decision made long a go or terrible recent decision in light of championship shot)

___

-What we do is, if we need that extra push, you know what we do? -Put it up to fully dipped? -Fully dipped. Exactly. It's dork magic.

Idiocity.

Kid will never have this opportunity again in his life and he blows it.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

In college can you fail a test and appeal (retest) and keep playing like in NFL?

LOL Sorry couldn't resist if its NSFW Guitar Man let me know.

On a more serious note this is a terrible decision by a kid that seemed to have everything going for him, why do something like this with so much risk with little to no reward.

It's legal in at least two states!

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

Opportunity wasted.

Something that will sit on his mind for a very long time.

Regardless of whether they win or lose...

Maybe it was some good shiet!

"Darren!"

"Darren's not here."

For those who don't get it here is a hint.

He was going to play for the title...

but then he got high

Anyone else thinking that if this happened at FSU we wouldn't hear anything about it?

you would still hear about it

No doubt you would hear about it. It would be a headline along the lines of:

After delaying it's investigation 6 months Tallahassee police find zero evidence in drug related incident with FSU players.

I am not a pot smoker but I think this rule is ridiculous. Marijuana is legal in multiple states. It doesn't improve player performance. There are users all over the US who are positive contributors to society.

The NCAA should stop testing for it.

"How you doin', Randy?"

Regardless of anyone's opinion, the fact is simple. It was a rule, and he broke it. The thought that he couldn't just at least wait until after the game is far more ridiculous, if you ask me.

There's always a lighthouse. There's always a man. There's always a city.

I think we can have a discussion about whether the rule should be in place, outside of the discussion of whether or not to break the rules in place

Lol! Leg for you.

It's still banned federally and the NCAA operates nationally. It can't pick and choose which state laws to abide by especially when those laws are in direct conflict with federal law.

Since they've decided it's not a performance enhancer, they could just not test for it. No one makes them that I'm aware of.

yeah, agreed, that would be a better argument to make

A better question would be, is there any other misdemeanor that automatically results in a suspension for the player? If the answer is no, they'd have a very hard time defending this particular policy.

"I liked you guys a lot better when everybody told you you were terrible." -Justin Fuente

Still illeagal under federal law. IMO, the federal law should only apply if the drugs in question are crossing state lines, but I think court precedent is against my constitutional interpretation here.

That's the problem with not enforcing the existing laws.
People think they can get away with breaking them with no consequences.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

Can't he just allege he was walking in downtown Eugene? I'm pretty sure you get high from the air every time you breathe.

What is more surprising is that the entire Duck team didn't test positive for marijuana.

What is interesting is I thought I remembered a state law in Oregon that prevented the NCAA from testing the team at home. So I imagine their team is randomly drug tested every time they leave the state.
