Nice snippet in this week's Mechanicsville Local about Sam visiting an elementary school. No date was given for the visit but here's a screen shot from the paper.

Good to see that they successfully re-calibrated Sam from "kill" to "off-season".

I'm going to become an elementary school teacher now. I could have my students write letters to all of my favorite Hokies and meet them all!

VT Class of '12 (MSE), MVBone, Go Hokies!

Girlfriend is becoming one too. I'm going to have to get into her ear on this one and then "coincidentally" make a surprise visit.

GIVE IT TO ME ROSCOE!

The way the title read in my mind:

No date was given for the visit

Because the concept of "time" does not apply to Sam Rogers as it does to us

Ah, recruiting em young. That's the spirit Sam!!

Sam Rogers Faces Off With A Former Police Officer
Mechanicsburg, VA - AP

An eerie scene played out at a local elementary school today where Virginia Tech fullback Sam Rogers visited schoolchildren to encourage them to read, part of Hokies head football coach Frank Beamer's reading program called Herma's Readers.

The visit was nearly derailed when Rogers approached the school. Apparently, a former police officer was also attempting to enter the school, belligerently yelling about, "...recruiting," as well as trying to encourage the children to, "...sign their scholarship offer in any color crayon they like." Rogers confused the former officer, a man only identified to the media as "Mike", by counting to infinity...twice.

While the washed-up officer was confused, he was handcuffed and escorted from the premises by school security, all the while apparently believing he could stop the proceedings by yelling, "TIME OUT!! TIME OUT!! TIME OUT!! TIME OUT!!" The man did not understand that he could not stop time, nor did he understand that time outs are only typically allocated in trios, making his fourth time out call irrelevant.

Eventually, Rogers proceeded into a classroom, where he was immediately piled on by hordes of adoring children. In a stunning turn of events, none of the children were injured. After teaching all the children the joy of reading and the importance of literacy, Rogers read them all stories until they fell asleep.

On exiting the building, Rogers was again confronted by the former officer, presumed homeless, but this time he was pantless and crying. Rogers consoled him before carrying him to the local pool. While tossing the half-nude man into the pool, he screamed a primal scream, yelled something about being, "fully dipped," and saved a local kitten from a tree.

Hall of Fame post nominee.

"Exit light..."

If I read this on any news website I would believe it 100%. pure gold

Great stuff. If you weren't a horse you could be a writer. Excellent!

SAM ROGERS VISITS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN HIS HOMETOWN

There were no survivors.

Ha Ha.
I read the title and my mind immediately went to 'I hope all of the children are ok!'

Cut from the same cloth, we are

I see he took pictures with the staff. Where are the kids?

-What we do is, if we need that extra push, you know what we do? -Put it up to fully dipped? -Fully dipped. Exactly. It's dork magic.

.
Needless to say, next time they'll take the proper precautions.

Thus, we now understand why schools are made earthquake proof.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

I refuse to believe that some mere "elementary school" could contain Sam Rogers, must be some kind of offshoot of Hogwarts with magical protection...

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

Sam Rogers visits elementary school in hometown...
When he left, they all had doctorate degrees from VT.

I tried....

This kid though. He'll be in the NFL one day, prime all around good guy.

OMG Sam Rodgers is transferring to play ball at Mechanicsville Elementary!!!

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

His retired jersey is already hanging on the school's entrance.

...no children were harmed in the filming of this episode.

We put the K in Kwality

In other news: Battlefield Park Elementary School will be closed for the fall as all the female teachers have spontaneously become pregnant.

Dork Magic in its purest form.

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

Well, his last name "is" Rodgers...might as well dub him Captain America now

-Being aggressive, being tough...that's the Virginia Tech way.

There's no "d" in Rogers and he'll have some competition for the Captain America Title:

Joey Phililips Flag Shorts/Salute

Joey and Sam have set the precedent that to play FB for VT you must be a hard working, blue collar guy. And a mullet doesn't hurt, either.

You spelled Sam Rogers' name with a "d"?

Run bro.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

Lol, I got nothing...I was in a briefing and didn't even notice I put a "D" in there. That D just felt right...lmao

-Being aggressive, being tough...that's the Virginia Tech way.

That D just felt right

Phrasing

No "d" in Sam Rogers

Noted. It will not happen again...at least while I'm sober.
